GARY — A change of venue for the Gary Police Department’s second gun buyback of the year is expected to get even more firearms off the streets. Nine churches around the city will accept guns of all stripes, Gary Police Chief Wade Ingram told the Finance Committee when he came before it Wednesday asking for a $20,000 appropriation to fund the buyback. GARY | The Gun Buyback hosted this past Saturday by the Gary Police Department is being called an “overwhelming success.” According to Police Chief Wade Ingram, a total of 129 guns were turned in in exchange for Wal-Mart gift cards.
