Former President Barack Obama has once again lashed out at the Trump administration and Senate Republicans, this time during a virtual fundraiser for former Vice President Joe Biden’s White House campaign on Tuesday. A Democratic mayor in Washington state spoke out this week against the protests supporting the Black Lives Matter movement — after a group of vandals damaged her home. An ex-MP has questioned breakfast foods giant Kellogg's over its use of a monkey and "white boys" on cereal boxes, suggesting it is racist. Fiona Onasanya, who was jailed for lying to police about speeding, spoke about her concerns on Twitter. The Aunt Jemima brand of syrup and pancake mix will get a new name and image, Quaker Oats announced Wednesday, saying the company recognizes that "Aunt Jemima's origins are based on a racial stereotype." The 130-year-old brand features a Black woman named Aunt Jemima, who was originally dressed as a minstrel character. The picture has changed over time, and in recent years Quaker removed the “mammy” kerchief from the character to blunt growing criticism that the brand perpetuated a racist stereotype that dated to the days of slavery.
