Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials improperly withheld information from The Daily Caller News Foundation confirming its reporting that the contractor responsible for the August 2015 Gold King Mine spill was awarded nearly $2.7 million not long after the disaster. The EPA internally acknowledged the award and crafted a response to TheDCNF’s finding, according to emails obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, but the response was never sent to the news organization. (RELATED: Feds Obstruct Media Probe By Blocking Interviews With Key Officials) “It just slipped through the cracks,” EPA spokeswoman Melissa Harrison told TheDCNF 32 minutes after deadline. “It...

There’s no amnesty. But we work with them.” Trump was asked, [relevant exchange begins around 3:30] “[Y]ou’re not a criminal alien, you committed no crimes, but you didn’t respect our laws and sovereignty. The Trump campaign is not too impressed with Hillary Clinton’s speech Thursday attacking Breitbart News and the “Alt Right.” Clinton read some of Breitbart’s more colorful headlines in a personal attack on former Breitbart chairman and current Trump campaign chief Steve Bannon in Reno, Nevada. Clinton accused Trump of inciting and encouraging racism by his supporters. But Trump had already pre-empted her with a long address in New Hampshire telling his supporters what Clinton was going to say and declaring, “Shame on you.” Trump campaign manager KellyAnne Conway was succinct and scathing in her official response: "Today proved to the...

A top House Republican [Bob Goodlatte (RINO, Va.)] will release a new proposal in coming days that attempts to resolve the long-running dispute among retailers, state governments and online retailers over how to tax purchases made across state lines. ... sales would be taxed according to the tax base of the retailer and a single tax rate chosen by the consumer’s state, a Judiciary Committee aide said. So, for example, an Ohio company shipping a pair of pants to Maryland would use Ohio’s rules for taxing clothing and Maryland’s tax rate. Currently, that seller only collects taxes on the sale...

Donald Trump laid out new details in a pre-taped interview that aired Wednesday about the border wall he has called to be built on the U.S.-Mexico border. "I think the height could be 35 to 45 feet. That's a good height. That's a good height. Anywhere in that neighborhood. Could be higher," Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity during the second part of an Austin, Texas, town hall. The Republican nominee said he plans to install a fence along 1,000 miles of the 2,000-mile border because only that portion needs to be reinforced. Trump said the current border allows drug...

A Facebook page that made it appear the Apollo Milling Co. promoted racism against blacks shopping at the North Apollo animal supply store has sparked a lawsuit by the owner of the business founded in 1849. “I was dumbfounded,” owner Dennis Reefer said about the page he contends was created in October by a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 1196 because Reefer refused to publicly support the group during its bitter labor dispute with Allegheny Technologies Inc. Although climate change is thought of as simply a political football, it has been a heated topic among meteorologists for years. I, for one, have changed my conclusion over time on whether humans are responsible for the increased heat content of the Earth. I write this article not to change your mind about global warming; I simply want to show you why I changed mine. Early in my scientific studies at Nebraska, most believed that humans could never pollute this massive globe enough to make a measurable difference. As a student, I learned to never exclude any possibility until ultimately...

Donald Trump may have hinted recently that he intends to soften his tough immigration stances, but he sure didn’t sound that way speaking to several thousand supporters in Tampa on Wednesday. “Hillary Clinton wants a totally open border. We are going to enforce our laws, remove people who overstay their visas,” he promised a boisterous crowd at the Florida State Fairgrounds. “Hillary Clinton would rather give a job to an illegal immigrant than to an unemployed Hispanic citizen, an unemployed African-American citizen, or even to a veteran.” ... “I am going to suspend immigration wherever effective screening cannot take place...
