A man’s home is his castle, or so the saying goes. And people should be able to protect their homes - including our most precious asset, our families - against intruders without fear of a lawsuit. Some Nevada politicians are trying to change that. They think that you should be financially liable for any injuries they sustain when you defend yourself -- even in your home. Does that sound convoluted? It is. And, it’s ridiculous. If someone is invading your home, the last thing you should be thinking about is being sued if you use force to defend yourself or...

Legislators and advocates charged Friday that Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is specifically targeting gun owners for a fee increase that they said is not justified by an increased workload. Rep. Rob Sampson, a Wolcott Republican, said the proposal represents an unreasonable jump from the current $70 to $300 for a five-year permit renewal and $370 for an initial permit for first-time gun owners, up from the current $140. "I just don't understand why he would single out this particular group and increase it by an exorbitant amount," Sampson said of the Democratic governor.

Trump’s nomination of federal judge Neil Gorsuch to the US Supreme Court has been greeted with much glee by conservatives and a well-anticipated gnashing of teeth by the progressive Left. Naturally, those of us in the gun community have our own particularized questions about what a Justice Gorsuch might mean for the Second Amendment. Let’s take a look, shall we? A look at Judge Gorsuch’s generalized judicial philosophy is certainly encouraging. Given that it was Scalia who led the pro–Second Amendment decisions in District of Columbia v. Heller and MacDonald v. Chicago, and that Gorsuch has been described not...

After $30m in campaign ad buys and months of unflinching support for Donald Trump, the National Rifle Association has what it wanted: a supreme court nominee it views as a strong defender of gun rights. The federal court judge Neil Gorsuch “will protect our right to keep and bear arms”, the gun rights group said on Tuesday night, in a swift endorsement of Trump’s supreme court pick. Gun control advocates say that some of Gorsuch’s previous cases suggest he might support laws that “make it easier for felons to own guns”. Unlike Thomas Hardiman, another federal judge who was also...

You’re at a traffic stop. The officer asks to see your license and registration, and, like a responsible concealed handgun permit holder, you offer your CHL along with your driver’s license. Immediately upon seeing your handgun license, the officer forces you from your vehicle, frisks you, and removes your handgun from its holster. Despite this clear violation of your Fourth Amendment rights, you keep your cool. Neither before, during, nor after the incident have you acted strangely, suspiciously, or aggressively. When you ask why you’re being treated this way, the officer responds, “I had reason to believe you had a...

In addition to pushing a pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment agenda From an originalist view of the United States Constitution, every federal gun law is unconstitutional. If there needs to be protections like background checks and laws asserting any regulations, that must happen at the State level. That is not to say the States have the authority to betray our right to keep and bear arms. Our right to our guns is an inherent right, a natural right that belongs to us no matter what. However, we must also remember that regarding our rights, while it is a no-no for the federal...

In what will hopefully be one of the final acts of the Obama Administration on firearms, the ATF on Monday announced that its proposed changes to the Form 4473 would go into effect on January 16, 2017, just four days before the inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump. Form 4473 is the federally mandated form that must be filled out by any person who acquires a firearm from a licensed dealer.... Another notable change to the form is the inclusion of a bolded warning to potential transferees from ATF. The warning provides that “the use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful...

Dawn Dolpp isn’t a slave to fashion, preferring function over form. Which is why she used to secure her handgun in her purse with a Velcro strip as recently as 10 years ago. Today, Mrs. Dolpp and other gun-toting women like her don’t have to resort to homemade craft projects to provide themselves with holsters and other accessories for their firearms: Gun-related companies are doing it for them. “One thing the gun and accessory companies are finally understanding is that one size doesn’t fit all,” says Mrs. Dolpp, the leader of the Virginia chapter of The Well Armed Woman. Gun...

It’s now law. In Missouri, you no longer need a license to carry a firearm in public. They’re the 12th state to adopt such a law known as constitutional carry; Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) represents a state with such a law. To those who love freedom and the Second Amendment, it’s a great day for the expansion of constitutional rights. For anti-gun liberals, it’s a day for hysterics, which wasperfectly captured by the editorial board of The New York Times: The measure has drawn no great national attention, but it certainly provides further evidence that gun safety cannot be...

August 12, 2016 Waller County Judge posted the following on Facebook in the group called “Waller County News. Trey Duhon – This underlines my point.. Micah Johnson… The guy that threatened put a bullet in Elton Mathis’ head to solve the guns in the courthouse… Listen to what I say next VERY carefully… It’s not the BLM or Texas Carry group that is the issue… It’s the rhetoric that they employ to deliver a message that can affect some people (those who might not be stable or law-abiding) and inflame them to take action into their own hands. Case in...

Obama Administration is looking to declare gunsmiths as Firearms "manufacturers" and place them under ITARS licensing requirements. The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) has reviewed and consolidated policy guidance about whether various activities related to firearms constitute manufacturing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120-130) purposes and require registration with DDTC and payment of a registration fee. DDTC has found that many – but not all - traditional gunsmithing activities do not constitute manufacturing for ITAR purposes and, therefore, do not require registration with DDTC.

Lawful gun owners commit less than a fifth of all gun crimes, according to a novel analysis released this week by the University of Pittsburgh. In the study, led by epidemiologist Anthony Fabio of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health, researchers partnered with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to trace the origins of all 893 firearms that police recovered from crime scenes in the year 2008.They found that in approximately 8 out of 10 cases, the perpetrator was not a lawful gun owner but rather in illegal possession of a weapon that belonged to someone else. The researchers were...

While congressional Democrats and Republicans go head-to-head over gun control, proponents of a smaller, often overlooked facet of the Second Amendment’s right to keep and bear arms pursue a battle of their own—the right to carry a knife. Knife Rights, an Arizona-based advocacy group aimed at ridding states of existing bans on specific types of knives, is leading the fight against restrictive knife laws across the U.S. “Protecting knife rights is the second front in the defense of the Second Amendment,” Todd Rathner, director of legislative affairs at Knife Rights, told The Daily Signal.

Leftists promised rage at the 2016 Republican National Convention and failed to deliver. The anarchists and Black Lives Matter radicals tried their hardest and simply couldn’t get anyone to show up to participate in their efforts to attack Republicans and treat police officers badly. The attempt to turn the 2016 convention into a warzone–as their movement had done at the 2008 convention–simply failed. The Cleveland anarchists and radical leftists failed and simply sucked at organizing. This year’s fireworks from the “revolutionaries” proved their movement to be even more impotent than did their failures in 2012 at the Tampa convention. .......

During their live coverage of the July 7 attack on police in Dallas by Micah Xavier Johnson, CNN, in their infinite wisdom, decided to discuss the scary open carry law that just went into effect this year, as if to suggest this has something to do with a crazy person–Johnson–who wanted to kill white police officers. It doesn’t. Nevertheless, lawyer Areva Martin and New York Times columnist Charles Blow decided to talk about gun control, which host Don Lemon blessedly cut off, saying that’s a subject for another day (via Newsbusters): Of Course: CNN’s Blow, Martin Rush to Blame Guns,...
