"She will give it her all. I don’t think she will stop until she gets there."Veterinarians are calling a terrier mix who was shot by her former owner in Riverside an "unstoppable miracle dog" after she was attacked by another dog earlier this week and overcame death once again. Back in June, 3-year-old Shayla and five other dogs were shot from behind by their now-former owner in Riverside. Shelter Hope Pet Shop, a Ventura County rescue group, picked up Shayla, and the road to recovery from a bullet to the hips began. "I love her," said Mary Emerick, who was...

Nine days after a deadly 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck Italy, a golden retriever named Romeo has emerged from the rubble. Firemen located the dog Friday evening, after accompanying Romeo’s owners to the rubble of their former home to collect belongings. He began barking as they neared the debris. In true dog fashion, Romeo — who sports a patch of white fur on his forehead — seemed completely unfazed by the traumatic event, happily wagging his tail and he climbed down the pile of rubble to reunite with his owners, who had given up home of finding their precious pooch alive.

When you praise a dog, it's listening not just to the words you say but also how you say them. That might not be huge news to dog owners. But now scientists have explored this phenomenon by using an imaging machine to peek inside the brains of 13 dogs as they listened to their trainer's voice. The reward pathway in the dogs' brains lit up when they heard both praising words and an approving intonation — but not when they heard random words spoken in a praising tone or praise words spoken in a flat tone, according to a report...

When it comes to dogs, do you think they prefer a nice belly rub or a delicious treat? While the dog from the Beggin' Strips commercial is always thrilled about devouring his treat, chances are he actually would have preferred a nice pat on the head, according to new research. Scientists at Emory University wanted to see if dogs value human companionship more than food. This led them to conduct brain scans of 15 dogs while presenting objects paired with rewards. For example, after the dogs were shown a toy car, their owners would praise them....

This mom was focused on getting her baby to say 'mama', by repeating the word over and over. The family dog sat by and wimpered until it turned into words where he can be heard mimicking the mother as he's saying 'mama'. It could be safe to say that the dog's motivation of imitating the sound was his desire for the food being waived infront of his face. Jealous of his quick studies, the baby pushes the dog away, still unable to say 'mama'.
