At the rate his team is going, Fresno Mayor Lee Brand might have to raise his job-creation goals. The first-year mayor has said at several public events recently that he wants to bring 10,000 permanent, new jobs to the city. Those jobs, in turn, would produce a ripple effect leading to the creation of 10,000 more jobs in the local economy. What would Fresno and surrounding cities look like with 20,000 people who are now unemployed going to work? Significantly better. General funds would rise. There would be more revenue for public safety, road maintenance and parks. Families would prosper,...

Amazon.com today announced plans to open a fulfillment center in Fresno that will employ up to 2,500 people. The 855,000 square-foot facility will be located in a burgeoning business zone at Orange and Central avenues — about 1,000 acres that is being primed for e-commerce and data center jobs, said Mayor Lee Brand in an interview. Brand said there has been a lot of behind-the-scenes work getting the $100 million project permitted, and he expects a groundbreaking within 30 days, and about one year to build the center — putting an opening in the second half of 2018. It will...

I've noticed that leaving my browser open to FR really slows down my internet connection and or simply disrupts google Chrome. This started happening after last year's big long crash. Anybody else seeing problems?

Retail trade is one of the biggest job sectors in America, and the vast majority of those workers still clock in at brick-and-mortar stores. But the big growth is coming from e-commerce, which happens to pay a lot better, too. This is a promising development for retail workers who worry about thousands of store closings and the march of automation. E-commerce also offers a potential antidote to years of low productivity growth and income stagnation. “If this new pattern continues, it will raise real wages across the economy and rejuvenate the middle class,” said a report by economist Michael Mandel...

President Donald Trump tweeted late Sunday that the "fake" news media wants him to stop using social media because it's how he get's the truth out. "The Fake News Media works hard at disparaging & demeaning my use of social media because they don't want America to hear the real story!" — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 29, 2017 The tweet followed two about Republican efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare: "I suggest that we add more dollars to Healthcare and make it the best anywhere. ObamaCare is dead - the Republicans will...

I use FaceBook frequently for the last 3 years. Please don't post don't use it. My family and funds are suers and it is easy to stay in touch. I post a lot of politics including my comments and cartoons. For the last week after I share 4-5 statements ( a lot against the Clintons) or cartoons I have received the obnoxious security check boxes where you have to type in a series of letters some of which I am unable to read. Five days ago the note said You have posted nudity. I never post nudity and two times...

As I write this, there is a crowd outside the house of FCC commissioner Pai. His crime? He is returning control of the internet to internet service providers (ISPs). The Obama administration enacted "Net Neutrality" in defiance of a Supreme Court decision. In essence, Barack Obama seized ISP property because the ISPs weren't serving the public interest. This was exactly how socialist revolutionary Benito Mussolini defined Fascism: a system where citizens own private property so long as they serve the public interest. Churchill said Fascism would take root in the West under the guise of anti-Fascism, but I digress. My...

Not long after Donald Trump’s surprising presidential victory, an article published in the Swiss weekly Das Magazin, and reprinted online in English by Vice, began churning through the Internet. While pundits were dissecting the collapse of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, the journalists for Das Magazin, Hannes Grassegger and Mikael Krogerus, pointed to an entirely different explanation—the work of Cambridge Analytica, a data science firm created by a British company with deep ties to the British and American defense industries. According to Grassegger and Krogerus, Cambridge Analytica had used psychological data culled from Facebook, paired with vast amounts of consumer information purchased...

I recently installed a Netgear Nighthawk X6 router. I've replaced the default passwords with 10 digit, random, unrelated characters. Two of my devices (a desktop and a laptop) are running Avast free virus protection. When I run an Avast scan, it says Service is vulnerable to attacks from within your network. When I click on their recommended solution, they say to update the firmware. I've gone to the Netgear website and it says all is updated. I recently vacationed in Colorado. I stayed at a private condo and used their wifi. I ran the Avast scan on my laptop. At...

Saudi Arabia rolled out the red carpet for US President Donald Trump on his inaugural overseas trip, but a moment involving a glowing orb had observers scratching their heads. Trump attended the opening of the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology on Sunday alongside his host, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, reported the state-run Saudi Press Agency. As the lights dimmed, the three leaders officially "activated" the new center by placing their hands on an illuminated globe as a four-minute introduction video displayed on large screens behind them, according to local media.

Google is by far the most used search engine in the world. Think about that. Left-wingers seem to hate the late Roger Ailes, who died May 18 at 77, more than they hate any other conservatives or Republicans. This hatred manifests itself in Google’s search results which are dramatically skewed in favor of articles attacking the extremely influential founder of Fox News, Ian Miles Cheong of Heat Street discovered. (See screen grab of search results above.)

Following yesterday's exploration of the #BrockGate documents and our look at Media Matters' "Trump War Room", new findings indicate that Media Matters has access to the raw data of numerous social media platforms, plus the power to influence their understanding on what is and isn't "fake news." The following is an excerpt from page 10 of the #BrockGate document: "Media Matters has already secured access to raw data from Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites. We have also put in place the technology necessary to automatically mine white nationalist message boards and alt-right communities for our archive. We will...

The possible existence of a subversive American “deep state” has captivated the attention of political observers and supporters of President Trump for months, and for the first time, evidence has allegedly surfaced that casts a light on the shadowy operations of a group many claim is working to bring down the Presidency. This information comes as President Trump is battling his worst week in Washington so far. In the past seven days, a constant stream of leaks and unsourced stories have sent the Trump White House into a tail-spin, and calls for his impeachment have grown. On Wednesday night, just...

John says we're up but we still have some configuration problems, but they're going to have to wait until he gets home (3 hours). His laptop is not working and the only way he can get in is by his phone and that's giving errors. He's afraid others on mobile devices may be getting errors too. We're on a new version of the db software now and apparently there are some compatibility issues. And we're sporting some new drives including a new SSD (solid state) drive. Should be working pretty good after he works out the configuration problems, then he...
