Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has headed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984, has played a major role in promoting and funding gain-of-function research, both in the US and China. Newsweek reported: “He argued that the research was worth the risk it entailed because it enables scientists to make preparations that could be useful if and when a pandemic occurred.” Those claims are belied by the empirical evidence GoF experiments have neither prevented a pandemic, nor provided useful information about safe and effective pandemic countermeasures. Numerous prominent scientists argue that these experiments deviate from morally justifiable...
  • Asymptomatic Coronavirus Patients Can Still Develop Lung Damage

I quickly learned that many patients with advanced COVID-19 disease bore none of the hallmarks of severe respiratory illness until they suddenly collapsed and died. ... [A] study from Wuhan, China, describes pathological lung changes on CT scans of completely asymptomatic patients. Asymptomatic carriage is not uncommon in other virulent infections, such as MRSA and C diff, but what is striking with SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) is that it may be accompanied by underlying organ damage. The researchers found lesions consistent with inflammation of the underlying lung tissue (ground-glass opacities and consolidation, to use the medical jargon), which...
  • The Media's about-face on Hydroxychloroquine: Surprising? Not to those who have been able to see through the cloud of hysterical, anti-Trump bias and look at the facts.

When President Trump dared to suggest the decades-old malaria drug hydroxychloroquine may help patients with the coronavirus, he was accused by reporters and commentators of dangerously "playing doctor" and engaging in "happy talk" about the disease. "A Mad Scramble to Stock Millions of Malaria Pills, Likely for Nothing," The New York Times fretted. "The Food and Drug Administration's abrupt decision this week to revoke an emergency waiver for two malaria drugs promoted by President Trump as potential 'game changers' against the coronavirus has left 66 million doses stranded in the federal stockpile - and officials do not yet know what...

It’s just the flu, bro. The cases of death with CV (not from CV) are going up in some states and going down in other states. Seems like states like Texas may see a few weeks of elevated deaths while the overall USA daily death count might level off too. You test enough people you will eventually be able show CV death increases. The media pounced on the increase in cases and they will find a way to pounce on any negative death news, wherever it is. - Sounds like there is pressure from all sides to have kids return...

Research was omitted from landmark paper claiming natural origin of SARS-CoV-2. Report: Claire Robinson Chinese and US scientists have been collaborating for years in dangerous gain-of-function experiments that involve genetically engineering coronaviruses from bats and other animals, as revealed by a series of scientific publications. The coronaviruses are related to the SARS viruses that cause severe respiratory diseases in humans. The scientists were based at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China, the lab suspected by some of accidentally releasing the SARS-CoV-2 virus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic, and at the University of North Carolina (UNC) in the US....
  • Study Reveals That Easily Offended People Are Less Productive, Bad Employees

A study conducted by a Professor at San Diego State University has discovered that people who are easily offended make terrible employees because they never get anything done. The study, conducted by Dr. Jeremy Berneth, involved asking almost 400 employees, aged 25.9 on average, across seven US colleges about different events that have recently gotten “substantial media attention”. The study notes that the events consisted of “17 items developed to assess the proclivity to be offended, eight moral outrage items, 11 microagression items and nine political correctness items.” It noted that some people have a high “proclivity to be offended”...
  • Joe Biden is bringing back the front-porch campaign. It might work. (probably not)

Republicans keep hoping and expecting that former vice president Joe Biden will have to leave his basement and hit the campaign trail sometime soon. Don’t be surprised, though, if that doesn’t happen. Biden looks to be trying to run a 21st-century version of the standard 19th-century “front porch campaign” - and it might work. Presidential candidates rarely actively campaigned in the 19th century. The lack of a national railroad system made travel too arduous for candidates before 1850. Even after that, it took days for trains to travel between major cities, and the lack of any means of mass communication...

WR Phillip Blanks dives to catch a 3-year old boy dropped from a burning, 3rd floor Phoenix apartment. I just spoke to the former Marine who says he was “put on this earth to protect people.” KALAMAZOO — Catching a child who was dropped from a burning building was just Phillip Blanks doing his job. The retired U.S. Marine and former football player at Kalamazoo Central High School doesn’t want special recognition for helping save a 3-year-old boy from an apartment fire in Phoenix, Arizona. Blanks, a body guard today, said protecting others is just part of his job. Blanks...

Abstract Currently, drug repurposing is an alternative to novel drug development for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The antimalarial drug chloroquine (CQ) and its metabolite hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) are currently being tested in several clinical studies as potential candidates to limit SARS-CoV-2-mediated morbidity and mortality. CQ and HCQ (CQ/HCQ) inhibit pH-dependent steps of SARS-CoV-2 replication by increasing pH in intracellular vesicles and interfere with virus particle delivery into host cells. Besides direct antiviral effects, CQ/HCQ specifically target extracellular zinc to intracellular lysosomes where it interferes with RNA-dependent RNA polymerase activity and coronavirus replication. As zinc deficiency frequently occurs in elderly patients...

My July 2nd interview with Dr. Richard Bartlett of Midland, Texas (you can watch it here) has drawn interest from around the country. There is obviously great interest in effective treatments for those suffering with Covid-19, and in Dr. Bartlett’s explanation of his approach. I have not been able to keep up with viewers’ requests for a copy of the medical paper he referenced in the interview. So with his permission, I am sharing in this post two items: (1) Dr. Bartlett’s letter to Texas State Senator Bob Hall explaining in more layman-like language what the treatment is all about;...

I have a pair of high end Costco hearing aids. Only wear them when I play cards, is that 4 spades or 4 aces, or go out to eat with friends. So last Friday we go out to our usual restaurant but as we started in they said that we needed masks till we sit down to eat and drink. Back to the car and don a mask. I sat down and started to speak to one of our friends and then remembered the mask. I grab it and pull it off and quickly realize that one of my hearing...

The Hawker 700, which Mexican authorities said they traced from Venezuela, came crashing down with its illicit cargo on a state highway Sunday morning in Quintana Roo in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexican News Daily reported. Video of the burning wreckage posted on Twitter by Alberto Capella, the province’s security minister, shows smoke billowing from the downed aircraft on the empty highway. The crew fled...

Does anyone have any real information on what the real numbers are for COVID-19 cases and deaths? On the one hand, I have read that the number of cases is inflated by “probable“ cases. For example, you become infected and your wife and three children are suddenly considered “probable” and thrown into the count. Is that true?On the other hand, I have also read that the number of deaths is exaggerated because many, although infected, die of other causes and yet are counted in the total Is that true? Please chime in. Thanks.

Its just the flu, bro. Weekday deaths hit a record low yesterday. Apparently the percentage of all cause deaths attributable to an infectious disease determines if something is an epidemic and if that percentage is too low then it is not an epidemic anymore. Apparently the CV deaths are too low for it to continue to count as an epidemic, according to the CDC's own standard. It would be fantastic if Trump declared that the epidemic is over. Only concern that I think they have is that these high cases we currently have will lead to a bump in fake...

China's Sinovac Biotech is starting Phase III trials of its potential coronavirus vaccine in Brazil, it said on Monday, becoming one of three companies to move into the late stages in the race to develop an inoculation against the disease. It follows a fast-track approval for the trials by Brazilian regulators last week. Sinovac said the study, which will be done in partnership with Brazilian vaccine producer the Instituto Butantan, would recruit nearly 9,000 healthcare professionals working in COVID-19 specialised facilities and start this month. AstraZeneca's experimental COVID-19 vaccine, developed by researchers at the University of Oxford, and China National...

Sweden's controversial decision not to lock down during COVID-19 produced more deaths and greater healthcare demand than seen in countries with earlier, more stringent interventions, a new analysis finds. But Sweden fared better than would be expected from its public-health mandates alone, roughly similar to France, Italy and Spain—countries that had more stringent measures but adopted them after the pandemic took hold there. Sweden's unusual approach also saw fewer patients admitted to intensive-care units than expected. But the country has seen a higher percentage of deaths in older patients outside ICUs than other countries when ICU beds were not limited....
