  • Four ways to reduce unwanted iodized table salt reactions when boiling pasta

    03/02/2023 10:33:04 AM PST · by ConservativeMind · 28 replies
Iodized salt helps prevent iodine-deficiency disorders, including goiters and certain birth defects. Yet it's unclear how this seasoning interacts with chloramine-treated drinking water if some of the disinfectant is left behind. Now, researchers have demonstrated that cooking pasta in such water with iodized table salt could produce potentially harmful byproducts. But they also report four simple ways that people can reduce or avoid these unwanted compounds. In most countries, drinking water is treated with chlorine or chloramine. But small amounts of these disinfectants can end up in water used for cooking. Previous experiments showed that when wheat flour was heated...
  • Study finds antisepsis agents interchangeable in reducing infection risk in open fracture surgeries (Iodine as good as chlorhexidine)

Medical Xpress / Louisiana State University / The Lancet ^ | Oct. 14, 2022 | Robert Zura, MD et al
Orthopaedics faculty participated in a study comparing two antisepsis aqueous solutions in reducing the risk of infection in patients requiring surgery for open fractures. In the largest known randomized-controlled trial, the research team found that contrary to current international recommendations, chlorhexidine gluconate was not superior to povidone-iodine in an alcohol or aqueous solution in preventing surgical site infection. The results suggesting health care practitioners can select either aqueous-based antisepsis solution when treating open fractures on the basis of solution availability, patient contraindications, or product cost are published in The Lancet. The authors highlight WHO estimates of millions of patients worldwide...

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and President Putin ordering nuclear deterrent forces to be placed on “special” alert has scared the bejesus out of many in the western world who are now panic searching where to buy potassium iodide in case of nuclear war. Potassium iodide can help block radioactive iodine from being absorbed by the thyroid gland, therefore protecting the gland from radiation injury during a nuclear incident. After Putin called for his nuclear forces to be combat-ready last week, U.S. Google search trends of “iodide pills” surged to the highest level since 2011, when the Fukushima nuclear disaster unfolded. Like...

There are certain doctors who are blowing the whistle on the ways our government has handled Covid-19. It seems that the only advice coming out of DC or otherwise is to get vaccinated. Any treatments or preventative measures are either ignored or outright discouraged. Everyone remembers the false notion that Ivermectin is just a “horse dewormer” despite the fact that it has been used by humans since long before Covid-19 ever existed. One doctor who is spreading the truth is Dr. Peter McCullough. He has been censored and attacked for doing so. He has taken considerable losses for his adherence to...
  • Iodine the new ivermectin: Government, media attacking all covid remedies that actually work

Pardon the post if something similar has already been posted about this topic. We've had numerous posts about Ivermectin and Covid, but I've not seen one about betadine, an iodine-based nasal spray, but this morning I was watching a podcast with Dr. Peter McCullough about the suppression of alternative treatments to covid and using Betadine as a nasal spray to treat Covid in the early stages, he describes how Bangladesh has absolutely crushed Covid by using this approach. Besides the link posted here are couple more of interest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mDnY1la50E https://www.naturalnews.com/2021-09-29-iodine-ivermectin-government-media-attacking-covid-remedies.html

For a few years now, ion propulsion technology's sci-fi mechanics have raised the standard for flying spacecraft, replacing fiery rocket tails as the new in-thing. Ion propulsion can be about 10 times faster than normal fuel and can continuously run for prolonged periods of time, gaining a wicked amount of speed along the way. One drawback, however, is it's typically employed with xenon thrusters. JAXA's Hayabusa2 mission used the classic xenon as a fuel. Xenon, a heavy noble gas, is exceptionally rare on Earth, pricey and difficult to maintain. That's why French aerospace company ThrustMe is pursuing a plan for...
  • Radioactivity is blowing in the air (from western Russia?)

Invisible for humans, but detectable for radiation-filters. A cloud with tiny levels of radioactivity, believed to originate from western Russia, has been detected over Scandinavia and European Arctic. First, in week 23 (June 2-8), iodine-131 was measured at the two air filter stations Svanhovd and Viksjøfjell near Kirkenes in short distance from Norway’s border to Russia’s Kola Peninsula. The same days, on June 7 and 8, the CTBTO-station at Svalbard measured tiny levels of the same isotope. CTBTO is the global network of radiological and seismic monitoring under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization. Norway’s nuclear watchdog, the DSA, underlines that...
  • The role of iodine vs selenium on the rising trend of autoimmune thyroiditis in iodine sufficient countries

Abstract Iodine is a trace element that is essential for the synthesis of thyroid hormones in the thyroid gland. Evidence suggests that excess iodine intake exerts a triggering effect on the development of autoimmune thyroiditis (AT), with many studies reporting a rising incidence in iodine sufficient countries. Processing excess iodine in thyroid follicular cells, during thyroid hormone synthesis, may result in increased amounts of reactive oxygen species, leading to thyroid cell damage and the triggering of thyroid autoimmunity. Another trace element, selenium found in high amounts in the thyroid, is very important for thyroid physiology. Selenium is incorporated into selenoproteins...
  • Finns run for iodine after blasts at Japanese nuclear plant

Concerns about possible radiation from Japan's earthquake-damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant sparked a weekend run on iodine tablets as far away as Finland, the country's largest pharmacy chain said Monday. "On Saturday there was a run on iodine, but the situation calmed down and we were able to replenish the stock on Sunday," Yliopiston Apteekki spokesman Jari Kokkonen told AFP. Kokkonen said that some of their pharmacies in central Finnish cities like Tampere and Jyvaeskylae ran out of iodine completely on Saturday. He believes the run on iodine was mostly due to people flying to Japan or the region, adding...

The Hypatia stone, as it is known, is not only extraterrestrial in origin. It contains micro-mineral compounds not known to occur anywhere on Earth, not found in any other meteorites, and not known to occur anywhere in the Solar System. It's a discovery that raises some questions about the formation of the Solar System. Subsequent analysis revealed that the diamond-filled stone was not from any known comet or meteorite - its combined features were unique among known extraterrestrial materials. One hypothesis proposed that it might be a fragment of comet nucleus, shocked on impact, and another found that it was...

A trace of radioactive Iodine-131 of unknown origin was in January detected over large areas in Europe. Since the isotope has a half-life of only eight days, the detection is a proof of a rather recent release. Where the radioactivity is coming from is still a mystery. The air filter station at Svanhovd was the first to measure small amounts of the radioactive Ionide-131 in the second week of January. The station is located a few hundred metres from Norway’s border to Russia’s Kola Peninsula in the north. Soon, the same Iodine-131 isotope was measured in Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland....

Since January 2017, low levels of radioactive Iodine-131 contamination have been detected over various European countries. Highest levels have been detected in Poland. The radioactive particles were first detected in Finland. Source is anyone's guess, but the initial area of detection and area of highest concentration point to Russia. I disagree with the blog's conclusion that this is likely to be a nuclear test since I-131 has a short half-life of 8 days. More likely, there's an ongoing issue with a Russian nuclear reactor. (Doesn't have to be a power station - could be a sub or other naval reactor.)

A surprising new report questions public health efforts to get Americans to sharply cut back on salt, saying it’s not clear whether eating super-low levels is worth the struggle... --snip-- “We’re not saying we shouldn’t be lowering excessive salt intake,” said Dr. Brian Strom of the University of Pennsylvania, who led the IOM committee. But below 2,300 mg a day, “there is simply a lack of data that shows it is beneficial.” The average American consumes more than 3,400 mg of sodium a day, equivalent to 1 ½ teaspoons. Current U.S. dietary guidelines say most people should limit that to...

I see today that Andrea Mitchell has breast cancer. I read threads here and at other sources from time to time of others newly diagnosed or struggling with it. What you won't hear most of the medical community tell you is, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, other reproductive cancers, including prostate, are tied directly to iodine deficiency. Same applies for breast and uterine fibroids and enlarged prostate glands. As well as goiter or nodules on the thyroid. I felt compelled to start a thread on this as we ALL need iodine and we are almost ALL deficient in it. Iodine is...
