Homesick Californians love their In-N-Out Burger -- to the point where, last year, they bought out a delivery service's entire stock of nasty frozen Double-Doubles in less than 30 minutes. Come November, they'll have a better alternative. CaliBurger, a company so similar to In-N-Out that they were sued over a trademark dispute, has announced that they have signed a lease in the Metropolitan, a shopping center at 10000 Town Center Ave., in Columbia, Md. The restaurant, which has locations in Asia and the Middle East, will open in November.

The head of Arby's restaurant chain has apologized to the Pembroke Pines Police Department after an employee at a local restaurant reportedly refused to serve a uniformed officer. Arby's Chief Executive Officer, Paul Brown, and Senior Vice President of Operations, Scott Boatwright, contacted PPPD Chief Dan Giustino to apologize on behalf of the organization, according to a police report. Both men assured Giustino that the employee's behavior was "unacceptable" and did not represent the company's values. Giustino accepted the apology, and the department considers the matter closed. In a Facebook post Tuesday, another officer alleged that on Monday, a fellow...

Items like Egg McMuffins, hotcakes, sausage burritos, fruit 'n yogurt parfaits, hash browns and biscuits will be available anytime, although the exact menu will vary in different markets. The company said core items like the Big Mac, McNuggets and fries will still be available at all of its locations.

Regulating fast food kids' meals that include toys may end up making the meals healthier, according to a new study. If a proposed new policy in New York City is approved, then fast food meals that come with toys would contain fewer calories overall, and fewer from fat and sodium, researchers report. "We can create policies that will nudge us toward healthier behaviors," said senior author Marie Bragg, of NYU Langone Medical Center in New York. The proposed policy, which was introduced to the New York City Council, says fast food meals that come with a small toy must include...

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a security guard has died after a man walked into a federal building in Manhattan and opened fire. The guard, identified by his union as Idrisa Camara, died shortly after the shooting Friday evening. Police say the gunman walked through a side entrance of the building that houses an immigration court and other government offices. Chief James O'Neil says the gunman later shot himself in the head. He was found dead in the building. A law enforcement official identified the shooter as Kevin Downing, of Fort Lee, New Jersey.
  • Study Showing 15-Dollar-an-Hour Fast-Food Wages Would Raise Prices by Only 4 Percent Is Very Wrong

    National Review ^ | 08/05/2015 | James Sherk
If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Unfortunately, many journalists did not remember that when covering a new report claiming $15-an-hour wages would raise fast-food prices only 4 percent. A closer look shows that the study underlying the report had major methodological errors. More serious analysis shows that $15-an-hour wages would raise fast-food prices by over a third — at least until stores automate work currently done by humans. The study, by Purdue University economists Richard Ghiselli and Jing Ma, has made quite a splash. The Washington Post covered it extensively, concluding that the higher wages...

Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to have it his way with New York’s fast-food industry—and restaurant owners aren’t loving it. Franchise owners say they’re considering a lawsuit against Cuomo’s plan to raise the minimum wage in their eateries to $15 an hour, arguing that it is not fair or legal to be saddled with such a significant increase in labor costs that won’t apply to retail, landscaping, child care or other traditionally low-wage industries. “Singling out fast food restaurants while ignoring other industries that hire workers who are paid under $15 is unfair and discriminatory, harms New York workers, and puts...
  • Cuomo on using executive power: 'I run the government'

ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo made it clear Wednesday why he has recently bypassed the Legislature on different issues like raising the minimum wage for fast-food workers. "I run the government," Cuomo said. "I am the executive and therefore I use executive power. And that’s why the executive is given the power," Cuomo said during an appearance on upstate public radio’s “The Capitol Pressroom.” Cuomo dismissed criticism that his actions represent a major power grab by going around the Legislature. In addition to creating a board that has recommended raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour for fast food workers,...

Byline (Cuomo Quote): "This is just the beginning. We will not stop until we reach true economic justice." Getta load of Andrew Cuomo, the governor of the once-great state of New York. For the first time ever, reports Business Insider, a U.S. state "may single out one industry for a big wage hike." Under a plan approved by New York's Fast Food Wage Board, a $15-per-hour minimum wage would be phased in over three years in New York City and six years across upstate New York, whose economy has long been the American equivalent of East Germany. The mandate would...

NEW YORK (AP) — Fast-food workers in New York state would see a super-sized raise under a plan to phase in a $15 minimum wage — the first time a state has singled out a particular industry for such an increase. The hike, approved Wednesday by the state Wage Board, would increase gradually over three years in New York City and six years for the rest of the state. It would apply to employees at any fast-food restaurant with 30 or more locations, impacting an estimated 200,000 workers. "You cannot live and support a family on $18,000 a year in...

OAK BROOK, Ill., July 22 (UPI) -- Late wakers and breakfast lovers may have something to celebrate: McDonalds is in talks to offer an all-day breakfast menu as soon as October. At approximately 10:30 a.m., most locations of the American fast-food chain switch over their menus so lunch and guests can no longer order hash browns and McGriddles past the cut off time. But according to documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal, the extension customers have been requesting all along may be granted. According to Business Insider, the company started testing out the all-day menu at a few locations...

The Golden Arches are looking a little less shiny this year and McDonald’s franchise owners see hard times coming. This time it has nothing to do with the raging national debate over whether or not the McRib is awesome or awful, however. The vast majority of their fast food outlets are not owned by the corporation, but by franchise operators. Those entrepreneurs are regularly polled about their outlook for the coming year and most of them aren’t putting on their happy faces. (From CNBC) Just when you thought it couldn’t get much worse for McDonald’s, it did.The six-month outlook...

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - When Americans line up for salad, you know there must be something special about it. That's exactly what's happening at the hot new restaurant chain Sweetgreen. It is already being dubbed the "next Chipotle." Sweetgreen was founded in 2007 by three Georgetown University friends who had a simple vision: make healthy food yummy, affordable and fun. "Healthy food shouldn't just be for the top 1%," Jonathan Neman, one of the co-founders, told CNNMoney. He studied abroad in Australia and was frustrated when he returned to the U.S. and felt his affordable meal options were limited. Just...

In what could be a first for a global fast food outlet, Burger King is making a bold proclamation in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community with the launch of a specially packaged burger. The "Be Your Way" project was created at a Burger King franchise in San Francisco, where a limited edition "Proud Whopper" sandwich was added to the menu to coincide with the city's annual pride festivities. According to press materials, guests who ordered the "Proud Whopper" found that the sandwich was the same as a classic Whooper, but came wrapped in a rainbow-colored...

This is exactly what the left pushed for… Fast food chains were never meant to be a place for someone to raise a family of 6, they were to be part time positions with some full-time advancements. Mostly the fast food restaurants were for school aged kids to learn how to interact with people, with a job, to offer spending money, and to begin responsibility learning for their future.

Taco Bell is being accused of promoting "rape culture" by Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr users because of their sauce packets. The sauce packets at Taco Bell have included messages for years, including phrases such as, "Will you marry me." However, other phrases, such as "You know you want me," are raising the eyebrows of some social media users. While most people assumed that the sauce packet is referring to the sauce itself, a number of people are accusing the fast food chain of perpetrating "rape culture." Here are just a few examples:

These are dark days for KFC's once-dominant chicken empire. After five years of crumbling sales, the extra crispy mega-chain, which in 2012 lost its throne as America's top chicken seller to Chick-fil-A, now makes less money than eateries half its size, like Applebee's and Panera Bread. Now, 75 years after "Colonel" Harland Sanders first served his original recipe at a six-seat dining table in rural Kentucky, the chain is betting $185 million on a massive, bizarre turnaround campaign in hopes of winning a seat again at the fast-food table. The chain is blasting out TV ads, offering new Southern-style grub...

CHANNELVIEW, Texas – The pregnant Popeyes manager, who was fired less than 36 hours after a robbery, has been offered her job back. Marissa Holcomb, who is a mother of three with a fourth child on the way, had a meeting with Z & H Foods owner Amin Dhanani on Wednesday, a day after our original story aired of her firing. "He just apologized and pretty much offered me if I wanted to go back to his business and work there again," she said.
