Subway Is Dropping Artificial Ingredients Victor Luckerson @VLuck June 4, 2015 Fast food chain joins Taco Bell and others in offering more natural foods
Subway is joining the growing list of companies that plan to drop artificial ingredients from their menu items. The sandwich chain plans to remove artificial flavors, colors and preservatives from its food in North America by 2017, according to the Associated Press.
Some of the changes will include using banana peppers that are colored with turmeric instead of Yellow No. 5 and using turkey that includes with vinegar rather than the preservative propionic acid.
Haven't darkened the door of a single one since.

It’s worth it. This is an interesting topic.
I was never a fan of turkey: tuna, spam, roast beef, pepperoni, Italian meatballs, ham, chicken, steak or any other meat you can chop, dye and artificially flavor and press. It wouldn’t surprise me if the dough for the buns are some kind of turkey something.
“I’d like a 6 inch gray meat sub, please, with some of that wilted stuff and a few of those yellowish things on top”.
Subway has peaked out....even internationally. Here in Germany, most of its are enjoying success for the first year and then everyone gets tired of it. They’ve been handing out coupons left and right....which hurts franchise owners in the pocket/profit margin.
Artificial ingredients: As I always say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
I used to eat Subway all the time. Then I found Jimmy John’s and Firehouse Subs.
Didn’t know about Mooch’s involvement with Subway. That’s the nail in the coffin.
The grocery store in our 1000 person town had one for a year or two then they got rid of it. I ate there once and cut the roof of my mouth on their bread crust. Never did that on any other bread in my life.
Ditto here.
All got some all natural turkey recently. It was preserved with vinegar. All I could taste was the vinegar. Yuck.
