Becoming a Hooters Girl isn't something everyone in the family will understand. Chante Rivera did it a year and a half ago. "My mom was so excited," said Rivera. "She's like, "You're going to have so much fun there. You are so pretty. I am so proud of you." My dad, he said, "I'm going to pray for you.'" [snip] Rivera's grandmother and friends from church didn't get it, either. "I was going to church every Sunday," Rivera said, "but now, football season, can't go." Rivera has been working since age 13. She once worked at a Taco Bell/KFC. Her...

SAN FRANCISCO -- The National Organization for Women filed complaints against local Hooters restaurants Thursday, but not for exploiting its scantily clad waitresses by subjecting them to leering and groping customers. The subject this time was Hooters' catering to children. The restaurants in San Francisco, San Bruno, Sacramento and Orange County are classified as "adult entertainment" establishments but also serve minors, NOW's California chapter said in papers filed with police and prosecutors. What's more, the organization said, Hooters provides child menus, high chairs and booster seats, and sells T-shirts in children's sizes that identify the wearer as a "Future Hooters...

This is probably the worst Friday night of my life - and that's saying something. I'm sat on a high stool at a small table, plasma screens are oozing sports programmes around my head and there is a grubby plastic menu in front of me that is littered with pictures of fast food. Not a green vegetable in sight, unless you count a deep fried chilli, coated in batter. There is the thump, thump, thump of awful music in the background, competing with the braying of table upon table of men: young men, old men, students, office workers, football supporters......

The manager promptly called police, and the customer made a hasty retreat from the bar, leaving both the backpack and the bar bill behind, according to a Madison Police Department report. No bomb was found in the backpack.

A former Hooters worker in Roseville stands a chance of winning her weight discrimination lawsuit based on a law written by a retired Grand Rapids legislator -- a law not found in most states. Cassandra Smith, 20, alleges a Hooters restaurant -- known for its scantily-clad waitresses -- placed her on 30-day "weight probation" earlier this month. She resigned, filing suit Monday in Macomb County Circuit Court. The suit cites the Michigan Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination by employers based on a number of factors. Height and weight discrimination were added in a 1976 amendment written by then-state...

Hooters is rattling its cans on Wall Street. The Atlanta-based "breast-aurant" chain -- famous for the scantily clad waitresses who serve up its burgers and spicy wings -- is beckoning prospective buyers, sources told The Post. Hooters has recently shopped itself to a number of private-equity firms as sales have sagged with the recession, sources said. The closely held company, meanwhile, is in advanced talks with a Connecticut-based investor that has been granted certain rights of refusal on any potential transaction, according to one source.

Women have long complained that their faces are often the last thing men look at – and now a scientific study has proved them right. Researchers found that virtually half – 47 per cent – of men first glance at a woman’s chest. A third of the so-called ‘first fixations’ are on the waist and hips, while fewer than 20 per cent look at the face. Not only are breasts often the first thing men look at, they also glance at them for longer than any other body part, the experts discovered. It’s thought that the reason might be evolutionary,...

In these recessionary times, patrons of Hooters are more interested in eying their wallets than scantily clad waitresses, or so it would seem. The Atlanta-based restaurant chain, better known for its buxom waitresses than its cuisine, is joining the gaggle of casual-dining establishments in offering a value-priced menu in the hope of drawing more... umm, clientele. Seeing as the NFL regular season is nearly underway and testosterone is hanging heavy in the air, the new menu features a football theme, says Hooters. It's a seasonal menu for the fall. New menu items start at $4.99 for "Loaded Chips," thick-sliced potato...
