Yesterday was the Winter Solstice, and the neo-pagans in DUmmieland have been celebrating THAT more than they will celebrate Christmas--certainly more than the REAL Christmas, which has to do with the birth of Christ. There have been numerous "Happy Solstice!" threads, but the one Christmas thread that's getting responses should have a Missing Baby Alert posted on it. It's this THREAD, "Do you celebrate Christmas?" So let us don our gay apparel and venture into the White Witch's DUmmieland, where it is always winter and never Christmas. The DUmmie cheer is in Non-Religious Red, while the commentary of your...

Tiger Woods life has changed dramatically ever since that fateful night at the neighbor's tree. He's stepped aside from the PGA Tour (for the moment) and his sponsors have all either dropped him or rearranged his "duties." We probably won't hear directly from Tiger again for some time. His own personal domestic issues have ruined his career and killed his reputation. Why did David Letterman get a pass? I would argue that Mr. Letterman's actions were a lot worse considering the circumstances. He abused his position of power over young, ambitious females to gain control over them in a sexual...

Let's just say I'm not stupid enough to stop providing my family with health insurance coverage BUT here's how my scenario would work out if I did ... and you can bet your sweet a$$ that others have figured this out ... particularly young single middle-class men and women with expendable incomes ... and your stupid federal government? Not so much.

North Pole—In an exclusive interview, Santa berates Congress for recently ending debate on government run healthcare. In this shocking exposé, you’ll hear hard hitting journalism you won’t get from the mainstream media. Elective Decisions asks the tough questions liberals are afraid to ask Santa. Santa weighs in on the Constitutionality of the healthcare legislation. He chimes in on the entire Democrat Party, the direction of America, and he even gives us a tip on what Democrats will receive in their stockings this Christmas. This interview isn’t for children. It isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s the kind of interview...

In response to questions about the Constitutional authorization for requiring Americans to purchase health insurance, Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark) advanced an in loco parentis concept of the role of government. “It is our government’s responsibility to safeguard the health and welfare of its citizens,” Lincoln explained. “I like to think that America is like one big family. We in congress are like the parents who are charged with looking out for all the members of this family.” The Senator compared complaints about the proposed health care legislation to children’s objections to being told to eat their vegetables, to brush their...

An analysis performed by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University in Virginia found that funds from the “stimulus legislation” bore no correlation to economic need. That is, sections of the country with the highest unemployment weren’t favored over sections that are relatively better off. The analysis indicated that a better predictor of where federal money would be spent was whether the location had a Democrat representing it in Congress. Congressional districts that elected a Democrat received twice as much stimulus money as districts electing a Republican. White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel defended the discrepancy as “good politics.”...

This is a great video of a yellow Lab chasing down and catching a big fish. I showed this to my husband and he told me that there is no way our St Bernard would ba able to do it. Well, if you like dogs you are going to love this video. Check out this video of a yellow Lab catching a huge fish If you have a doggy ping list you need to notify your followers. They will will not be disappointed.

This is a video that helps explain the mentality of news reporters. Check out this airhead news reporter doing a report on gun safety. The woman reporter in this video keeps pointing the loaded gun at the cameraman. Even after she fired a round down range at a target she looks at the camera and non nonchalantly shakes the gun with the barrel pointed towards the cameraman. Honestly, you cannot make this stuff up. Then, as if that part of the video is not bad enough, notice how the cameraman never seems to realize that his life is in danger....

Since the liberal reaction was overwhelmingly negative to our "11 Reasons Why Scrooge Is A Progressive," we're introducing 10 Reasons Why The Grinch Is A Progressive. Revealed for the first time: the Christmas-snatching Grinch is actually a politically-correct progressive. Here are the top ten pieces of evidence. 1. Instead of using a snowmobile prefers more environmentally-correct dog-powered sled. So he took his dog Max, and he took some black thread, and he tied a big horn on the top of his head. 2. As a vegan, the Grinch refuses to eat Roast Beast. 3. Out-of-touch mountain retreat similar to confines...

Washington—As debate rages on in both the House of Representatives and U.S. Senate as to who the biggest whore in Congress is, Senator John McCain, R-AZ, went on Fox News Sunday to argue his case that Ben Nelson was by far the biggest whore. McCain went on to say that anyone who let himself be used by Senator Reid so easily was hands down the biggest slut he’d ever seen. “What this man did,” claimed McCain on Fox News Sunday, “was to demonstrate how big a harlot he was on a public stage. At least Senator Landrieu went out behind...

Ahmad Vahidi, Iran’s Minister of Defense, announced that the latest test of its Sajjil-2 missile was “a complete success. We will now be able to deliver the outputs of our peaceful nuclear development program to locations as far as 1900 kilometers away in a matter of minutes.” Vahidi noted that “this should serve as a warning to the Zionist terrorists that their days are numbered. The continued Jewish occupation of Palestine is now untenable. Withdrawal or annihilation are the only remaining options for them.” The Minister dismissed the possibility of an Israeli strike against Iran. “Muslims are not afraid of...

One of my favorite pastimes is fishing. Ever since I was a young boy growing up in Northern Minnesota, I have enjoyed the leisure sport of fishing. In the last 5 years I have taken up the sport of fly Fishing and found it to be even more enjoyable then fishing with a reel and worms. I have fished many rivers and in many states across this vast country, but I have never ventured outside of America to fish. I always thought that someday I might like to fish in Canada. Then after watching this video and seeing how they...

Now I know why I never have any luck in catching salmon. After watching this video i realize that I have been going about it all wrong. I usually leave my lab dog home because he just plays in the water and scares away the fish. Next time I'll bring him with and sit back with a beer as I watch him catch the salmon for me.Follow this link to see a yellow lab catching a huge salmon You will not be disappointed, trust me.

I have to admit it. I am jealous of former Vice President Al Gore. I want what he's got, at least in a generalized way. It isn't that I envy him for having been vice president. The number two spot has traditionally been one not well regarded and only a few VPs have made the position an important one, if only in a fleeting way. Thomas Jefferson did some excellent work fashioning the procedure of the Senate while he was the veep, Nixon became an important part of Ike's foreign policy team, and Dick Cheney became, well, Dick Cheney! But...

Representative Alan Grayson (D-Fla) has filed a complaint with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder demanding that a pesky critic of his be prosecuted. The critic is one Angie Langley—originator of a web site called “mycongressmanisnuts.com.” “It’s a sad day for America when a nobody like Ms. Langley can harass a member of congress with impunity,” Grayson complained. “People should be taught respect for those of us who govern them. We shouldn’t have to endure the kind of round-the-clock mockery being dished out by the people who live under us.” The basis for Grayson’s contention that Langley ought to go to...

In (dis)honor of Ben Nelson’s collapse of integrity, I offer up a video that pokes fun at toupees. As one reader put it, Nelson was destined to cave under pressure because men in toupees can’t be trusted.

Since Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has indicated that he'll make the Senate work through Christmas Eve in an attempt to pass a "health care" reform bill. Harry warrants a special Christmas tune: "You know Schumer and Durbin, And Barney and Nancy..."

Our President has once again jetted off on AF1. Yep, he’s back in Copenhagen to save the world from those evil carbon footprints like the giant ones emitting from his 747. The health care debate is at an impasse, at least for a short time, and can wait until he saves the world—again (yaaaaaaaaaaawn!) Despite the efforts of Senators Joe Lieberman and Tom Coburn, a truncated bill of some kind will probably get passed against citizen wishes by about 60% against VS 35% for. All this will do is glorify the “One” currently residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, when he...

At Elective Decisions, we're just getting started on Senator Ben Nelson. But we want to know what the American people think. Feel free to vote as often as you like. Follow the link. We will also be happy to provide you with a link to the poll for email purposes. Have fun and vote with passion!

A very Merry Christmas to decent and civilized people all over the world, but stockings full of coal and sticks to the primitives who almost, but didn't quite, cut it in 2009. The voting for TOP PRIMITIVE OF 2009 didn't seem to go hardly the way I had predicted, but then and again, I've never had much success as a predictor, especially in elections. When looking at the list of the nearly-wons among the primitives, one is reminded that in the 1700s in England (or perhaps it was during the 1800s in France), that an admiral (in England; or perhaps...

Ok, now I have seen hunting dogs track down an animal, but this is the first time I have ever seen a dog catch a fish. And not just any fish, this dog is playing in the water, then he sees a salmon and chases it until he catches it. then he brings it to shore for his owner. Awesome must see video. Check out the yellow lab chasing down and catching a huge salmon

It would be funnier if it wasn't true.

The idea that pending legislation ought to be read at least once before being enacted into law doesn’t seem too unreasonable. Nevertheless, a Republican request that a 700+ page amendment to the pending health care bill be read before the Senate votes on it was labeled “obstructionist” and blocked by the Democratic leadership. “The size of the bills we are dealing with precludes this seemingly reasonable step,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev). “The amendment is over 700 pages. The main bill is over 2,000 pages. It would take days of our precious time to read these measures before...

Have you heard? The Democratic National Committee Services Corporation (DNC Services Corporation or, Corporation) is “considering” revising its Presidential nominating rules. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/12/05/democrats-consider-new-presidential-nominating-process/ ... “We need to improve a little bit in spite of the fact that we got a great candidate out of the process,” Clyburn said Saturday at a meeting of a DNC working group tasked with drafting a new plan. “It was not very comfortable at various points along the way.” (Emphasis added by jbjd.) Ya think? ... Both the movie “Jaws” and the television show “Saturday Night Live” debuted in 1975. The hysteria – which Merriem-Webster defines...

In a Washington Post op ed, Penn State University Professor Michael Mann insisted that “Palin and other global warming deniers have distorted the content” of the e-mails from the British University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit. “Ms. Palin and her ilk are pulling words out of context to create the impression that global warming is a hoax,” Mann said. “She is merely broadcasting her ignorance of scientific terminology in pursuit of a political agenda bent on preventing governments from exercising the necessary control to avert climate catastrophe.” Among the “scientific terms” Governor Palin is said to have misconstrued are...

You can now add the KOmmies to the ranks of those who HATE the Harry Reid version of ObamaCare. For some reason, the Democrats seem intent on committing electoral suicide in order to ensure that some bill, ANY bill, passes the Senate by Christmas. You can see the KOmmie angst over ObamaCare (ReidCare) in this THREAD, "Voters Revolt: Only 33% Support for New Senate Health Care Bill." The KOmmies object to ReidCare because it doesn't include their beloved option. Rational people oppose it because it does way more harm than good. In fact, Robert Byrd may be the first...

I like fishing just like anyone, but fishing on a frozen lake is not my idea of a good way to spend the afternoon. No sir, give me a fly rod and a nice river and I can fish all day long. Now these guys have found an interesting way to find out exactly where the fish in the lake are. I would not recommend it, but if you are from the extreme North, then I am sure you have either done it this way or at least contemplated it. Either way you really need to check out this video,...

Aurora, CO—In a stunning show of support for Mark R. Levin, a local Denver man has chained himself to a post outside KNUS radio in Aurora, Colorado. Chris Davis—a 42-year old unemployed accountant—has set up a camp site with a sleeping bag, food and other supplies. The man claims that he will remain there until the radio station changes its radio format, airing the Mark Levin Show at the correct local time.

Bear in mind that some of the following actually did air on Christmas days past. But if you're any kind of old-time radio nut---and I am, certifiable, glazed, and dry-roasted---you have got to love the cornucopia of surviving Christmas-themed radio shows. (No, Virginia, this nice Jewish boy does not have a problem with what amounts to saying "Happy birthday!" to a nice Jewish boy!) You could consider the survival of these shows something of a miracle in itself. (When you consider that a lot of the original sponsors and even network outlets saw fit to trash several thousand shellac discs...

Here's the press release Washington, D.C. - FOX News is reporting that a bill signed by President Obama this week, which was intended to require Amtrak passengers who want to bring a gun on the train to secure the gun, instead calls for the passengers themselves to place themselves in secure boxes. Officials of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence note that a certain type of such box is readily available. Each year in the U.S., some 30,000 Americans who are killed with guns are placed in similar boxes. Although the intent of the new law was clearly not...

As a political blogger, President Obama has given me an abundance of gifts this year - so many mishandled situations, bad decisions and flawed legislation to write about. So as the season of gift giving is nearing its climactic conclusion, I give you: The 12 Days Of Christmas During The Obama AdministrationOn the first day of Christmas Obama gave to me A health care bill nobody's read On the second day of Christmas Obama gave to me Cuts to Medicare And a health care bill nobody's read On the third day of Christmas Obama gave to me Trillions more in...
