On Monday, Planned Parenthood's president Cecile Richards tweeted a Vine that supposedly showed "what women need" for Valentine's Day. According to Richards, one of the things that women "need" for the holiday is "safe + legal abortion." New Wave Feminists, a group of self-described "badass pro-life feminists," took offense to Richards' claim that women need abortions for Valentine's Day, and instead launched their own counter campaign to show "What Women REALLY Need." Negative stereotypes about environmentalists and feminists are engrained in society, according to a new study. Researchers from the University of Toronto quizzed over 400 Americans about both types of activists and received 'overwhelmingly negative' feedback. The most common words used to describe 'typical feminists' included 'man-hating' and 'unhygienic' while 'tree-hugger' and 'hippie' were attached to 'typical environmentalists'. Revealing their findings in the European Journal of Social Psychology, the researchers say these character attacks 'play a key role in creating resistance to social change.'

Why don’t people behave in more environmentally friendly ways? New research presents one uncomfortable answer: They don’t want to be associated with environmentalists. That’s the conclusion of troubling new research from Canada, which similarly finds support for feminist goals is hampered by a dislike of feminists. A new Samsung TV television advert is outraging rights groups for both women and men, being slammed as sexist from both sides. The commercial - which advertises the brand's Evolution Kit, which turns any Samsung TV into an internet-ready Smart TV - portrays men as useless, loutish neanderthals... and women as pushovers who put up with such behaviour.
