I saw a couple episodes of The Last Kingdom on Netflix at my daughter's house. No chance of seeing it at home as I have no television or cable. It was actually very good. I learned later that it was based on a series of books by Bernard Cornwell. It's about a Northrumbrian man who was captured as a child by Danes and raised by them. His lifelong goal is to retake his homeland from his uncle who usurped his title.

From The Great Betrayal jacket (1998): Pat Buchanan has seen firsthand the devastating effects of America's slavish devotion to global free trade. As a Republican candidate for president in 1992 and 1996, he met plenty of American workers who had been sacrificed to the Global Economy, and saw towns and entire regions abandoned by the industries that once supported them. While America boasts of having a strong economy - a powerful stock market, booming corporate profits, record CEO salaries - the men and women he met on the campaign trail told a far different story. With free trade now supported...

FreeperBookClub friends (and other book lovers): My latest epic fantasy novel debuts November 15, and since it's written from a conservative perspective, I'm offering free review copies to folks on conservative fora. It's in PDF format, and can be read on mobile phones, Kindle apps, iPads, or any electronic device. The long-term (and subtle) themes for the series include: - A Burkean comparison of French-style "liberation" with true liberty - Conservatism vs. Reaction - Duty before Desire -- the need for rights WITH responsibility

I am studying our Civil War; anybody have any recommendations for reading?

Over the past several years, the term "the Establishment" has been frequently used. The Republican Establishment, the Democrat Establishment, etc. The "Establishment" is nothing more than the ruling oligarchy, "the few" who have consolidated power within themselves and pass it around amongst themselves (witness the Bushes, the Clintons, the Romneys, the Cuomos, the Kennedys, etc.). And witness the means that congressional leaders select and elect only their own types for power (the NRSC, NRCC, DNSC, DNCC and the oligarchs that fund them). There is nothing new in this. In fact, it is quite common in world history. And there is...

There has been a reoccurring thought- that POTUS would declare martial law if he saw his legacy about to go down the drain. So, I wrote a book along this line. Essentially, I believe that there would be a schism, with much of the south and midwest declaring their allegiance to the Constitution and resisting the Washington dictates. Some states would sit it out, others, like California, would support martial law. If interested, the book is out there on Amazon Unlimited. Those that have read it think it is a good read.

PREFACE Thousands of books, documents and articles have been researched over several years in preparation for this book. You will be fascinated by this fast-paced history of the world from a perspective you have never imagined. Current events will come into focus in the back drop of 1,400 years of inconceivable yet true events and conflicts. Every effort has been made to present this information objectively. It is hoped this work is received that way. You will not be the same after you have read what every American needs to know about the Qur'an. Click the source ebook link above...

Available for the first time in a modern and readable edition! Preceding The Federalist by several years, this first volume of John Adams' A Defence of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America, is a profound work of political and governmental theory. What prompted Adams to write such a remarkable treatise was a letter, a letter exchanged between a French statesman and a Welsh philosopher, between Anne-Robert-Jacques Turgot and Dr. Richard Price. In his letter, Turgot criticized the constitutions of government that several of the American states had adopted since their separation from Great Britain. In Turgot's...

The letters of Publicola, a fascinating window into the debate that occurred in the early days of the French Revolution, before significant blood had been shed in France, before the French people had beheaded their king and queen, before the Reign of Terror, before Napoleon was a name of any significance, and before all of Europe became engulfed in war, written anonymously by John Quincy Adams.

In this landmark work of history, Arsonist reveals the secret role of one man who challenged the foundations of feudalism and instigated the American Revolution. James Otis was disgusted by the anti-democratic feudal structure of society and threatened to set it all “in a flame” though, he confessed, he too would likely be consumed in the fire. By the winter of 1760, this provincial bourgeoisie, one of the wealthiest and most intelligent men in the British colonies, had become fully radicalized. That his words – a promise and a prophecy – came to full fruition and his predictions about the...

I am pleased to announce the publication of my new thriller that may be of interest to the broader FR community (some members have already read it). It's called TROPHY TARGET and involves some conservative friendly themes, such as the consequences of not taking the threat of Islamic terrorism seriously. Below is a summary and link to more information. TROPHY TARGETtro·phy ['trÅ-fÄ“] tar·get [ˈtär-gÉ™t] - A uniquely high value individual captured and used by an enemy as leverage for political, military or other strategic purposes Deep in the jungle of French Guiana, a once anonymous soldier of the French Foreign Legion...

I am pleased to announce the publication of my new novel Nation Of One. Some here at FR have already read a draft version and I received some very good comments. This fictional story is one of a great discovery and great responsibility, of science and insanity. There are no aliens, weird weapons, or paranormal activities. This a great escapist, lazy day at the beach kind of novel that I know you'll enjoy. So if you have a mind to help my efforts, click on the link above and help spread the word! Thank you very much and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism...

Some time ago, I got tired of hearing politicians, etc. refer to the United States as a democracy when it is a republic. So I took it upon myself to do something about it. My idea was to produce a short, cheap book which explains the fundamentals of the American government, that could be easily distributed far and wide, similar to Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" or Barry Goldwater's "The Conscience of a Conservative." There is very little material out there on republics and republican government, due to the fact that the word republic has had numerous and various meanings over...

[Review of "Credentialed to Destroy: How and Why Education Became a Weapon"]Ideally, everyone would read this book, especially those hoping to stop the continued degradation of the public school system. I think it's fair to call Robin Eubanks the nation's foremost education intellectual. She explains the decline of the public schools thoroughly and at deeper levels than you will typically find. She is an attorney and her book can be regarded as a lawsuit brought by The People against a reckless and destructive Education Establishment. In short, she takes on the extremists plotting to make the country dumb and dumber....

Who is John Galt?: A Navigational Guide to Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged is now available at Amazon. Click here for a link to the book. This book is the result of our first FReeper Book Club. In recent press articles and among the general public, there is a sense that Ayn Rand’s monumental Atlas Shrugged is a prophetic work, accurately predicting the Great Recession and the path on which America’s economy and society are set. But Atlas Shrugged is a difficult book to read. Many are daunted by its extreme length, Rand’s prose style, interminable speeches where the action stops...
