WASHINGTON (AP) — Wind energy facilities have killed at least 67 golden and bald eagles in the last five years, but the figure could be much higher, according to a new scientific study by government biologists.

The wildfire that’s been raging in Yosemite National Park for 10 days came within two miles of a reservoir that supplies most of San Francisco’s water on Sunday, Reuters reports. The “Rim Fire,” as it’s called, has already burned 134,000 acres, including 11 homes, and threatened both water and power supplies to the city, about 200 miles to the west. Abstract: Recently, many jurisdictions have implemented bans or imposed taxes upon plastic grocery bags on environmental grounds. San Francisco County was the first major US jurisdiction to enact such a regulation, implementing a ban in 2007. There is evidence, however, that reusable grocery bags, a common substitute for plastic bags, contain potentially harmful bacteria.
