  • Wisconsin and Minnesota: A One-Sided Political Competition

Wisconsin and Minnesota have long made fascinating bookends. As longtime readers may recall, the two neighboring states have similar sizes, similar populations, similar demographics, and even similar climates. But they don’t necessarily have similar politics, at least not lately. In the 2010 elections, the Badger State elected Scott Walker (R) governor and gave control of the legislature to Republicans, while the Gopher State made Mark Dayton (D) governor and, in 2012, elected a Democratic legislature*. The former got to work targeting collective bargaining and approving tax cuts, while the latter raised taxes on the wealthy and boosted in-state investments. Nearly...

If you feel like it is impossible to put certain foods down, there could be a reason. A new report is naming some of the most addictive foods and explaining why they are so hard to resist. According to the Huffington Post, the following foods are among the most addictive: pizza, chocolate, chips, cookies, and ice cream. The report shows foods that cause the most mental distress and physical discomfort are highly processed, as well as high in added fats and sugars. Food is not currently classified as an addiction, but experts say it can impact how you feel.

Eric Lindros has launched a $250,000 defamation lawsuit against former NHL referee Paul Stewart and the Huffington Post, after Stewart wrote a column for the online news website that allegedly made the former Philadelphia Flyers star forward look like a "dickhead." In documents filed in an Ontario court, Lindros says his reputation has been sullied after Stewart wrote about his poor on-ice relationship with Lindros, which was capped by an incident when Lindros allegedly tore up posters he was asked by Stewart to autograph for a charity.

After being derided and charged with trafficking in wild conspiracy theories, Glenn Beck redoubled his warnings that the uprisings in Egypt could lead to an Islamic caliphate spreading across the Middle East on his radio show Thursday. Beck has come under criticism for his doomsday vision of the potential fallout from the Egyptian revolution. He has warned that the world is "being divvied up" by the "uber left" and the "Islamicists," and that what was formerly "Ancient Babylon" could emerge as the new seat of "evil" and center of the new caliphate.

Human Events’ readers, in an online poll, recently voted billionaire financier George Soros “the single most destructive leftist demagogue in the country.” Here are the Top 10 Reasons George Soros Is Dangerous1. Gives billions to left-wing causes: Soros started the Open Society Institute in 1993 as a way to spread his wealth to progressive causes. Using Open Society as a conduit, Soros has given more than $7 billion to a who’s who of left-wing groups. This partial list of recipients of Soros’ money says it all: ACORN, Apollo Alliance, National Council of La Raza, Tides Foundation, Huffington Post, Southern Poverty...

WASHINGTON -- Protesters interrupted lunch in a Capitol Hill cafeteria Wednesday, holding a "die-in" to honor Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager who was killed by police in Ferguson, Missouri, last summer. About 50 protesters congregated in a U.S. House of Representatives office cafeteria in Washington, D.C., chanting "Black Lives Matter" and taking over the space in front of the cash registers. They held signs reading "outlaw racial profiling" and "stop jump outs" and stayed on the floor for about four and a half minutes, recalling the four and a half hours that Brown's body remained face down in the...

Stop the presses! The Huffington Post has an incredible scoop about Ted Cruz's response to Obama's State Of The Union address last night. Your expectations will be understandably high when you see the headline they placed on the story: The Ted Cruz Speech He Did Not Want You To See. So what horror did Cruz commit in his speech that he "Did Not Want You To See?" Did he accidentally agree with Obama's tax and spend policies? Or perhaps he let out with a profane curse? Nope. Watch the video for yourself and it will put you in mind of...

Trevor Loudon wrote an article that each and every one of us should read and take note of: Intifada USA? American Radicals Build Ties to “Palestinian” Revolutionaries. I agree completely with Trevor when he says that 2015 could usher in chaos, unrest and violence as we have not seen in our lifetime. The Communists are now joining hands in America with the Radical Islamists, forming an American Intifada – an uprising, resistance, revolt. They are using racism as the building blocks and their hate for America as the glue to forward massive havoc and violence in our streets. The riots...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)Following the ratification of Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) as chair of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committtee last week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was named chair of the Subcommittee on Space, Science and Competitiveness, where he will oversee NASA and science programs. Appointed Jan. 8, Cruz is expected to be confirmed to the new role by the end of the month as one of many changes to the new Republican-controlled Congress. But the Republican senator's words and actions during his time in office have painted him to be a far cry from an advocate for the sciences, leaving many...

This past week, The Huffington Post and several major websites displayed malware-laced advertisements that infected computers and locked them down. The cyberattack and extortion campaign was discovered by researchers at cybersecurity firm Cyphort. The hackers are demanding money to unlock computers infected with their malware. It's unclear how many computers were infected. The attack appears to have only affected people running Windows PCs using outdated browsers, including Internet Explorer 8 -- the most-used version of Microsoft's IE browser. Modern, updated browsers such as Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome and Mozilla's latest version of Firefox were not susceptible to the malware.

Here’s a question: how can you tell when you are reading “news” from the Huffington Post? Answer: When both views on a highly controversial topic are NOT given…meaning, only the liberal view. Case in point: An article Samantha Lachman at the Huffington Post wrote on Monday about the Federal appeals court declaring a North Carolina law requiring abortion providers to show a woman the ultrasound and describing the images in detail before going through an abortion as unconstitutional. The Huffington Post decided to quote only abortion advocates like Planned Parenthood and The Center for Reproductive Rights. From the Huffington Post:...

WASHINGTON -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) blamed this weekend's killing of two NYPD officers on anti-police "propaganda," for which he said President Barack Obama bears some responsibility. "We've had four months of propaganda, starting with the president, that everybody should hate the police," said Giuliani during an appearance on "Fox News Sunday." "I don't care how you want to describe it -- that's what those protests are all about." Giuliani cited the nationwide protests against institutional racism and police brutality that followed the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in New York,...

Crony Capitalism: Sen. Elizabeth Warren delivered a stemwinder speech last Friday on the need for government to rein in Wall Street influence. But it's big government that created the monster in the first place. Warren, D-Mass., was attacking a "dangerous provision" in the so-called cromnibus spending bill that, she said, stripped a part of Dodd-Frank that big banks, particularly Citigroup, don't like. Her speech had the left slobbering over itself. Michael Tomasky, writing for the Daily Beast, said Warren's "weekend heroics" made her the "most powerful Democrat in America." The Huffington Post ran a column calling it "the speech that...

[I love the idea of going to Mars. We humans are explorers and pioneers. But if government does this, it will be just too costly, like the Apollo Moon program. Elon Musk of the private SpaceX company already has put rockets into space and he wants to send settlers to Mars, including himself. So since governments have screwed up this planet, how about reserving Mars for free people?!] Breaking: NASA is sending humans to Mars NASA has announced that a test launch of their Orion space capsule will take place on Thursday, in the first step of a mission that...

In recent years, Cleveland police officers have punched a 13-year-old boy who was in handcuffs for shoplifting and shot at an unarmed kidnapping victim who was wearing only his underwear, according to disturbing allegations released Thursday by the Justice Department. The agency's investigation found that officers in Cleveland routinely use unjustifiable force against not only criminals and suspects, but also innocent victims of crimes. The so-called “pattern or practice” report from the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division was released Thursday afternoon as DOJ and the city announced plans to develop a court-enforceable agreement that would impose an independent monitor on...
  • The Real Danger to Israel's Security Is Netanyahu

As prime minister, Netanyahu has consistently invoked his solemn duty to protect Israel's national security. Ironically, he has become the single most reckless individual who is imperiling the very security of the state. One need not look far and wide to discern Netanyahu's disingenuousness and misguided policies that have only undermined Israel's future security. He uses his political skills to deceive and mislead in order to "protect himself from political defeat" while disregarding what is best for the future of the state. He surrounds himself with cronies blinded by their skewed ideological zeal with no morals or scruples to support...

The Huffington Post published a story by Amanda Terkel which purportedly showed that the daughter  of the lesbian mayor of Houston, Annise Parker, was denied a driver's license because she has two moms. The story included a tweet from the mayor claiming this as the cause for denial. Unfortunately for the mayor, an update to the story proved her to have been lying about this incident. First let us look at the initial Huffington Post article in which the daughter of the mayor was supposedly subjected to discrimination due to having two moms:
