FARGO -- A Cass County jail inmate faces a felony assault charge for allegedly knocking another inmate unconscious, a scuffle that was reportedly prompted by repeated farting and a racial slur. Court documents filed Wednesday in Cass County District Court allege the incident happened Monday during a confrontation at the jail's medium security unit between inmates Ahmed Nur Adan, 27, of Fargo, and Timothy Lowseth, 26, of West Fargo. But Hall says when the amount of child support was modified no one told him. An 88-year-old World War II veteran was thrown in jail for not being able to afford repairs to his business. Kenneth Knudson’s jewelry store was deemed a public hazard zone and in need up updates. The city of Horton, Kansas offered to do the repair work for $10,000 dollars and apply it to his taxes. Knudson, whose jewelry store business is already struggling, said that was too expensive. On December 23, he appeared in court and told a judge he did not have the money. The judge then fined Knudson $100 dollars and put him in jail for one night.

The sheriff of Houston's Harris County has adopted a sweeping policy designed to protect and guarantee equal treatment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender inmates, including allowing transgender individuals to be housed based on the gender they identify with instead of their biological sex.
