OK, it's just sports. But it's nice to see that pompous jerk Colin Kaepernick get yet another kick in the stomach. His "hating on America" act is distracting to his team and it diminishes the NFL brand in general. I have still not seen an NFL game yet this season, despite being a big-time Patriots fan. I followed the score on this particular game online in the hopes that Kaepernick would lose again. And he didn't disappoint.

Jimmy Johnson's hair was a mess. I mean, it was all over the place, and he couldn't care less. This happened long before the perfectly groomed Jimmy joined Howie, Terry and Michael as NFL analysts for Fox, and he still was years away from winning Super Bowls while yelling, "How 'bout them Cowboys?" Instead, way back then, with no brush or comb in sight around the visitors' locker room at Notre Dame Stadium in October 1988, Johnson was the coach of the Miami Hurricanes, and you'd think he was just in the midst of one.

If history is written by the victors, then the story of the 2012 Big Ten championship game should be written by nobody. It was not much of a game, it should not have decided a championship, and it made the proud Big Ten look like it was selling fake Rolexes in a dark alley. The game was supposed to pit the champions of the self-importantly-named Legends and Leaders divisions. But the Leaders' leader, undefeated Ohio State, was ineligible because of NCAA violations. So was second-place Penn State. That left third-place Wisconsin—which went 4–4 in the league—to face Legends champion Nebraska.

After the third play of the game, a third-down incompletion from quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, New York Jets fans started loudly booing. It’s like they knew what was coming and were warming up early. NFL players and coaches bristle whenever the word “quit” is brought up. But if what we saw on Monday night in a 41-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts was the Jets actually trying, they’re even worse than we thought.

Sam CooperDecember 6, 2016 The 2016 Heisman Trophy finalists were unveiled Monday night with five players earning invitations to the ceremony Saturday night in New York City. The finalists are: Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma wide receiver Dede Westbrook and Michigan defensive back Jabrill Peppers. Before Alabama’s Derrick Henry (Running Back) won it last year, a quarterback had taken home the Heisman in five straight seasons. With Jackson considered the heavy favorite, a new streak of quarterbacks could begin in 2016. In addition to the five finalists, there were quite a few...

Alabama will play Washington and Ohio State is set to face Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinals. The selection committee stayed with the same top four Sunday as it had going into championship weekend, leaving out No. 5 Penn State even though the Nittany Lions won the Big Ten title game and beat Ohio State earlier in the season.

December 3, 2016 7:57 PM Associated Press ATLANTA — Alabama showed off all its weapons in the Southeastern Conference championship game. Now, the Crimson Tide can expect a return trip to Atlanta for the College Football Playoff. The nation's No. 1 team scored off a blocked punt and an interception return Saturday before wearing down No. 15 Florida in the second half with a dominant running game. The result was a 54-16 rout that positioned Alabama to go for its second straight national title and its fifth crown in the last nine years under coach Nick Saban. Next up: a...

Deshaun Watson's mission is not over. The Heisman Trophy hopeful and third-ranked Clemson Tigers are ready to return to the College Football Playoff and try to resolve some unfinished business from last season. Watson bolstered his candidacy for the sport's biggest individual award by passing for three touchdowns and running for two more to lead the Tigers (12-1, No. 3 CFP) a 42-35 victory over No. 19 Virginia Tech in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game Saturday night.

When I called my father back home in Oregon on a recent Sunday, he rattled off his thoughts about the election, the health of his two dogs and queries about holiday plans. But, as the child of a sports-loving house (Go, Ducks!), I was most surprised by what my dad wasn’t talking about on Sunday — football. He’s not alone in his waning interest. This season, ratings for professional football are down 27 percent across all of the major networks: ESPN, Fox, NBC and CBS, according Forbes. The decline in the ratings underscores a bigger truth that no one wants...

Washington's opportunistic defense and dominant running game most likely ended any debate about whether the Huskies' weak nonconference schedule would keep them out of the College Football Playoff. Taylor Rapp returned one of his two interceptions for a touchdown and Myles Gaskin ran for 159 yards to help No. 4 Washington strengthen its case for a playoff berth with a 41-10 victory over No. 9 Colorado in the Pac-12 championship game Friday night.

If you’re confident Florida will score against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, there’s a bar in Gainesville where you can drink some free alcohol. According to the Alligator, Florida’s student newspaper, the 101 Cantina will offer free shots for every time Florida scores on the Tide. Alabama is a 24-point favorite in the SEC Championship Game rematch.

A large latte. A McPick 2. Two gallons of gas. Yes, the cost of a ticket to a Cleveland Browns game isn't any more than say, a cup of coffee, a fast-food lunch or fuel to drive about 50 miles. For fans of the Browns, who are dangerously close to becoming the second team in NFL history to go 0-16 in a single season, tickets for the team's last two home games are so cheap, it's hard to think of a reason not to go. Other than misery.

Barring a miracle, the San Diego Chargers are expected to exercise the team's option to move to Los Angeles in 2017, sources told ESPN's Jim Trotter. During the NFL owners meetings in January, in which the league approved the relocation of the Rams to Los Angeles, the Chargers were granted the option to relocate to L.A. with a deadline of Jan. 15, 2017.

Bill Connelly December 1, 2016 This might be Nick Saban’s best team ever. But some of college football’s best teams ever have dropped games before. Is it possible for an Alabama team to be underrated? Have we just gotten bored with talking about Nick Saban's Tide? Most of the talk regarding college football's Championship Weekend has centered around the fun matchups in Penn State-Wisconsin, whether Colorado or Virginia Tech has a shot at an upset, or what the Playoff committee might do about Michigan. But we haven't had much to say about Bama, defending national champion and winner of four...

It’s been a rather strange 2016 season in the NFL. Teams expected to be among the top contenders (Colts and Packers) are fighting for their playoff lives, while teams not expected to do much (Raiders and Cowboys) sit atop their divisions and look to secure home-field advantage. Such unpredictability helps make the NFL exciting and fun each year. Two playoff contenders, the Cowboys and Vikings, will battle it out on Thursday Night Football this week. The Cowboys own the NFC East with the best record in the NFL (10-1). They’re also riding a 10-game winning streak thanks to rookie quarterback...
