Pittsburgh City Council on Wednesday advanced legislation that would prohibit licensed mental health professionals from subjecting minors to “conversion therapy,” the practice of attempting to change a person's sexual orientation. The legislation is intended to protect gay and transgender people younger than 18 and was a response to the election of Republican Donald Trump and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as president and vice president, said council President Bruce Kraus, a South Side Democrat. Kraus, who is gay, called conversion therapy “a form of soul murder.” “I think it's obvious if anyone has followed national news there's clearly been a change...

The presidential election was so close that many factors were “but-for” causes of Donald Trump’s victory. One that’s been mostly overlooked is Trump’s surprising success with religious voters. According to exit polls, Trump received 81 percent of the white evangelical Christian vote, and Hillary Clinton only 16 percent. Trump did significantly better than the overtly religious Mitt Romney and the overtly evangelical George W. Bush. He likely over-performed among other theologically conservative voters, such as traditionalist Catholics, as well. Not bad for a thrice-married adulterer of no discernible faith.

“I haven’t slept in my room since the election.” That is the exact headline of an op-ed recently published in The Washington Post by Ian Ware, a sophomore at the University of Virginia studying foreign affairs and American studies. Ware writes he’s avoided his dorm and instead slept on couches, futons, floors and unoccupied beds in his friends’ homes.

This is a guest post by a well-known political commentator, the father of Pajama Boy. He is a true "Obama patriot," whose views should matter little after mid-day on January 20th. Here are the thoughts of President Reject Obama:President Elect Donald Trump violated all known rules of common decency by accepting a telephone call from Taiwanese "President" Tsai Ing-wen without My permission. Indeed, Ms. Tsai did as well by placing the call without My permission. Obviously, I would not have granted permission because it was just a trick, intended to embarrass Me and My fundamentally transformed country. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Saturday the...

Celebrities including Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro and Michael Jordan were also among the 21 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Barack Obama said it was easy to forget the risk Ellen De Generes took to come out as gay in 1997. He said her bravery helped "push our country in the direction of justice". "It's easy to forget now, when we've come so far... just how much courage was required for Ellen to...

November 15, 2016 -- Those who are setting our so-called “values”, such as the small but powerful group of academics, mainstream media, and homosexual activists, do so by attempting to impose strange myths and ideas that have no scientific basis. These myths include the one that homosexuals are “born that way”, can’t change, and must be accepted for “who they are”. Further, those claiming they are a different gender than that with which they were born, i.e. the transgendered, who “feel” they belong to other than their gender at birth, must be accepted as such. The public is supposed to...

DONALD Trump is reportedly considering a woman to run the Republican Party and an openly gay man to represent the US at the United Nations, two moves that would inject diversity into his team. The President-elect revealed Sunday night that he had chosen Washington insider Reince Priebus as White House chief of staff and firebrand conservative Stephen Bannon as chief strategist. He faced widespread criticism for giving a top job to Mr Bannon, a fierce critic of House Speaker Paul Ryan. Mr Bannon spearheaded Breitbart News website’s shift into a forum for the “alt-right”, a loose online confederation of Neo-Nazis,...

Movies with no homosexual content make about six times more money at the box office than movies with some, frequent or heavy homosexual content, according to a three-year study by Movieguide and the Christian Film & Television Commission. The study is part of a detailed economic report to the entertainment industry recently released by Movieguide and the family advocacy group’s founder, Ted Baehr. “We do an analysis of all [categories of] the box office and for many years, people would say that violence sells or sex sells and of course, we’ve found that not to be the case,” Baehr told...

Long-simmering racial tensions in one of the country's iconic gay neighborhoods have reached a boil after the release of a video clip in which a club owner repeatedly utters a racial slur, leading to calls for action, including the replacement of Philadelphia's liaison to LGBT residents. Black gays and lesbians in the city say they are carded at clubs in the area known as the Gayborhood while they watch white patrons stroll in. At bars, they say, they wait longer for drinks and are subjected to dress codes that ban athletic gear, Timberland boots and hooded sweatshirts, rules they say...

A Travis County jury returned a not guilty verdict in Bryan Juarez’s murder trial. After resuming discussions on Monday morning, the jury deliberated for 10 ½ hours over two days. Juarez, 23, was on trial for shooting Christopher Burton at an East Austin apartment complex on the evening of Aug. 3, 2015. The altercation was sparked by Burton calling Juarez a gay slur. In Friday’s closing arguments, prosecutors said Juarez was fueled by anger and alcohol when he grabbed a gun from his apartment and confronted Burton about the slur.

A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly putting hydrochloric acid inside what is understood to be a lubricant dispenser at a gay club in Sydney's north-west. Police said the 62-year-old man went into the Bridge Street premises in Rydalmere on Saturday, filling a dispenser inside a room with the highly corrosive acid. Hydrochloric acid is a strong, corrosive acid which can produce burns, ulcers and scars when put into contact with skin.
