WASHINGTON — Building the $5.3 billion Keystone XL oil pipeline across the middle of the United States will require thousands of workers and millions of pounds of steel. It will also require a lot of smelly dead rats. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service this month said that Keystone's proposed route across Nebraska put the endangered American burying beetle at risk. The agency said the black and orange-spotted insect could be spared, and the project move forward, if proper procedure is followed. That means pipeline builder TransCanada Corp. will have to trap and relocate the one-inch beetles, using frozen rats...

Infamous rape hoaxster and court deadbeat Tawana Brawley got rock-star treatment in New Jersey yesterday, posing for photos with dozens of supporters honoring her as a courageous victim of injustice—as they stuffed envelopes full of cash for her. Brawley, 40—whose claim that she was raped by six men was revealed to be a fake 25 years ago—beamed as she and her mother, Glenda, were hailed for surviving society’s “lies since 1987.” “Let’s let this young queen Tawana know we love her to death,” said incendiary former City College professor Leonard Jeffries, the master of ceremonies for the event at the...

This will be the last message before the police get me. I never done it. They set me up. Father please forgive me. I am sorry it has come to this.

Remember when Warren Buffett’s secretary was invited to the 2012 State of the Union address to serve as the president’s human prop for raising tax rates on the wealthy? Well, it didn’t work. The president and vice president released their tax returns today, and President Obama’s effective tax rate went down last year, to around 18 percent. That’s closing in on Mitt Romney territory, and we all know he was getting away with something.

A Petersburg minister whose Chesterfield County house was set on fire last month and sparked a potential hate crime probe has been charged with setting the fires himself. Chesterfield police arrested and charged Olander D. Cuthrell, 41, of the 7800 block of Little Ridge Court, on two counts of felony arson. Cuthrell is a minister at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Petersburg. At about 4:30 a.m. on March 15, police were called to Cuthrell's residence where it was reported that a car and a porch were on fire. Both fires were extinguished and no one was injured. A racial slur...

Mayors Against Illegal Guns has begun airing television ads as part of a pledged $12 million campaign to convince viewers to back national measures to end private firearms sales. The spots "feature a gun owner who understands that supporting background checks goes hand in hand with defending the Second Amendment," the group claims on its "Demand Action to End Gun Violence" website. "I believe in the Second Amendment and I'll fight to protect it," the erstwhile MAIG "gun owner" declares, before showing everyone his big "but" that paves the way for all kinds of infringements. -----------------------cut---------------------- Yet doing a similar...

An NHS watchdog has imposed a recruitment freeze on foreign nurses amid fears that workers could have faked documents to get jobs in British hospitals. Nursing regulators admit they do not know how many immigrant workers could have fraudulently secured frontline health positions after faking evidence of their qualifications, experience or identity. The freeze means that around 160 nurses are being prevented from filling vacancies in already stretched NHS units, while the Nursing and Midwifery Council conducts the urgent investigation into its own failings. The astonishing disclosure comes after a week in which the regulator was heavily criticised by MPs.

Members of the Samaria Residents Council slammed leftist groups Thursday after police said that what had been thought to be a “price tag” action by Jewish residents of Esh Kodesh in the Binyamin region turned out to be a dispute between Arabs. It was the Arabs who set fire to six vehicles in the village of Korsa near Shechem last week, deliberately blaming the Jews for their activities. Among the groups with egg on their face in the wake of the police findings is the “Rabbis for Human Rights” organization, which in the wake of the claims by Arabs that...

Senators Bernie Sanders and Barbara Boxer will outline the legislation on Thursday morning. They are even going to let that wacky 350.org activist Bill McKibben speak. Sheesh. Billed as “major” and “comprehensive” legislation, it will have a carbon tax. Here is the statement from Sanders’ office (bold mine): Sanders, Boxer to Introduce Major Climate Change Legislation February 12, 2013 WASHINGTON, Feb 12 – Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) will hold a news conference on Thursday, Feb. 14 to announce comprehensive legislation on climate change. We live in an age of falsity, in which words have lost their meanings and concepts are reinvented as the situation demands. The United States is in a jobless recovery — even if that phrase largely disappeared from the American lexicon about 2004. Good news somehow must follow from a rising unemployment rate, which itself underrepresents the actual percentage of Americans long out of work. At the same time, we are supposed to be relieved that we are in a contracting expansion, where fewer goods and services are proof of a resilient economy. In our debt-ridden revival, borrowing $1 trillion...

On Feb. 1, 2013, Iran unveiled its indigenous fighter jet named "Qaher 313″. The prototype of the Q-313 (or F-313 according to the stencils applied to the aircraft), was presented to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and publicly displayed as part of the Ten-Day Dawn ceremonies held in Iran to celebrate the 1979′s victory of the Islamic Revolution. In the previous days, the Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi had said, "The aircraft will be different from the other fighter jets Iran has already made." Iran's new fighter jet doesn't look like any we've ever seen before. Turns out, as The...

I'm sure we've all seen by now the "photo op" of President Obama shooting skeet. If he's shooting skeet then I'm Daffy Duck. Now, what's wrong with the president's picture? First the weapon is nearly level to the ground. Can't be skeet shooting, nor likely trap either. Second, it is evident that the President has never shot a shotgun before as his stance is leaning slightly backward. Look at the position of his torso to his legs. Skeet or trap shooters never do this. They lean slightly forward like a boxer in the ring. Third, he doesn't know or was never...

After Iran released news that it had successfully launched and recovered a monkey from space, some have begun to question whether the launch went as well as reported — and whether the monkey actually made it out. Earlier today, France24 andThe Independent both noticed that while the monkey seen in press shots had a prominent mole over one eye, there was no sign of it when the animal appeared later at a press conference. Iran also hasn't released shots of the craft itself after landing, a sharp contrast with the photos released from before the event. The above image from...

Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain your Freedom, do so. 1 Cor 7:21 Why do we assume scientists are always right? It seems we are being scammed by some of the shiftiest salesmen on the planet beginning with their most questionable foundation of evolution. While they are intimidating and ridiculing Christians for their belief in an all powerful God, they are promoting a theory that has not made any progress in over a hundred and fifty years. This failure happened in spite of every scientist on the planet attempting...

Beyoncé did not sing the national anthem live at President Obama’s inauguration. Millions of viewers around the world were stunned by the singer’s spectacular rendition of the anthem but The Times has learnt that she was lip-syncing to a pre-recorded backing track. A spokeswoman for the Marine Corp Band Kristen DuBois said it was standard procedure to record a backing track and Beyoncé decided shortly before her performance to rely on the studio version rather

WASHINGTON — Outgoing US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who fell ill in early December and hasn't been seen in public since, will be back at her desk on Monday, her closest aide said. "She's recuperating at home," and will take up her official duties again "next week" Philippe Reines wrote in brief email to AFP when asked about the health of Washington's most traveled top diplomat. **SNIP** Her lengthy absence from public life has sparked claims from some of her fiercer critics that she is trying to avoid testifying in a congressional investigation into a deadly attack on a...
