President Obama said "politics did shift midsummer" because of the ongoing border crisis, forcing him to delay any executive action on immigration until after the midterm elections. "The truth of the matter is-- is that the politics did shift midsummer because" of the "surge in kids who were showing up at the border, got a lot of attention," Obama said in an interview with NBC's Meet the Press, which is set to air Sunday. Obama's comments come after the White House announced that the president decided against taking action "soon" on immigration, citing the "political season" and "Republican's extreme politicization...

Human Cost: The point above, made to President Obama by a grieving father whose 25-year-old son was run over by an illegal alien who won't be deported, underscores the high price of open borders for U.S. citizens. That grieving father, Donald Rosenberg, has put another human face on the growing problem of importing crime through the Obama administration's tolerance of illegal immigration. His plea also highlights the White House's refusal to deport those who shouldn't be here after they do grievous harm to Americans, sometimes even killing them. In a letter sent to Obama last month, Rosenberg, a self-described "lifelong,...

Gov. Chris Christie, who has long avoided wading into the immigration debate, said Thursday in Mexico City that he won't lay out his position on immigration reform unless he decides to run for president. "Until that time I have no role in the immigration debate, except for how it may affect the individual citizens of New Jersey, which I'll deal with as governor," the New Jersey Republican told reporters. "But I won't have anything to say on immigration unless and until I become a candidate for president of the United States," he continued. "If that happens, then I will articulate...

Venezuela's Roman Catholic Church has admonished the ruling Socialist Party for re-writing the Christian "Lord's Prayer" into an ode to its beloved late leader Hugo Chavez. "The Lord's Prayer, the typical prayer for Christians around the world, comes from the very lips of our Lord Jesus Christ... and is therefore untouchable," the local Catholic Church said in a statement. A party member introduced the prayer on the podium of the party congress on Monday, imploring Chavez for protection from the evils of capitalism."Our Chavez who art in heaven, the earth, the sea and in us delegates," red-shirted delegate Maria Estrella...

Wednesday on Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show," former CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson said the Obama administration is refusing to tell Congress where the ten of thousands of unaccompanied minors who crossed the U.S.-Mexican Border this summer were sent after they were processed though holding centers along the border. Attkisson said the Obama administration seems to be intentionally stonewalling by not answering letters from members of Congress or reporters questions.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie stepped out on the international stage Wednesday to talk trade with Mexico, but he stayed mum on one of the most pressing questions confronting the two countries and his party: immigration reform. On a trip designed to help school him in foreign policy and court Hispanic voters should he seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, Christie stuck to economic issues and spoke of a “North American energy renaïssance” in which the U.S., Mexico and Canada ramp up investments and do away with “foolish” regulations. […] But there was no acknowledgement of the need for...

Immigration rights advocates are pushing President Obama to brush aside calls from fellow Democrats to delay executive action on deportations until after the election. "I say to the Democrats: Stand aside," Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) said during a press call Wednesday. "Let the president make a decision; let him announce it; and stop this stopping the progress of our community towards justice." Other advocates piled on. "The president said that he was ready to take bold action, and a few Democrats should not stand in the way," said Clarissa Martínez-De-Castro, deputy vice president of policy at the National Council of...

Congress's loudest immigrant rights advocate delivered a terse message Wednesday to the Senate Democrats who are urging President Obama to delay executive action on deportations until after the election: Get out of the way. "I say to the Democrats: Stand aside," Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) said during a press call. "Let the president make a decision; let him announce it; and stop this stopping the progress of our community towards justice." In June, Obama warned GOP leaders that, in the absence of congressional action on immigration reform, he would consider unilateral policy changes recommended by top administration officials "before the...

Republicans have a clear advantage on immigration in a recent poll, a potent weapon for GOP candidates in the final stretch of the midterm elections. The George Washington University Battleground Poll shows that more Americans trust Republicans to do a better job handling immigration than Democrats, 48 to 41 percent — and in states with competitive Senate races, the share of people who trust Republicans more on immigration jumps to 61 percent. In addition, the poll shows that 58 percent of Americans either somewhat or strongly disapprove of President Obama's handling of immigration. he findings indicate that immigration could be...

The left is very good at inventing rights that appear nowhere in the Constituion. These "positive rights" authorize the government to bestow goodies on the public, unlike "negative rights" which tell the government what it cannot do. Ergo, liberals invented the "right" to health insurance, the "right" to marry whoever you want to, and more. Poisitive rights are insidious in that they undermine the balance between liberty and responsibility. Moreover, positive rights chain the individual to the collective,. rather than free the individual from state control as negative rights do.

While everyone is focusing on what Obama will do with his upcoming illegal alien executive order, the rest of his administration is quietly working behind the scenes to enact amnesty through a piecemeal approach. Now, we have learned that the Department of Justice is actively targeting businesses and punishing them for trying to verify an employee’s residency status! That’s right, the DOJ has fined Culinaire International – a restaurant-management company – more than $20,000 because the business had the gall to ask employees to provide proof of legal residency in the United States! In this case, this company sought to...

An illegal immigrant who killed two children in a hit-and-run accident is not only avoiding deportation from the United States, she won’t receive any prison time at all. Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros, an illegal immigrant, recently had her immigration case dismissed, despite the fact that she was convicted of two felonies for a hit-and-run that resulted in the tragic deaths of two young girls. On top of the fact that her case was dismissed—although the reason for dismissal and the judge’s name have not been released—Garcia-Cisneros received no prison time for her conviction, an example of how the immigration laws in the...

San Francisco is providing health care as well as education for the unaccompanied immigrant children seeking refuge in the United States. Since last year, more than 47,000 minors have crossed the border into the country unescorted by adults. As many as 500 youth refugees from conflicts in Central America are expected to arrive in San Francisco by the end of the year, the Department of Public Health estimates. And The City is solidly committed to providing them health care via San Francisco's public options, according to a resolution The City's Health Commission is expected to pass today. Under the Healthcare...

A new report puts the price of educating the thousands of illegal immigrant children who recently crossed into the U.S. at a whopping $761 million this school year -- as some school systems push for the feds to pick up the tab. The estimate comes from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), which issued a report on the 37,000 “unaccompanied minors” – who mainly are from Central America – after analyzing data from the Department of Health and Human Services and education funding formulas in all 50 states. The numbers underscore the concerns critics have raised for months about...

Earlier, I noted that the UK at least had begun planning to deal with its hundreds of citizens who went to fight for ISIS while the US and other similarly-situated Western countries have mostly wrung their hands over the issue. The US has a potentially bigger issue, though, in dealing with foreign nationals studying here legally. ABC News reports that the Department of Homeland Security can’t find more than 6,000 people living here on student visas — which sounds awfully familiar:CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO The Department of Homeland Security has lost track of more than 6,000 foreign...

What we all felt was going on with Glen Beck has been confirmed. We knew the weasel was up to something. He has been stabbing conservatives in the back and now we know why. While he was holding the door for illegal aliens and raising money from suckers to encourage the destruction of America with amnesty he was sucking up to the sinking ship that is CNN. With its long history of lies and half-truths and his disgraceful treachery toward the institutions that have delivered him to the cushy life he leads, CNN and Beck were a potentially “made in...

A Dallas teen strangled his 5-year-old cousin Sunday, then dumped her body in a vacant apartment unit near his own, police said. Angel Lizandro Sanches-Zenteno, 17, was booked Monday morning, some 12 hours after police found little Kathrine Alejandra Gonzalez dead in a unit at the Lake Highlands apartment complex. Authorities believe the murder suspect came into the country illegally about a year ago and have issued an immigration hold, along with a charge of capital murder of a person under 6 years old.

As part of a legal settlement that will allow some illegal immigrants who deported themselves from Southern California to return to the United States, the federal government has agreed to advertise the settlement on various Mexican and Spanish-language media outlets. The ACLU filed a class-action lawsuit last year on behalf of eleven illegal immigrants who deported themselves. The settlement reached on Wednesday will only cover "longtime California residents with relatives who are U.S. citizens and... young migrants whose parents brought them into the country illegally" who deported themselves between 2009 and 2013. An ACLU official has indicated that there were...

Some homeowners in the Hamptons are puzzled and angry after finding recruitment pamphlets for the Ku Klux Klan at their homes. As CBS 2’s Jennifer McLogan reported Tuesday, Fernando Alvarez said he found the fliers under his Hampton Bays door. His family was left wondering if they were targets of the hate group, or if the leafleting was random. “We were really shocked that … in this area we can have KKK,” Alvarez said. […] The Loyal White Knights, a KKK branch based in the South, referred CBS 2 to its grand dragon, Robert Jones. He said he is unaware...
