Frank Robinson, a star, trailblazer and one of the most decorated baseball figures in history, has died, MASN reported Thursday. He was 83. Robinson, a Hall of Famer and the only player to be named MVP in both the National and American League, had battled cancer for years. The longtime Reds and Orioles outfielder, who also played for the Dodgers, Angels and Indians, collected records and glory in his 21-year career, in which he won the Triple Crown and two World Series.

Prolific slugger. Quintessential hard-ass player and manager. Baseball trailblazer. Frank Robinson, who died in Los Angeles after a battle with bone cancer, was all of those things in a 60-year Hall-of-Fame career during which he hit (10th all-time) 586 home runs, was the only player in history to win Most Valuable Player awards in both leagues, became the first black manager in major league history, won the Triple Crown with the Orioles in 1966 and, as both a player and later-life MLB dean of discipline, was a vigorous proponent of how the game was supposed to be played. By the...

Washington Nationals manager Frank Robinson wants Rafael Palmeiro's hitting statistics wiped out because the Baltimore Orioles first baseman failed a drugs test. "He was found to have used steroids and he served a 10-day suspension," Robinson told MLB.com. Palmeiro was suspended on August 1 after a positive test for a steroid. He told a U.S. congressional committee in March that he had never used steroids. Robinson, a former Baltimore player, manager and club official, also said baseball should not be required to research when a player started using steroids and then remove records for certain seasons. "Where do you go...

The flag, which fluttered above left field at Memorial Stadium, was a study in simplicity - a surprisingly unobtrusive reminder of the day that Frank Robinson became the only player to hit a baseball completely out of the old ballpark. Maybe you have to be from Washington to agonize over what the meaning of "is" is, but nobody from Baltimore ever had to be reminded what the meaning of "Here" was on that orange banner. It represented the defining moment of the most talented player ever to put on an Orioles uniform. Robinson played only six years for the Orioles...
