Quebec City Police are outside of a mosque where multiple gunshots were fired. Multiple people are feared wounded, according to CBC's French-language service Radio-Canada. Their condition is not known at this time. A number of ambulances are parked outside of the Islamic cultural centre of Quebec in the Sainte-Foy neighbourhood. Police have set up a perimeter around the mosque.

The main suspect in the New Year's Eve attack on an exclusive nightclub in Istanbul has been arrested, Turkish media report. Many people have been wounded in an attack on a nightclub in Istanbul, Turkey's NTV reports. Footage appears to show a number of ambulances and police vehicles outside the Reina nightclub, in the Besiktas area of the city. NTV says two attackers were involved, with CNN Turk reported they were dressed in Santa costumes. Istanbul had been on high alert for any terror attacks, with some 17,000 police officers on duty in the city. There were reportedly several hundred people in the nightclub at the time.

Harvard Law School has announced the launch of a series of paid fellowships for research on issues of Islamic law during the 2017-2018 academic year, aimed at influencing public discourse and U.S. policy on Sharia.
