  • Tebow runs for a score, Eagles beat Colts 36-10

Tebow got a standing ovation when he entered midway through the third quarter and the crowd roared so loud when his name was introduced he had to quiet them down because he was taking the snap in a shotgun. Tebow threw for 69 yards and ran for a touchdown in his first game in two years.
  • Matt Barkley, Tim Tebow due to play most in Eagles' preseason opener (Sunday Aug 16)

MARK SANCHEZ will get the start tomorrow in the preseason opener against the Colts, but Eagles coach Chip Kelly cautioned that Sanchez probably will take only a handful of snaps. The bulk of the quarterbacking will be done by Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow, who would seem to be fighting for a single roster spot as the Eagles' third QB. "I want to see what happens with those guys," Kelly said.

Fighting hard to resurrect his NFL career, the Christian quarterback... Without explanation or elaboration, a sports writer for the CBS affiliate in the City of Brotherly Love called Tim Tebow “the most polarizing Philadelphia Eagle” in an article that goes on to share the surprising opinion of one of Tebow’s teammates who claims the quarterback’s play will “shock a lot of people.” Of course, one can imagine what writer Andrew Porter may have had in mind when offering that “most polarizing comment” about Tebow — the NFL player’s proudly promoted Christianity as well as the trepidation of a lot of...

PHILADELPHIA >> There is one period each and every day of Eagles minicamp in which Tim Tebow leaves the other quarterbacks in his dust. It’s the zone-read drill. And you really don’t want to get in the way of the 6-2, 250-pound Tebow because he runs like it is “game on.” Tebow’s critics enjoy maligning his throwing mechanics, which still require extensive tweaking. They’ve totally missed the dimension he brought to the Denver Broncos, the skill that enabled him to register fourth-quarter comeback after fourth-quarter comeback and ultimately win a playoff game. Don’t underestimate the power of the mobile dimension...

[...] Early reports on Tebow out of the Eagles' OTAs have been overwhelmingly positive. Tebow is throwing the ball better than expected, and he attributes his improvement to his offseason work with House. Tebow said the pair worked “from the ground up,” focusing on “balance, posture, sequencing, timing," per John Gonzalez of CSN Philly. [...] Reporters at practice are not the only ones who have noticed the improvements that Tebow has made throwing the football. Kelly is excited with what he has seen so far. “Watch him throw,” Kelly said, per CSN Philly. “I think he’s improved. He spent a...

[...] "He is actually getting better every day," offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said on Wednesday. "He works extremely hard. He is getting comfortable in what we do. He is having more good plays than bad plays out here. He is doing a very good job." [...] Now with the Eagles, and after spending two years working on his throwing motion, quarterbacks coach Ryan Day said he can see the hard work Tebow put in paying off. "He is working hard out here just like everyone out. He has some good throws, some throws he wants to get back," Day said....

[...] He looks improved Tebow was not in the NFL the past two seasons because of two things — his accuracy and his throwing motion. The two are tied together, and through two practices, Tebow looks to have improved from the last time he played in the NFL with the New England Patriots two years ago. Breaking down the mechanics of Tebow's throwing motion is a job for a quarterback's coach, not a beat reporter, but to the naked eye, nothing stands out about Tebow's throwing motion. He gets the ball out as quickly as the three other quarterbacks on...

Eagles Pro Bowl center Jason Kelce was just on the 94WIP Morning Show and he told Angelo Cataldi he made some comments about the Eagles quarterbacks. On Sam Bradford – “I’ve worked with Sam out there on the field. He’s still limited in what he can do, but he looks great with what he does.” “Sam can throw the football very well down the field.” On Tim Tebow – “Tebow has looked pretty good in OTA’s especially with the read option plays. It’s hard to know what Chip is going to do at quarterback because each of them does their...
  • New Extra Point Rule Puts Philadelphia Eagles and Tim Tebow Ahead of the Curve

In less than two months, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly might have gone from dunce to genius for signing Tim Tebow. The quarterback nobody wanted the last two years could be the very specialist the Eagles need to beat the NFL’s new extra-point rule. For the grand Kelly scheme to work, though, Tebow would have to be activated on game day not as the third quarterback—who can only be used if one of the first two go down—but as a special teams performer. Given Tebow’s size and reputation as a football player over a quarterback, that seems reasonable enough....

Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez said he wasn't concerned that the team signed Tim Tebow, because the Eagles told him Tebow was just there to throw in camp. "We needed another guy to throw while Sam's (Bradford) still recovering. So that's the reason (for the signing), at least as explained to me," Sanchez said, per CSN Philadelphia. The Eagles signed Tebow on Monday. He hasn't played in the NFL since getting cut by the Patriots at the end of training camp prior to the 2013 season. He spent last year as a television analyst for the SEC Network

According to Jay Feely, Tim Tebow is a great man and a great competitor, but Feely still believes Tebow is the “worst quarterback” ever. But do Tebow’s stats agree with that assessment? In a related report by the Inquisitr, in the past some have claimed that Tebow was “blackballed” from the NFL due to Christian beliefs, not NFL stats. At the same time, Joe Theismann insists Tim “can’t throw the football” and referee Jim Daopoulus once used Tebow as an example of the uncatchable rule. Rush Limbaugh might agree that more men like Tebow are needed in the NFL, but...

[...] If Belichick, the best coach in the NFL over the past 15 years, doesn't see an NFL quarterback in Tebow, then that would seem to settle the issue. Except that Kelly, who worked Tebow out last month, sees the skills and the physical presence and he can't help himself. It's not just about ego. There's a challenge in finding ways to utilize a player's talents, and Kelly enjoys that challenge. [...] The point is, Bradford is the presumed starter with Sanchez as the very capable No. 2 quarterback. But if Tebow is able to click in Kelly's offense --...

Now that the Philadelphia Eagles have signed a 4th quarterback -- Tim Tebow -- and talk is being bandied about re: Tebow's potential "role player" status...perhaps a review is in order to ponder a potential paradigm shift that the NFL is perhaps beyond the need to acknowledge. And for that, we need a quick review of another professional sport: Major League Baseball...and specifically the history of pitching: 1901-1968: For the first 68 years of the 20th century, Major League Baseball didn't even track "saves" by relief pitchers. Yankees pitcher Waite Hoyt was retroactively credited with "eight" saves in 1928. But...

He’s baaaaaaaaaack. At least, for some offseason workouts, and — who knows? — possibly much more. Tim Tebow, the decorated Florida quarterback whose first stint in the NFL was as brief as it was closely scrutinized, has reached an agreement to join the Eagles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Philadelphia Coach Chip Kelly has spoken highly of Tebow in the past, and apparently he saw enough of the quarterback during a March workout to add him to a depth chart that currently includes Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley and G.J. Kinne. The Eagles had reportedly been trying to trade...

The roster move the Eagles are expected to make Monday shot straight to the top of the publicity charts. A lot of people might have been Tebowing that it was not true, but it is. The Eagles are adding a Heisman Trophy winner to their crowded quarterback depth chart. Oregon's Marcus Mariota remains a long shot to be in Eagles green after the NFL draft. Tim Tebow, on the other hand, will be on the practice fields at the NovaCare Complex after he signs a one-year deal with the team Monday. He'll be one of five quarterbacks on the roster,...

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed Tim Tebow to a one-year deal. The 27-year-old quarterback joins three other signal callers, Sam Bradford, Matt Barkley, and Mark Sanchez, likely competing for three roster spots. The line behind center in Philadelphia may be long. But it’s not terribly accomplished, allowing Tebow a solid chance to make the team and, unlike his try in New England, to enjoy an opportunity on the field should injuries or ineptitude result from Bradford or Sanchez starting. Bradford, the top man on the depth chart, endured injuries and struggled to live up to his potential in St. Louis...

The Eagles have reached an agreement in principle with quarterback Tim Tebow, according to multiple media reports Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, who first reported the news, said that Tebow will be in Philadelphia Monday to sign the contract. Glazer also reported that the Eagles are convinced he has improved since the last time he was in the NFL after spending time with his quarterback coach Tom House.

Let's get this out of the way first: If Tim Tebow's workout-gone-viral had been a revelation to the Eagles on Monday, he'd likely now be arranging logistics to spend the spring in Philadelphia. Tebow remains, more than anything else, a curiosity in NFL circles. According to one team official in Philly, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner did "fine." Sometimes, these tire-kickings are favors to players, to get them back on the radar. And this one, at the very least, did that for Tebow. So ... what next?
