The former president of grocery store chain Trader Joe's is hoping to make healthy food more accessible to the working poor by opening a store and restaurant that sells expired food, according to Fox News. Doug Rauch's endeavor is called The Daily Table and will open in Dorchester, Mass. come May. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday announced the members of a grocery store task force that will work to find new owners for stores left vacant after Safeway closes all Dominick's stores in the Chicago-area Dec. 28. The twenty-nine Piggly Wiggly stores sold by the family-owned company for an unknown sales price shouldn’t result in any closures, the Christian Science Monitor reported on Sept. 14.
