Consider this a warning: the theory I’m about to describe is likely to boil untold liters of blood and prompt mountains of angry fists to clench in revolt. It’s the best—the kindest—of you out there likely to get the most upset, too. I’d like to think of myself as being in that category, at least, and these are the types of visceral, illogical reactions I admittedly experienced in my initial reading of this theory. But that’s just the non-scientist in me flaring up, which, on occasion, it embarrassingly does. Otherwise, I must say upfront, the theory makes a considerable deal...

(snip) As the Christmas travel week arrives, it appears Americans are getting used to flying under the specter of terrorism and the new inconveniences the government deems necessary to combat it. Most people surrender to body scans and invasive pat-downs with little fuss. Resignation has replaced fear. (snip) Outrage over the screenings grew in November. Hundreds of thousands of people viewed a cell-phone video in which a California man resisted a scan and groin check at the San Diego airport with the words, "If you touch my junk, I'll have you arrested." Some travelers tried to organize a boycott of...

Obama comments on TSA security measures – well, sort of.

Safety: When U.S soldiers with nail clippers and flight attendants who've survived breast cancer are treated as potential terrorists, you know the TSA is "acting stupidly." Yet the administration thinks everything is fine. Imagine the department of motor vehicles with cattle prods, and you're close to the mentality exhibited by Transportation Safety Administration chief John Pistole on CNN's "State of the Union" show Sunday. He told host Candy Crowley that what the Israelis have "is top-notch security," but the U.S. won't use these techniques because America does not profile. Excuse us? The U.S. won't use what the world's No. 1...

A Transportation Security Administration worker who pretended to find drugs in a passenger's bag at Philadelphia International Airport in January had played the prank more than once and told one of his victims that "she would have to admit it was funny," according to TSA documents. The documents, which detail the dopey antics of a bomb-appraisal officer whose name has been blacked out, were released on the Smoking Gun website this week. The Inquirer broke the story of Rebecca Solomon, 22, who on Jan. 5 became the unsuspecting butt of the officer's joke when he pretended to find a white,...

Since the new TSA touchy-feely rules are now in effect and the blog topic of the week I thought I’d share a riveting and revealing story that is quickly going viral. This gentleman’s blog post on his fun at the airport has received over 5,000 comments and his calm but brave stand against fairly invasive airport security procedures has made him a Robin Hood for a great many Americans who are just fed up with it all. Pay special attention to the multitude of threats he received and the statements about him ‘giving up his rights’ that pepper the account....

Sometimes it’s the little things…… A few years ago, when TSA was implemented, all the baggage inspectors wore a simple uniform. It was an inexpensive white uniform shirt with a fabric representation of a badge embroidered sewn into the shirt over the left breast pocket. On the back of the shirt, about 8 inches below the collar line, the letters TSA were embroidered. TSA emblem patches adorned each shoulder From the front, back or side, there was no doubt you were dealing with a government-authorized baggage screener. But that wasn’t macho enough for our latest coven of government snoops. In...

Reader Spencer writes: En route home through Charlotte, our 6 year old son was subjected to an aggressive pat down by a female TSA employee. He was pleading for me to help him and I was admonished for trying to comfort him. His genitals area was groped. He walked down to the plane in tears. When the stewardess asked why he was crying, I explained my frustration and I was further admonished for not being more compliant. My wife was in a wheel chair so she also recieved the pat down by another very unfriendly TSA worker. She felt violated...
