Dawn Dolpp isnt a slave to fashion, preferring function over form. Which is why she used to secure her handgun in her purse with a Velcro strip as recently as 10 years ago.
Today, Mrs. Dolpp and other gun-toting women like her dont have to resort to homemade craft projects to provide themselves with holsters and other accessories for their firearms: Gun-related companies are doing it for them.
One thing the gun and accessory companies are finally understanding is that one size doesnt fit all, says Mrs. Dolpp, the leader of the Virginia chapter of The Well Armed Woman.
Gun ownership in the U.S. has reached a high point, with 47 percent of Americans reporting that they own a firearm, according to a 2011 Gallup poll. Of those gun owners who reported owning a firearm, 43 percent were women an all-time high.
An increased demand for woman-friendly gun products has prompted manufacturers to make firearms with adjustable grips for smaller hands, a wide range of holsters that better fit womens bodies and various styles of concealed carry purses.
And while some ladies who pack heat like the glitz and glam of pink rhinestone holsters, the industry has grown to offer a variety of accessories for women with fashion and function in mind.
The Well Armed Woman is a gun accessory retailer and national organization with more than 10,000 members and 310 chapters in 49 states. Mrs. Dolpp oversees five chapters throughout Virginia, each of which boasts 25 to 150 members.

Nice way to make a statement. :)
Would have been nice to see some pictures of the fashions.
For later.
Here's a link to The Well Armed Woman.
I have the same problem with a kilt.
Meh, did you ever try to hide a gun in a puffy shirt?
I just bet.
I am thinking of going to a leather maker and seeing if I can have one custom made. It will be expensive but maybe I can recoup some of the costs by selling the design to some company.
A lady in my Bible class had bought a purse while she was in Texas that had a diagonal zipper on the outside. Gun compartment!
They offer high quality at a reasonable price; Often they can be found at TJ Maxx, etc. for under $20.
They have many styles [crossbody my favorite]; many color options. It looks as if when it gets dirty you can throw in the washer.
These bags are not make for specifically for CC ....I'm sure corporate would cringe to think their product is great for CC. Heh.
“I have the same problem with a kilt.”
Yeah, you wouldn’t want to reach up there in a rush and try to draw the wrong weapon.
Aye, is that a buntline up your kilt or are ye just glad to see me?
My last carry purse was a army surplus biohazard bag ...it was only $8 at an army surplus store. The large flap made entry easy-breezy ... no zipper; strap was so generous it can crossbody easily.
