Sometimes its the little things
A few years ago, when TSA was implemented, all the baggage inspectors wore a simple uniform. It was an inexpensive white uniform shirt with a fabric representation of a badge embroidered sewn into the shirt over the left breast pocket. On the back of the shirt, about 8 inches below the collar line, the letters TSA were embroidered. TSA emblem patches adorned each shoulder
From the front, back or side, there was no doubt you were dealing with a government-authorized baggage screener.
But that wasnt macho enough for our latest coven of government snoops.
In the midst of government money shortages, the TSA spent millions of dollars to design and manufacture new uniforms with new metal police-style badges for those dedicated government employees who make between $30,000 and $60,000 per year for pawing through our underwear. Their bosses can makeup to $155,000 per year!
Add the cost of 6,500 new badges at more than $100.00 each, plus the tariff for the spiffy new police-style Deep Blue shirts, at about $70.00 each, and of course, every undies inspector needs at least 5 shirts . and you understand why we are so deep in hock to the next generation!
The reason for these huge over-expenditures for the pretty new shirts and badges? In the words of one TSA union official; So we get more respect!
And what about the tens of thousands of old perfectly good white shirts? They threw them away!
Next time a TSA inspector hassles you, consider telling him or her that they sure look pretty in their new, almost-a-real-cop badges!
Bahges? We don’t need no stinkin’ bahges.
I won’t be seeing any of them myself as I don’t have any reason to fly anymore, and if I did, I wouldn’t anyway, but thanks for your post. It’s a good one as usual.
I must be the luckiest guy in the skies; over the last 2 years I have flown almost 200,000 miles, and don’t have one bad story to share.
Not saying I don’t believe all of the horror stories, just saying I must be lucky.
Hopefully my luck holds out next month when I fly from JFK-LAX-SAN-LAX-JFK.
Please say a prayer for us. We are going to Orlando in December. My girls are wearing sanitary pads because they are horrified that they will be “felt up”.
I don’t have a problem with them going through the full body scans, but I hear that some people are pulled out randomly.
We are leaving out of Detroit.
Well, after all it IS free money!
As a side note, Mrs. Elpinta needed to travel next month, got a great and relaxing deal on Amtrak, she is really excited.
Of course, Amtrak too will have gropers soon, but not that soon.
May your journey be as hassle free as all of mine have been!
Thank you!
