  • IRS is monitoring comment threads on conservative blogs

The Internal Revenue Service, which claims to be so understaffed that it can’t bother to collect unpaid taxes, or search backup tapes for Lois Lerner’s “missing” emails, apparently has plenty of time to read the comment threads on conservative blogs that have been critical of the agency (Hi there, IRS agents!). William Jacobson, one of the best-informed and most effective critics of the agency, writes on Legal Insurrection: Hey, remember the Reader Poll we did about whether it was okay to follow and try to interview Lois Lerner in her neighborhood? Do you approve of media confronting Lois Lerner in...

    Breitbart ^ | November 14, 2014 | By Ben Shapiro
In July, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin wrote a widely-publicized op-ed for Breitbart News. “Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president,” she wrote. “Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America.” Then, she dropped the bomb: “It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment.” Believe it or not,...

  • Dems on FEC move to regulate internet campaigns, blogs, Drudge

    10/24/2014 5:13:16 PM PDT · by knak · 64 replies
In a surprise move late Friday, a key Democrat on the Federal Election Commission called for burdensome new rules on internet-based campaigning, prompting the Republican chairman to warn that the left wants to regulate conservative political sites and even news outlets like the Drudge Report. Democratic FEC Vice Chair Ann M. Ravel announced plans to begin the process to win regulations on internet-based campaigns and videos, currently free from most of the FEC’s rules. “A reexamination of the commission’s approach to the internet and other emerging technologies is long over due,” she said. The powerplay followed a deadlocked 3-3 vote...
  • Reports Suggest (Obama's) FCC Poised to Regulate Internet

There has been mounting evidence in the last two weeks that the Internet, one of the last unregulated venues for communication, might well be headed for federal regulation. What makes the specter of Internet regulation (or "net neutrality," as its proponents prefer to call it) all the more ominous is that it might become law through rulings by the Federal Communications Commission rather than a vote of elected representatives in Congress. On Sept. 24, the Washington Post reported that the FCC was working with activists seeking to generate comments in favor of tough, 1930s-style regulation of telephone. In what the...
  • A word about posting satire

No, FR is not trying to quash satire. However, it should be clearly labeled as such in the title. Some people seem to think it's great trickling our readers into falling for satire. It's not. A lot of people come to FR and scan the headlines clicking on articles of interest. If they're not familiar with the author or source, they may be misled and may even pass it on to others. No thanks. If you post satire, please label it as "satire' in the title. Thanks

Upon request, I have collected links to many of the earliest threads from September 11, 2001 below. I reviewed threads from the very first FR report (http://www.freeRepublic.com/focus/fr/520255/posts)through thread number 520326. Feel free to add other significant threads, including photo archives. Bumping this thread periodically instead of the original threads will also avoid scaring people with the headlines. Bookmark this thread, and bump it from time to time when the nation and the press seems to forget why we need resolve in the face of evil. Forgive some of the early misinformation and broken photo links, and recall the horror and...

Twice in the past 30 minutes, when executing a link to one of the FreeRepublic posts, Firefox sent me a warning page that the "site" I was going to was a malware threat. In more detail, the notice explained that it gets that threat info from Google, and that FreeRepublic had been identified as a "malware" threat. Who knows if some troll got p-o'd or if WH trolls are involved in having set up the threat notice at Google. I don't know what the mods can do.

I have searched unsuccessfully for an article I read here, maybe years ago, written by a retired police officer about how the democrats have failed African Americans in the city of Chicago. I wish I could remember more specifics from the article, but I can really only remember how much it resonated with me when I read it. It wasn't a long article. Any help locating it here is greatly appreciated.

These are the top 100 conservative websites for 2013 according to Alexa, the web’s number one source for website rankings. This list is based on worldwide rankings, not US rankings. However, it should give you a general idea since almost all of these sites are solely based on conservative American politics. If you want to know what’s happening with conservative politics in the US, this list should keep you busy for a while. The team of experts at RedFlag painstakingly compile these lists on a yearly basis. Do you not see your favorite website here? Websites must first qualify in...

Calling all citizens and patriots! Protest Obama's lawlessness on the border! Prepare to defend the border, repel invaders!! Obama's continuing lawlessness is totally out of control and is now threatening our very existence as a free Republic. Not only is he not securing the border, he's doing the exact opposite. They tried getting a "Dream Act" through the congress to give amnesty to young illegal aliens, but it was rejected by the representatives of we the people in congress, so the president has unconstitutionally "passed" his own "Dream Act" and is now enforcing it rather than the immigration laws legally...
