  • Anne Frank's family tried to escape to US say researchers

    07/06/2018 4:32:07 AM PDT · by markomalley · 43 replies
The family of Anne Frank, the world famous Jewish diarist who died in the Holocaust, attempted to immigrate to the United States and later also to Cuba, according to research, but their efforts were thwarted by America's restrictive immigration policy and the outbreak of the Second World War. The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam and the US Holocaust Memorial Museum said on Friday that documents indicate Anne's father Otto tried twice to collect the papers needed to obtain visas for the United States. He later also appears to have applied for a visa to Cuba. However, the Frank family's escape...

Princess Alice von Battenberg was born in 1885 in Windsor Castle in England, and was deaf from birth. After marrying the Greek Prince Andrew in 1903, she lived in Greece until the expulsion of the Greek royal family in 1917. In 1930, Alice was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was hospitalized in a sanatorium in Switzerland for two years. During World War II she lived in Athens, where she helped hide Jews from the Nazis. In 1994, 24 years after her death in 1969, she received the title of Righteous Among the Nations from Yad Vashem. After the war, she remained...

Poland has amended its controversial Holocaust law that made it a crime punishable by up to three years in jail to say “Polish concentration camps,” four months after the law went into effect. Polish lawmakers voted on Wednesday by a vote of 388-25, with five abstentions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he is pleased that Poland “fully rescinded” clauses in its Holocaust law. “I’m pleased that the Polish government, the parliament, the senate and the president of Poland decided today to fully rescind the clauses that were signed and caused a storm and consternation in Israel and among the international...

Prince William arrived in Jordan on Sunday on the first stop of a five-day Middle East tour that will make him the first British royal to pay an official visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories. The Duke of Cambridge was greeted by Crown Prince Hussein, the son of Jordan's King Abdullah II, at the airport in Jordan's capital, Amman. The Jordanian prince then drove William to a technology-focused event for young people linked to the Crown Prince Foundation. Kensington Palace tweeted that Prince William was "looking forward to building a real and enduring relationship with the people of the...

My daughter is an avid history buff and has, over the past few years, done quite a bit of reading on the Nazi concentration camps. I would love to take her to some of these sites some day, but for now all I can do is get some first-hand pics of someone else's visit. If anyone has been to any of the concentration camp memorial sites and has pics they could share it would be greatly appreciated.

I am a Holocaust concentration camp survivor. I am one of a rapidly dwindling number of eyewitnesses to the Nazi Holocaust, the most systematic genocide of all time. Today, misinformed students cynically led by progressives are using that event and its rallying call to confiscate guns and turn them over to government—the exact opposite of the core lessons to be learned. This is so fundamentally wrong no justification can excuse it. Naming a book Never Again!—which is a desperate call to arms—to address drug-addled, video-mesmerized, psychotic, murderous classmates —misappropriates and reverses the central messages and lessons of the Holocaust.

'Hitler and the Nazis are just a speck of bird poop in more than 1,000 years of successful German history,' says Alexander Gauland, drawing criticism from secretary general of Merkel's party: '50 million victims of war, the Holocaust and total war are just bird poop' for Gauland and his party.
  • Who betrayed Anne Frank? Book claims to shed new light {Nazis alerted by Jewish collaborator}

A new book has provided what it claims is fresh evidence that Anne Frank and her family were betrayed by a Jewish woman who was executed after the second world war for collaborating with Nazis. The mystery of how the Franks were found in a secret annex in a building on Amsterdam’s Prinsengracht in August 1944 has thwarted formal investigations and troubled academics ever since. The involvement of Ans van Dijk, who was executed in 1948 after admitting to collaborating in the capture of 145 people, including her own brother and his family, had been previously claimed. But, the Anne...

Saviors of the Jewish people appear from time to time. Purim is a holiday celebrating the saving of Jews from annihilation in the Persian Empire. The villain Haman, the royal vizier, wanted to destroy all the Jews in the empire but was foiled by Queen Esther, aided by her cousin Mordechai, who refused to bow or show reverence to Haman. The two persuaded King Ahasuerus to save their Jewish people from genocide. The king was a savior: he granted Esther's petition, the Jews were saved, and the evil Haman was hanged. Some 2,500 years later, another powerful leader of a...

As Philip Klein points out, it’s a good thing that this “history lesson” comes from the Left’s favorite Palestinian moderate. Lord knows how this would have unfolded with a less rational personage than Mahmoud “Abu Mazen” Abbas. The Palestinian leader opened the first Palestinian National Council in 22 years yesterday, hoping to firm up his credibility enough to establish his preferred line of succession as well as unite Palestinians under his leadership. And what better way to accomplish this than some unadulterated and absolutely bat-s*** crazy anti-Semitic conspiracy theories? In a long and rambling at speech in Ramallah at...

D.C. City Councilman Trayon White Sr. (D.) donated to an event in Chicago where National of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan again denounced Jews. White donated $500 from his constituent services account to the Chicago event known as "Saviours’ Day," the Washington Post reports. Campaign finance law dictates that the constituent services account's privately-raised funds must be used on D.C. residents. White denied knowing about the payment. However, the account's treasurer, Darryl Ross, said otherwise. "He said to me, ‘I want you to make a payment to the Nation of Islam for Saviours’ Day,’" Ross told the Post. "So I went...

Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. The D.C. council member’s visit to Washington’s Holocaust Museum was meant to be a “conciliatory” gesture to help repair relations after he sparked outrage for saying Jews control the weather. But Trayon White only compounded his problems when he defended Nazis during a guided tour of the museum Wednesday and then left early. D.C. Council member Trayon White White was at the museum viewing a 1935 photograph of a woman surrounded by Nazi soldiers with a sign hanging from her neck that read: “I am a German girl and allowed myself to be defiled by...

The photo, taken in 1935, depicts a woman in a dark dress shuffling down a street in Norden, Germany. A large sign hangs from her neck: “I am a German girl and allowed myself to be defiled by a Jew.” She is surrounded by Nazi stormtroopers. D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr. (D-Ward 8) studied the image. “Are they protecting her?” Lynn Williams, an expert on educational programs at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and White’s tour guide for the day, stared at the photo. “No,” she said. “They’re marching her through.” “Marching through is protecting,” White said. “I think...

Bullying in German schools in Berlin’s heavily migrant populated areas has increased drastically with pupils claiming that they are threatened and beaten simply because they are German, and not Muslim. Teachers in schools across Berlin are voicing concern over bullying from migrant-background Muslim children towards German children who can find themselves in a minority. According to one 7th grader in Berlin’s Schöneberg district, many Muslim migrant-background children bully and beat him simply for being German, Tagesspiegel reports.

Thursday, April 12, 2018 The Betrayal of the Holocaust Posted by Daniel Greenfield When we talk about the Holocaust, we are talking about the mass murder of millions of Jews. The dead included my grandparents and countless others, shot, starved, gassed, beaten to death and buried in mass graves. And yet the lessons of the Holocaust in its commemorations rarely have anything to do with Jewish lives.  Millions of dollars have been spent building memorials to the victims of the Holocaust, even as Iran is spending its millions on building another kind of memorial to the Holocaust, in the form...

On Holocaust Remembrance Day it was announced that the proceeds of the diary of Anne Frank will be donated to an American-based organization that sends Arab youths to spit on Israeli soldiers and curse their mothers and films them if they display a twinge of resentment. Yes, it's true. Read Edwin Black's Financing the Flames. That book was loaned to me yesterday by a neighbor down the street in Maale Adumim (across the Green Line, technically a settlement, it was founded on a rainy night in '75 by a few families who faced eviction, though now it has grown big...

Amidst division among his fellow Democrats over his campaign to see President Donald Trump impeached, billionaire left-wing environmentalist Tom Steyer held a rally attended by approximately 400 anti-Trump activists in Oakland Wednesday night to help garner support for his impeachment efforts. According to the East Bay Times, Steyer said Trump “is a malignant narcissist who’s deteriorating” while speaking alongside Amy Siskind, an anti-Trump Wall Street executive-turned-blogger, at the Impact Hub, a community center in uptown Oakland. “Today is the best day of the rest of the Trump administration,” Steyer said. Siskind, who is a liberal self-described “Jewish, gay woman,” used...

More than one-fifth of millennials in the U.S. -- 22 percent -- haven't heard of, or aren't sure if they've heard of, the Holocaust, according to a study published Thursday, on Israel's Holocaust Remembrance Day. The study, which was commissioned by The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany and conducted by Schoen Consulting, also found that 11 percent of U.S. adults overall haven't heard of the Holocaust or aren't sure if they did. Additionally, 41 percent of millennials believe two million Jews or fewer were killed during the Holocaust, the study found. Six million Jews were killed in World...

A British organization has launched an ambitious project aimed at restoring old, abandoned synagogues across Europe and bringing them back to community life, and commemorating communities that were wiped out in the Holocaust. The Foundation of Jewish Heritage has identified 3,300 pre-Second World War buildings used for Jewish prayer, of which at least 19 could be brought back into use - out of an estimated total of 17,000 that were in use before the Second World War. The remaining buildings, of which just 718 are still being used as synagogues, have been carefully catalogued based on their artistic, urban, and...
