A judge ruled in favor of a Derry firearms dealer and the New Hampshire Department of Safety on Monday after two Manchester police officers sued when they were shot in the line of duty. The lawsuit alleged that the man who shot those officers back in 2016 should have never been sold a gun in the first place. Ian MacPherson has since admitted to the shooting and been sentenced to a secure psychiatric unit. The judge's order said Chester Arms did the required background check and the sale was delayed to look into a domestic violence charge, but that charge...

At least one of the group of intruders received some ballistic dissuasion when they entered the store. Thanks to the shop’s camera system, store management and cops have nice quality video of the incident, along with an image of the license plate of the getaway ride. The car’s driver dropped his bleeding buddy at the local hospital’s ER entrance before speeding back to Peoria. The guy they’d left at the hospital is now in the morgue. Meanwhile, cops found the driver/car owner not long after. It wasn’t exactly tough detective work since the (alleged) perp used his own car. Perhaps...

In 1968 Congress passed the infamous Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968. The act banned the sale of guns through the mail except to federally licensed dealers. One purpose of the act was to weaken and defund the National Rifle Association. A great deal of advertisement funding for the NRA magazine, The American Rifleman, came from ads for the mail order of firearms. The mail order of pistols had been regulated since 1927. GCA 1968 banned mail order of rifles and shotguns, guns that were used in only a small percentage of crimes, and created a whole new class of...

SEATTLE -- There are more questions than answers in the case of a suspected international arms dealer caught in Washington state with a stockpile of sniper rifles. Oliver King is an Iranian citizen who, in the past, has been a licensed gun dealer. King appeared in court in Seattle on Wednesday, accused of keeping a stash of guns and ammunition hidden in a storage unit near the U.S.-Canada border. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, King lied to enter the U.S. near Blaine last week. Agents with U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement became suspicious of King when he showed up...

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A gun dealer should not face a misdemeanor charge for selling a firearm to an undercover law enforcement officer who indicated it was for an underage person who didn't have a license, the Michigan Supreme Court said in a decision released Wednesday. The court ruled that longtime Detroit gun dealer General Laney didn't violate federal or state statutes that allow licensed 18-year-olds to buy or receive a pistol from a private party, but prohibits them from purchasing a gun from a federally licensed gun dealer. In April 1999, two Wayne County sheriff's deputies — Walter Epps...
