Gary Miller must really be angry about getting run off as chancellor of UNC-Wilmington. On his way out the door, he's left us with more bad news. Apparently, five diversity offices and a small army of administrators to manage them just isn't enough diversity spending. So we are adding a new Chief Diversity Officer to head the main Office of Diversity and Inclusion - one who will also sit on the white chancellor's cabinet and shield him from accusations of racism in exchange for a six-digit salary that will drive up tuition and consequently reduce black enrollment. The advertisement for...

The United States Patent and Trademark Office invalidated several patents belonging to the Washington Redskins. This is not the first attempt by aggrieved parties to have the trademarks revoked. A recent poll showed more than 70 percent of Redskins fans opposed changing the team name. More so, a majority of Americans have not found the team name to be offensive. Even more telling, there are numerous sports teams on Indian reservations around the United States that use the name Redskins. When the team name and logo were created, Native Americans participated. But the patent office has ruled that, at...

He says he was just minding his own business at the Burmont and Morgan trolley stop last week when about six teens came up to him. Before multiculturalism and diversity became the dogma of our times, before the 1970s, socialist parties and labor federations across the Western world opposed unrestricted immigration because it lowered wages and threatened labor union solidarity. Today, by contrast, socialists and leftists in general, are vocal supporters of immigration. For a socialist today all criticism of immigration is "victimizing the poor." Any genuine evidence of the harm caused by the importation of cheap labor to native workers is simply overlooked. One cannot convince a socialist of the lack of logic in their beliefs. Socialism is not a rational stance; it is merely...

She called her a cracker," said Jessica Jaworski. The attack looked planned, with the camera rolling even before the beating even started.

Academia is doubling down on diversity and on anyone who comes near it offering diverse thoughts. condoleezza rice A special supplement of The Chronicle of Higher Education features articles entitled: “First-Generation at Georgetown—A broad support system helps students succeed among wealthier—and worldlier—classmates;” “Undocumented at Berkeley—A special program at Berkeley gives young immigrants a pathway;” “Navigating the Fafsa Wilderness—A U. of Buffalo professor’s project to help students fill out the complicated aid forms has helped more go to college;” and “Helping Hispanic Students Beat the Odds.” Worthy goals to be sure, at least those that don’t skirt U.S. immigration law. Nevertheless,...

'We've engineered the biographical questionnaire in a way that we think will promote diversity.'" The initial hurdle for all applicants was based solely on a new, online biographical questionnaire that gave test takers instant results. "It didn't ask me anything about my college experience, my grades, my scores, (and) my ability for the actual job. It asked me what sports I played in high school. What was my least favorite subject in high school. Nothing related to aviation," remembered Meryhew

Maybe just call them White Asians and that will make it okay. The New York Times and assorted liberal activists are complaining that Google is too white. And by too white, they mean less white than the national average. Non-Hispanic whites are 61 percent of the Google work force, slightly below the national average. (That average, according to 2006-10 numbers, is 67 percent.) Google is thus less white than the typical American company. But the New York Times is unhappy… Google’s disclosures come amid an escalating debate over the lack of diversity in the tech industry. Although tech is a key...

A Cincinnati man says that a group of black teenagers yelled at him and a group of white people “Why are you white people in our neighborhood?” before attacking him, in what police are investigating as a hate crime. The attacks occurred at the three-day Taste of Cincinnati event last Sunday. The annual event attracts over half a million visitors to the area. But it also apparently attracted violent groups of young people. A police report obtained by The Daily Caller classifies attacks on two men, Scottie Hunter and Randy Ulses, as hate crimes. The report says that Ulses, white, was...

In the sixth year of the presidency of an African-American, and long after Jesse Jackson, Sr. is considered relevant to anything, Silicon Valley's biggest companies are rushing in to resuscitate his career as tribute artist. Jackson once again has resorted to his anachronistic but apparently still effective playbook. He issues an ultimatum for more "diversity." As he sees it, the company has a choice: 1) expand hiring, marketing and other activities in ways that favor nonwhites; or 2) get ready for a boycott, picketing, a lawsuit or other bad publicity, even though it has been years since he has...

Black Beach Week used to get all the glory: Every Memorial Day weekend, 300,000 black people gathered in Miami Beach to get their freak on. And also create a tsunami of violence, robbery, shootings, carjackings, vandalism, mayhem, noise and trash. snip... Last year, a local radio personality said all the ruckus was just one big misunderstanding. She could speak for all of those who still refuse to believe that black mob violence exists out of proportion on Memorial Day. And every other day: "You had many more people up that way than previous years," said Jill Tracey. "You have that...

Today we reflect on what passes for debate in the Age of Obama: No, this is real. Complete explanation in, of all places, The Atlantic: Hacking Traditional College Debate's White-Privilege Problem.Which begs the question: were this not the Age of Obama, could the soft racism of lowered expectations have so completely transformed the art of competitive collegiate debate? (That’s a rhetorical question, if anyone’s keeping score.)Clearly what is demonstrated in the video is not classic debate, where arguments are made and refuted. It’s more like classic performance art; a rant, if you will, of the take-no-prisoners (or breath) variety that...

Google Finally Discloses Its Data On Diversity, And The Numbers Aren't Great Karyne LevyMay 28, 2014, 7:05 PM Google today released a report that details the ethnic and gender makeup of its employees. Until now, Google — as well as other companies in the Silicon Valley — had been reluctant to show diversity numbers. And after seeing the report, it's easy to see why. The company also shared even more numbers with PBS NewsHour: Women account for only 21% of the top positions in the company, which has just under 50,000 employees. Google announced that it was going to release...

I wrote here and here about the Obama administration’s proposed rule on “affirmatively furthering fair housing” (AFFH), an attempt to dictate how we shall live. In essence, President Obama seeks to use the power of the national government to create communities of a certain kind, each having what the federal government deems an appropriate mix of economic, racial, and ethnic diversity. The proposed AFFH rule, issued last July, was expected to be finalized by the end of last year. But the year ended with no further action. 2014 was supposed to be the year Obama’s “year of action” — the...
