This is off the beaten path of Obamacare, but I believe it is just as important to the future of America. The basic foundation on which America was established is personal liberty and freedom. By natural extension, that foundation involves the rights of the individual states to do as they see fit, with minimal intervention from the federal government. At every turn, we have seen that intervention turn from minimal to intrusive. New legislation is forcing gun manufacturing company Beretta to uproot and take their business elsewhere. Established in 1526, Beretta holds the distinction of being the oldest active firearms manufacturer in the world. The U.S. factory is located in Accokeek, Maryland, and has been a staple of the local economy for years. Beretta warned that stricter gun control laws would push the company outside of state lines, but that didn’t stop Maryland legislators. Jeffrey Reh, a spokesman for Beretta who also serves as the President of Stoeger Industries under Beretta, announced that the company would begrudgingly uproot and take its business...

The National Rifle Association has been taking a low profile when it comes to the firearms freedom acts that have been passed by seven state legislatures and spawned a growing legal fight between those states, some gun advocates and the U.S. Justice Department. So far it has cleared legislatures in Montana, Tennessee, Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, Arizona and Idaho — and is still pending in others. Alabama, South Carolina, and West Virginia have signed onto the lawsuit even though they have not yet passed firearms freedom act legislation.

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho House members are taking aim at the federal government's authority to regulate guns made and sold in Idaho. The measure approved 52-17 along party lines Tuesday declares that firearms manufactured and sold in the state should not be subject to federal buyer background checks and dealer licensing rules.
