Fox News will finish 2009 as the top-rated cable news network, a perch it has enjoyed for eight years running. But 2009--the first year of the Obama administration--also marks FNC's highest rated year in the channel's 13-year-history. FNC topped the competition in all dayparts: morning (1 million total viewers, 340,000 viewers in news' target demographic of 25-54-year-olds); total day (1.2 million viewers, 323,000 in the demo); primetime (2.2 million viewers, 551,000 in the demo). Those numbers mark year-to-year demo gains of 14% in the morning, 16% in total day and 10% in primetime (Mon-Sun), according to Nielsen. FNC saw double-digit...

HI GUYS I POSTED A QUESTION BEFORE ABOUT WHERE TO SEE FOX NEWS ONLINE SINCE THEY TAKE IT OFF THE OTHER SITE. I HAVE FOUND A VERY GOOD PLACE TO SEE IT. OK SO HERE IS THE GUYS POST THANKS. If you’re like the thousands of other folks around the world who relied on sites like TikiLive and BlinkoTV to watch Fox News live online- you were probably a little ticked off the day you turned your computer on to watch your favorite Fox News program.. only to see the stream was no longer available. At the Underground, there are...

For days now, the health care legislation in the Senate has been stalled. Democrats are divided over a proposed amendment that would let consumers buy pharmaceuticals from abroad. During the presidential campaign, Obama promised to allow such purchases. But earlier this year he announced his opposition in return for pharmaceutical companies promising to spend at least $150 million, and possibly as much as $200 million, to push his health care legislation. President Obama obviously faces a dilemma: either he keeps the campaign promise he made to voters or he keep his later promise to drug companies. Passing the proposed drug...

is there a way to watch Fox News on the internet?

The broadcasting entertainers Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, while influential with conservatives, Republican strategists explain, aren’t officeholders or political decision makers. Jim DeMint is.The Republican senator from South Carolina is a force moving the party to the right on big issues. He is actively endorsing conservative insurgents over established party candidates from Florida to California. He’s a favorite of the grass-roots “tea party” brigade and Fox News. His growing appeal is such that party insiders even talk about him as a potential presidential candidate. Some conservatives are nuanced: libertarian conservatives, compassionate conservatives, neo-conservatives; not the 58-year-old Mr. DeMint. He goes right...

It might seem a little strange to see Fox News bashed on its Fox broadcast parent network, but that's what you would have witnessed if you tuned into "The Wanda Sykes Show," Saturday night's late-night alternative to NBC's "Saturday Night Live." On the Dec. 12 broadcast of "The Wanda Sykes Show," Sykes, made famous for her attacks on conservative talker Rush Limbaugh and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at last May's White House Correspondents Dinner, took a shot at the Fox News Channel for her perception that it lacks black correspondents (emphasis added). "So I've been digging around here and...

I wasn't sure under which topic this thread should go.. In a previous post here on FR, I gave a link to a page on my personal website/blog where I had embedded some live streaming of Fox News. I decided to do it after Blinkotv did away with FNC. So many people relied on that service to watch FNC..Lately a lot of folks have been forced to cut their cable or satellite subscriptions due to the current financial mess we're in. To make a very long story short, I had an experience with some not-so-friendly folks who decided to check...

One of the favorite talking points that often comes from Fox News detractors is the claim that the News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA) cable news is somehow an organ of the Republican Party. It's a claim that former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn made, along with countless other accusations from prominent Democrats. However, these Democrats would be doing themselves and their audiences a favor to take notice of two Fox News anchors, "Your World" host Neil Cavuto and the weekend edition of "America's News HQ" co-host, Gregg Jarrett. The two recently challenged two Republican members of Congress, Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa,...

John Stossel has broadcast the following email: It’s finally here – my new Fox Business show! Fox fittingly has titled it, Stossel. It premieres Thursday at 8 p.m. It will repeat Fridays at 10 p.m., where I’ll be up against my old program, 20/20. FBN has given me an opportunity to do 44 TV shows on what I am passionate about: economic liberty. For my first shows, at least, I will experiment with a studio audience. I’m inviting both friends, and people who will scream at me and tell me free markets are evil. If you are in the New...

Oliver L. North, host of FOX News Channel’s documentary series "War Stories," is temporarily off the air while he undergoes treatment for prostate cancer, POLITICO has learned. North’s prognosis is excellent, according to sources. North, the Iran-contra figure, became a popular conservative radio host and U.S. Senate candidate in Virginia in 1994. “War Stories” bills itself as profiling “the wars and warriors that shaped American military history.” When he visits military bases, soldiers and Marines scramble for the autograph of the man they call “Colonel North” but who introduces himself with a breezy, “Ollie North.” From North’s biography on FoxNews.com:...

People keep forwarding me emails and blog posts saying ABC fired me. Internet forums claim I was fired because I aired a story about the downside of government-controlled health care. This is silly. It's not even logical. No one can broadcast anything on "20/20" without ABC's approval. The truth is that my departure from ABC was by mutual consent. I left to go to the Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network because I want more time to report on free markets and economic liberty, the kind of reporting I do in this column. With two 24-hour news channels, Fox...

He’s ba-aaack. Or at least, he seems to be. Bill O’Reilly’s impact segment on tonight’s edition of “The O’Reilly Factor” featured a discussion about providing health care for illegal immigrants between O’Reilly and none other than Marc Lamont Hill. As I noted on October 16, Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media (AIM) reported Fox News had fired Marc Lamont Hill. Hill later confirmed this to The Huffington Post. The firing occurred after David Horowitz revealed Hill’s admiration of Assata Shakur, a cop-killer who fled for refuge to Castro’s Cuba. Kincaid then devoted a number of articles to Hill’s heroes, including...

As the Climate-gate controversy continues to grow, amid charges of hiding and manipulating data, and suppressing research by academics who challenge global warming, there is one oft-repeated defense: other independent data-sets all reach the same conclusions. "I think everybody is clear on the science. I think scientists are clear on the science ... I think that this notion that there's some debate . . . on the science is kind of silly," said President Obama's Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, when asked about the president's response to the controversy on Monday. Despite the scandal, Britain's Met, the UK’s National Weather Service,...

As he debuts his prime-time show on Fox Business Network this week, John Stossel talks about his falling out with ABC, his Gordon Gekko fetish—and why Peter Jennings wouldn’t look at him. When John Stossel announced in September that he was leaving ABC after 28 years and heading for Fox News, the obvious question was: What took him so long? The youthful-looking 62-year-old Princeton alum—who keeps fit by playing beach volleyball in Central Park with the likes of John McEnroe—had been co-anchoring the magazine show 20/20 with Barbara Walters. But if he was making more, he was enjoying it less....

And while denying that the White House had attempted to influence the NPR journalist, Anita Dunn, former White House Communications Director did state in an interview with NPR: “We see Fox right now as the source and the outlet for Republican Party talking points.” So take that denial for what it’s worth. And NPR mouthpiece Dana Rehr chimed in: “There’s no relationship between the White House’s criticism of Fox and any discussions about Fox that we’re having.” Sure. And since NPR is funded partially by the government, you can imagine that they realize which side their bread is buttered on.

Prominent libertarian journalist John Stossel's new show is slated to premiere Thursday at 8 PM on the Fox Business Network. Entitled "Stossel", the program will consist of 44 shows exploring topics pertaining to economic liberty. Thursday's premiere will focus on either Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged" or on global warming. Stossel will do the show in front of a live studio audience. Email stosseltix@foxnews.com to secure tickets. The show will broadcast from Fox's studios at 48th Street and 6th Avenue in New York City. Stossel asks all those who do not get the Fox Business Network on their home televisions...

Executives at National Public Radio recently asked the network’s top political correspondent, Mara Liasson, to reconsider her regular appearances on Fox News because of what they perceived as the network’s political bias, two sources familiar with the effort said. According to a source, Liasson was summoned in early October by NPR’s executive editor for news, Dick Meyer, and the network’s supervising senior Washington editor, Ron Elving. The NPR executives said they had concerns that Fox’s programming had grown more partisan, and they asked Liasson to spend 30 days watching the network. At a follow-up meeting last month, Liasson reported that...

Mara Liasson is the national political correspondent for National Public Radio (NPR) and also regularly appears on Fox News Channel's Special Report and Fox News Sunday. It is incredible how far the Obama administration may have taken its "war" on Fox news. According to Politico, NPR, which is partially funded by the US Government, tried to strong-arm Liasson off of Fox News.

Slandering the President John F. Kavanaugh S.J. | NOVEMBER 23, 2009 America Magazine On Oct. 29 Glenn Beck ended his program on Fox TV with the words of Thomas Jefferson: “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.” Beck himself certainly has not been silent. In lectures, best-selling books, a radio program and his television show, he has warned America of the coming tyranny under a conspiratorial president. Armed with videos and quotations ranging from the mindless and amoral behavior of some members of Acorn to reckless statements made by associates and...

When President Barack Obama addressed the cadets at West Point and the American people in a prime time television address he did so with immense expectations on his plate Tuesday night. After all, how would he explain the fact that it took five months to claim that his strategy "was not 'wavering'" from his own policy as it was expressed in March of this very year? President Obama's lengthy speech on Tuesday night was a bag of confusion, poorly defined terms, badly defined objectives and even less overall clarity. In one sentence President Obama proclaimed that the effort in Afghanistan...

President Obama's climate czar, Carol M. Browner, and White House spokesman Robert Gibbs might think that Climate-gate is a nonevent, but on Monday Pennsylvania State University announced that it was launching an investigation into the academic conduct of Michael Mann, the school's Director of the Earth System Science Center. And Tuesday, Phil Jones, the director of the Climatic Research Unit at Britain's University of East Anglia, announced that he would stand aside as director while his university conducted an investigation. Dozens of researchers at other institutions could soon face similar investigations. . . .

FOX News Reporting investigated the $10 billion dollar-a-year textbook industry and how the drive to be politically correct might be taking over American schools. Host Tucker Carlson, asked experts, teachers, publishers and parents the same question: "Do you know what is inside your children's textbooks?" From kindergarten through college, we found staggering errors and omissions which may be pushing agendas, hidden and otherwise. We spoke to the author of “The Language Police,” education historian Diane Ravitch, who said textbook publishers censor images or words they deem to be controversial in children’s textbooks. She told us that publishers pander to special...

With the Copenhagen climate talks starting next week, climate-gate keeps getting worse. There is no precedent for so many academics engaging in coordinated efforts to distort research for political ends. The problems go well beyond deleting e-mails to prevent their disclosure from a Freedom of Information Act request. The UN claims that “there is ‘virtually no possibility’ of a few scientists” biasing their reports. But it doesn’t just involve a few minor figures: implicated are the most powerful and well placed people in academia -- heads of departments and centers. The Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East...

When Fox News' Bill O'Reilly hosts former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee tonight, O'Reilly might consult the "Arkansas Blog" at the Arkansas Times for some questions to pose to the man who commuted Maurice Clemmons' prison sentence. Don't hold your breath. Academic Radical on Fox Cliff Kincaid, November 30, 2009 Bill O’Reilly has brought back cop-killer apologist Marc Lamont Hill as a commentator on his highly-rated cable show, which he calls the “No Spin Zone.” Curiously, this follows the firing of Hill by O’Reilly’s boss, Rupert Murdoch, chairman of News Corporation. There has been no explanation, not even spin, from official Fox News representatives for this strange situation. How can Hill be showing up on the same channel that fired him? On his show, O’Reilly postures as a defender of police officers and law enforcement authorities. He frequently taunts public officials...

Glenn Beck - he has one of the highest-rated shows on the top cable news network. He's had a number of bestselling books and he's called attention to some unsavory characters working in the Obama administration. Yet - he's somehow considered to be a risky business decision for the powers in charge at Fox News. On CNN's Nov. 29 "Reliable Sources," host Howard Kurtz pointed out Glenn Beck accusing Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., of "hooking" for the so-called $300 million "Louisiana Purchase" provision of the health care bill. "He's talking there about Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu, who did get a...

Let the battle begin. The two Celtic warriors, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, are now officially in a duel to the death after Hannity surpassed O'Reilly as the top cable newscaster of the past week. Sean Hannity's Wednesday interview with Sarah Palin averaged 4.2 million viewers, which was sufficient to crack the top ten telecasts in all of cable last week. O'Reilly's interview with Palin averaged 4.12 million viewers. It marks one of the first times that "Hannity" has ousted "The O'Reilly Factor" from the top spot and sets up a showdown between the two opinionated personalities, who both hail...

Science depends on good quality data. It also relies on replication and sharing data. But the last couple of days have uncovered some shocking revelations. Computer hackers have obtained 160 megabytes of e-mails from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in England. These e-mails, which have now been confirmed as real, involved many researchers across the globe with ideologically similar advocates around the world. They were brazenly discussing the destruction and hiding of data that did not support global warming claims. The academics here also worked closely with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Professor...

Opinion Who's Watching Glenn Beck? Much like the Depression-era demagogue Father Charles Coughlin, the Fox News personality is promoting a mass movement. Should his bosses be pulling the plug? By Tim Rutten November 24, 2009 For nearly a century, the Anti-Defamation League has stared unflinchingly into the dark corners of America's social psyche -- the places where combustible tendencies such as hatred and paranoia pool and, sometimes, burst into flame. As a Jewish organization, the ADL's first preoccupation naturally was anti-Semitism, but in the last few decades it has extended its scrutiny to the whole range of bigoted malevolence --...
