Becoming a Hooters Girl isn't something everyone in the family will understand.

Chante Rivera did it a year and a half ago.

"My mom was so excited," said Rivera. "She's like, "You're going to have so much fun there. You are so pretty. I am so proud of you." My dad, he said, "I'm going to pray for you.'"

Rivera's grandmother and friends from church didn't get it, either. "I was going to church every Sunday," Rivera said, "but now, football season, can't go."

Rivera has been working since age 13. She once worked at a Taco Bell/KFC. Her friends, many from upper-middle class homes, didn't understand that, either.

"They were like, "Oh my God." It just seemed [to them] such a lowly thing to do. But it was a job."

Hey, it's an honest job. And she doesn't look too bad either, if you go for the dark haired, dark eyed, slender-but-busty type.

It’s odd that the mother is in such ecstasies over her daughter’s getting a waitress job. Was she living at home, rent-free and unemployed, before this?

This article and another said that she had worked at a variet of entry level jobs at Taco Bell, KFC, Outback Steakhouse, etc. I guess this one just has better tips.

God takes backseat to a lot of jobs. My wife is a pharmacist and has worked at a hospital for the past 25 years. In those 25 years she has had to work every other weekend and just miss church.

Well, I’m all for young adults’ getting jobs. My daughter is in the Coast Guard. No tips, but she gets to shoot artillery sometimes.

Rivera is 20 years old and pursuing a degree in marketing from Metropolitan State College of Denver. She had to find a way to pay for her schooling, and the Hooters on Colorado Boulevard in Denver is what she found.

Waaaay too many college brats have that "they owe me" attitude & wouldn't be seen dead in a service industry job. I say good for her. And this comes from someone who won't go to Hooters on a dare (I hate the place).

When my boys were still small (6, 8, and 10), we used to go to a Hooters in the summer in Nashville because it had a boardwalk over the river. The Hooters girls used to bring out stale french fries and the boys LOVED feeding them to the turtles in the river. If they noticed the girls, I never caught them staring. They sure notice them now.

If she works hard and honest, at a legal business, gets along with her coworkers and the customers, and is comfortable with the working conditions and atmosphere, I don't see that it's anybody else's business. I don't see any problem whatsoever.

And BTW, definitely NOT GUILTY, assuming the "busty" is natural. If I wanted to play with plastic boobies I'd go to the porn store downtown and buy some. I don't. And I'm fine with small/medium too, and besides they age better, which is a consideration at my stage of life. The dark hair / dark eyes / slender is just perfect IMO. And she's got a great smile.

Good for her. I hope the job works out well.
