Senate Judiciary Committee Minority Leader Dianne Feinstein finally released what she says is the original letter to her from Kavanaugh accuser Christine Ford. The letter was first sent to the California Democrat in July. Feinstein or her staff leaked the letter to the press last week. On Sunday she finally released the letter to Majority leader Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Senate Judiciary Cmte. Chairman Grassley released the original letter that Christine Ford first sent to Senator Feinstein on Sunday night. The font in the second paragraph does not match with the rest of the letter. Paul Sperry noticed the discrepancy...

New iPhone 7 recently updated and I can’t remember which browser still allows you to enlarge font on a site like Free Republic and still allow wrap around text in the viewing screen so that you don’t have to scroll left and right like a fool to read each line. Whyyyyy can’t we have FR work well and visibly on mobiles? Or do I just not know the trick?

At a moment when governments and corporations alike are hellbent on snooping through your personal digital messages, it'd sure be nice if there was a font their dragnets couldn't decipher. So Sang Mun tried to build one. Sang, a recent graduate from the Rhode Island Schoold of Design (RISD), has unveiled ZXX—a "a disruptive typeface" that he says is much more difficult for data collectors like the NSA to decrypt. He's made it free to download on his website. "The project started with a genuine question: How can we conceal our fundamental thoughts from artificial intelligences and those who deploy...

........I will be employing my tremendous skill as an illustrator, of course, and expect that my colleagues will do the same. If they refuse, they will be declared weak-kneed, namby-pamby, quisling infidels and will be shamed on this blog (Though such idle threats rarely work these days; perhaps I could threaten them with a painful death, which seems to do the trick). If readers would like to show their solidarity, please email your Mohammad masterpieces to me here: mmoynihan at reason.com. • Question: Is there a way to change the font size on Free Republic? (vanity)

This week the font size of the articles & posts on Free Republic enlarged to the same size as the titles, making the readability for me much harder, particularly when I am scanning the posts. Is there a way to change it back to what it was? I previously viewed the titles in an Arial size 12 font and the body of the thread & posts in size 10. (It is just on the Free Republic website that I have this problem, so it is not my computer's Internet preference settings.)

TYPOGRAPHY CAN subtly or boldly define a company, product, or person. Whether it is Best Buy's big, bold, screaming signs or the sweet, elegant script on a wine label, the type talks to us, the reader. The logos of the presidential candidates are no exception. Clinton The Hillary type palette is far from fresh and colorful; it is begging for legitimacy instead of demanding respect. It projects recycled establishment. The type has a tired feeling, as if the ink has been soaking into the page too long. The Hillary logo has the look of an '80s newspaper layout or an...

When you go through the streets you see buildings which are quite different from warehouses or cinemas or living-houses or shops or public-houses. Sometimes they have towers or pointed windows instead of square ones, but there is always something about them which makes you say, "That is a church" or possibly a "chapel." There is also usually a board outside them with a name upon it and hours of "services." Sometimes these churches are open; if they are Catholic ones, they nearly always are. But a man might well feel too shy to go in, at any rate without being...

Though copy editors and popular writers have known it for long, an experiment by a psychologist establishes the key to impressive writing - keep it plain and simple. Writers who use long words needlessly and choose complicated font styles in print are seen as less intelligent than those who employ basic vocabulary and plain text, according to new research from the Princeton University in New Jersey to be published in the next edition of Applied Cognitive Psychology. In the study titled 'Consequences of Erudite Vernacular Utilized Irrespective of Necessity: Problems with Using Long Words Needlessly', Daniel Oppenheimer based his findings...

CBS Lies. Will Dan Rather Get Away With It This Time? Written by Doc Farmer Sunday, September 12, 2004 Last week, 60 Minutes The Sequel (This Time It's Personal) ran a hard-hitting no-hold-barred investigative report trashing President George W. Bush. This is the fourth or fifth time CBS News has done this. Normally, this is done in the fashion of taking Bush-bashing books being sold by a publisher owned by the parent company of CBS News (Viacom) and doing puffball interviews with the authors. This time, however, CBS decided to raise, ad nauseum, the already discredited canard regarding Dubya's National...

September 11, 2004 MEMO TO: AIR FORCE OFFICE OF SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS RE: POSSIBLE FRAUDULENT AIR FORCE (AIR NATIONAL GUARD) DOCUMENTS As an American citizen, I am requesting an investigation by the AFOSI into the production and use of documents by CBS News which appear to be probable fraudulent representations of Air Force (Air National Guard) documents. This matter is of particular concern since the contents of the documents are being used by Mr. Daniel Rather in an apparent attempt to defame the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States. This activity may also considered as an attempt to...

CBS/AP) Questions are being raised about the authenticity of newly unearthed memos that say President Bush's National Guard commander believed Mr. Bush was shirking his duties. The memos, which were obtained by CBS News' 60 Minutes, say Mr. Bush ignored a direct order from a superior officer and lost his status as a Guard pilot because he failed to meet military performance standards and undergo a required physical exam.
