A new survey from a left-leaning polling outlet finds President Trump running even with the top contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination in Ohio, which the president carried by 8 points in 2016. The latest Public Policy Polling survey, conducted on behalf of the progressive group Innovation Ohio, found former Vice President Joe Biden edging Trump 48 percent to 46 percent in Ohio, which is within the survey’s margin of error. Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) are tied with Trump at 47 percent each. The survey found Trump trailing a generic Democratic presidential candidate 48 percent to...
  • Joe Biden on call for Trump-Ukraine probe: 'I'm the reason there is impeachment going on'

CNN Politics ^ | October 13, 2019 | Sarah Mucha and Eric Bradner
Altoona, Iowa (CNN)Joe Biden said Sunday that even though he was the last top-tier Democratic candidate to call for President Donald Trump's impeachment, "I'm the reason there is impeachment going on." The former vice president lambasted Trump for asking foreign governments to investigate him and his son Hunter -- despite there being no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of either Biden -- at a forum in Iowa, saying that the President is leading the "most corrupt administration in modern American history." "It's gotten so far now, if you don't move on it, then what do we say to the...
  • Trump 2020 campaign disavows parody media massacre video

    10/14/2019 3:15:36 AM PDT · by 2ndDivisionVet · 13 replies
Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign has disavowed a parody video showing the US president massacring media outlets and political rivals. The video was on display at a conference organised by American Priority, a pro-Trump group. Organisers of the event at a Trump resort in Miami, Florida, said the video was part of a "meme exhibition". CNN had called on the Trump campaign to denounce the video "immediately in the strongest possible terms". Tim Murtaugh, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, told the New York Times: "That video was not produced by the campaign, and we do not condone violence."
  • Trump won’t lose his job due to impeachment – Dems will have hard time beating him in 2020

Can former Vice President Joe Biden or Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., actually defeat President Trump in the 2020 presidential election? Democrats watching Trump’s Minneapolis rally Thursday night have to wonder. President Trump wowed the crowd in blue-state Minnesota. And what a crowd it was; tens of thousands inside the arena chanting and cheering, while hundreds more stood outside hoping to get in. The energy in the room was extraordinary, especially considering that the president, buoyed by his fans, spoke for an exhausting hour and 45 minutes. Forget the polls, forget the partisan impeachment inquiry; the enthusiasm of those Minnesota supporters...
  • Why Democrats are sure Adam Schiff is the perfect person to take on Trump

The chairman of the House Intel committee, who is leading the impeachment inquiry, couldn't be more different than his prey. No one understands the political perils of impeaching a president quite like Rep. Adam Schiff. In 2000, he won a House seat centered in the north Los Angeles suburbs of Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena by defeating Republican incumbent James Rogan, a colorful and camera-loving former prosecutor who had become nationally prominent as a House manager of President Bill Clinton's impeachment. While Schiff concentrated on district-specific issues, Rogan's high profile in going after Clinton made it easier to portray him as...

'FIRING LINE' WITH MARGARET HOOVER: Governor Larry Hogan (R-MD) joins Firing Line to discuss the Trump impeachment inquiry. Hogan addresses reports that he was considering a primary run against the President, discusses the state of the Republican party, and talks about his record as a Republican governor leading a blue state. (snip) Hogan on Trump alienating groups of people: "We're getting to the people where we're losing suburban women, we're losing all minorities. We're alienating every group we possibly can and we're down to a smaller, shrinking base. Now the president seems to be doubling down on that, that kind...
  • Hillary Clinton in 2020? You laughed. Donald Trump didn’t

Many of you dismissed my call for a Hillary Clinton versus Donald Trump rematch as lunacy. “Call me crazy,” I wrote. Some of the more polite responses did. But it definitely caught the attention of Donald Trump. How else to explain his out-of-right-field tweet Tuesday after yours truly wrote that Clinton would make a far stronger 2020 opponent than any of the Democrats now running? “I think that Crooked Hillary Clinton should enter the race to try and steal it away from Uber Left Elizabeth Warren,” the president tweeted. “Only one condition. The Crooked one must explain all of her...
  • What Trump supporters think of impeachment

President Trump is fighting back against an impeachment inquiry by taking his counterpunching style on the road. What do fans at one of his rallies make of the scandal? "It's the first time I've worn my cap downtown," confesses Jake Biehn as he waits for President Donald Trump's rally to start in Minneapolis, a city currently run by Democrats. If he worried about standing out in his Make America Great Again baseball cap, he needn't have been. The centre of the city is a bobbing sea of red and white. The slogan is on t-shirts - along with Women for...

AURORA • Leading Colorado Republicans and supporters of President Donald Trump braved sub-freezing temperatures Thursday to demand that U.S. Rep. Jason Crow and his fellow House Democrats drop the escalating impeachment inquiry targeting the GOP president. "We know the Republicans are the party of fighters, we are the party that's going to pay attention to the facts — the roaring economy in our nation and here in Colorado," said Kristi Burton Brown, the Colorado Republican Party's vice chair, at a news conference held outside a building that houses Crow's congressional office in Aurora. "We're going to support the president." Burton...
  • Keene canvasser offers glimpse into Elizabeth Warren's ground game

Hillary Ballantine leaves little to mystery when knocking on doors for Elizabeth Warren. Ballantine, 28, of Keene, is usually swagged out in attire from the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign — from a navy blue Warren hat to a “the best president money CAN’T buy” T-shirt — in addition to toting a clipboard and brochures. Like any door-to-door canvassing, the environmental scientist and Antioch University New England alumna’s volunteering often draws no answer. But on Saturday morning — still four months out from the New Hampshire primary — some residents she met had already been reached by the campaign before. After...
  • Warren Has Momentum. But These Bernie Supporters Say They'll Never Vote for Her—Even Against Trump

    Newsweek ^ | October 11, 2019 | Shane Croucher
Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has the momentum in the Democratic Party's 2020 race with polls suggesting that she is now pulling ahead of former vice president Joe Biden, the longtime frontrunner in a contest that is still months away from its conclusion in July next year. The data shows she is drawing in a big chunk of support from both moderate and liberal Democratic primary voters. Warren is the most popular second choice among not only Biden's supporters but also those backing independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, a democratic socialist. Yet there is a group of Sanders supporters active on...
  • Chelsea Clinton could run for Nita Lowey’s seat in Congress

    The New York Post ^ | October 10, 2019 | Marisa Schultz
The retirement of longtime New York Rep. Nita Lowey could open the door for a political newcomer with big political name — Chelsea Clinton. “Is Chelsea Clinton going to make her move?” one New York Democrat asked shortly after learning of Lowey’s retirement. Page Six first reported in 2016 that the former first daughter was being groomed for the 17th district seat. The district includes Rockland County and portions of Westchester, including the Chappaqua home of Bill and Hillary Clinton. “Chelsea would be the next extension of the Clinton brand,” a source said at the time. A spokesman for the...

Harry Reid had high praise for President Trump calling him "smart" and hard to beat in a recent appearance. "I used to think that Donald Trump was not too smart. I certainly don't believe that anymore," the former Senate majority leader told David Axelrod in an interview preview that aired Friday on CNN. "I don't think he's intellectually a powerhouse, but he is basically a very, very smart man. No matter what the subject, any argument he involves himself in, it's on his terms." The 79-year-old Nevada Democrat said the Democratic presidential contenders should not be under the illusion that...
  • Morning Joe Panel: Warren ‘Only Thing That Can Keep Trump in Office’

    The Washington Free Beacon ^ | October 11, 2019 | Graham Piro
A panel on MSNBC's Morning Joe expressed skepticism about Sen. Elizabeth Warren's (D., Mass.) ability to defeat President Donald Trump in 2020. "Americans don't want, 160 million Americans don't want to be told they can't get the insurance they want," MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch said. "Elizabeth Warren, and I take a lot of heat for this and she's wonderful, is the only thing that can keep Trump in office." Cohost Joe Scarborough said he has heard from moderate Democratic voters that not nominating former vice president Joe Biden could drive them away from the party. "If what we're hearing is...
  • Here are three scenarios where Trump wins Minnesota

The Twin Cities Pioneer Press ^ | October 11, 2019 | Dave Orrick
No Republican presidential candidate has won Minnesota since Richard Nixon in 1972. But Donald Trump came close in 2016, losing to Hillary Clinton by 44,765 votes, a margin of just over 1.5 percent percentage points. Here are three scenarios — note Minnesota political observers — where Trump can win. WEAK DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE Many Democratic strategists now agree that the biggest problem with Hillary Clinton’s candidacy was Hillary Clinton. For whatever reason, voters simply didn’t turn out for her. Trump’s 1.32 million votes was almost identical to what 2012 GOP candidate Mitt Romney got. But Clinton’s 1.37 million votes was a...

We’ve known it all along. Like their colleagues in Washington, D.C., and around the country, Minnesota Democrats are unable to cope with the 2016 election results. While Reps. Angie Craig, Dean Phillips and Collin Peterson have continued to take their cues from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, local Twin Cities Democrats have also fallen in line, mimicking the rhetoric of their national counterparts to stay in line with their party’s messaging against the president. As Democrats like Mayor Jacob Frey continue to obstruct and ignore the wishes of Minnesotans by announcing that President Donald Trump is not welcome in the city, and...

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez on Thursday defended the committee from intraparty criticisms that it is not taking sufficient steps to counter unsubstantiated attacks by Republicans on former Vice President Joe Biden. “The DNC in 2020 is running a campaign process to make sure that every single person has an opportunity to demonstrate that they are most qualified to be president, and I don’t believe it would be our role to be airing ads every time there is misinformation,” Perez told C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers.” “That is up to the campaign,” he continued. “What we are doing forcefully, and what we’ll...

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Supporters of President Donald Trump began lining up in downtown Minneapolis Thursday morning, hours ahead of the evening rally at Target Center. Groups of supporters, some of which had arrived downtown Wednesday night, could be seen near the arena, some lined up in the Skyway and others in the street, waving Trump flags in the morning rain. ---snip--- On Thursday morning, no protesters were seen gathered downtown. However, a giant balloon depicting Trump as a baby was seen on top of First Avenue, the iconic Minneapolis club across the street from Target Center.

On Thursday evening, President Trump will arrive at Minneapolis’s Target Center for his first political rally since House Democrats began an impeachment investigation. Which raises the question: Why Minnesota? Because Trump thinks he can win there in 2020. “[That’s a] state that I’m going to win — Minnesota,” Trump told Turning Point USA in July. “I almost won it last time. We came [within] just about a point. Minnesota is very hard work for a Republican to win. We almost won it — one more night. I wanted to go there one more time. I said, ‘I’m telling you, we’re...

Joe Biden's efforts to fend off President Donald Trump's claims of the former vice president's inappropriate behavior and his son Hunter’s Ukrainian business dealings during the Obama White House threaten to undercut his campaigns's central argument that he is the sole Democrat who can oust Trump from the Oval Office and restore a sense of normalcy to a country deeply bruised by partisan divisions. Amid a tightening primary contest, his campaign has found itself rebutting the president’s attacks, while simultaneously staying on message to keep the persistent candidacies of his two main rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, Massachusetts Sen....
