On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Dutch absurdist comedian Hans Teeuwen uploaded a video mocking Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema. On the table to Teeuwen’s right was an object looking somewhat similar to a pistol. The item may have been included as a jab at the past trouble the Mayor found herself in. Her teenage son was arrested with a deactivated revolver owned by her husband and said to be used as a prop in movie sets.Three...

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) pointed to Missouri gun laws and blasted the state’s annual gun deaths but failed to mention that California has more than twice as many gun deaths each year. On November 16, 2023, this author wrote a piece highlighting the left’s tendency to point to firearm-related homicide deaths instead of actual homicide numbers. This allows someone like Newsom to avoid mentioning Centers for Disease Control and Prevention numbers showing California had 3,576 firearm deaths in 2021 while Missouri only had 1,414.

Democrats in New Mexico’s House of Representatives are weighing an “assault weapons” ban and two-week waiting period on gun purchases, along with other requirements that closely mirror controls that have been in place in California for years. On January 13, 2024, Breitbart News reported that New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) was pushing the two week waiting period and other controls, including the ability for New Mexicans to sue gun manufacturers. President Joe Biden again mocked gun owners over the weekend, suggesting they will need F-16 fighter jets if they are really serious about taking on the government. Townhall reported Biden speaking to reporters, referencing Thomas Jefferson’s famous quote, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Biden said, “And I love people who say, the ‘blood of liberty,’ or excuse me, ‘the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots.’ Well, guess what, man, I didn’t see a whole lot of patriots that are out there walking around...

When another shooting happens at a place such as a school or a mall, politicians and the media are apt to claim that many hundreds of mass shootings occur each year. “Over the last year since Uvalde, our country has experienced a staggering 650 mass shootings,” President Joe Biden claimed last year. After a mass murder in Lewiston, Maine in late October, CNN said that there had already been “586 mass shootings” that year.
