Republican state Assemblywoman Dierdre Scozzafava has suspended her campaign for upstate New York's 23rd Congressional seat, leaving Democratic nominee Bill Owens and Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman in the race that will conclude Tuesday. The move comes on the heels of a new poll that showed Scozzafava had fallen behind her two competitors in a race too close. The Siena College poll has Owens picking up 36 percent of the vote, while Hoffman has 35 percent. Scozzafava has 20 percent, with nine percent of voters undecided. It's a turnaround from the first Siena poll on the race in September, which...

The youtube video about America Awakening passed the 10,000 view mark today after a month. Thanks to everyone for watching. Please keep passing its message around if you are so inclined. AWAKEN O AMERICA, YOU LIBERTY IS CALLING There is a great evil that has beset our nation and is attempting to destroy it, from within and without. We have the most radical, un-American, and dangerous administration and congress in history. Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves, and if the founders were alive, I believe those men would have rebelled outright against such radical, unconstitutional departures from the...

HAVANA (Reuters) - President Barack Obama is trying to make positive changes in the United States, but is being fought at every turn by right-wingers who hate him because he is black, former Cuban leader Fidel Castro said on Tuesday. In an unusually conciliatory column in the state-run media, Castro said Obama had inherited many problems from his predecessor, George W. Bush, and was trying to resolve them. But the "powerful extreme right won't be happy with anything that diminishes their prerogatives in the slightest way." Obama does not want to change the U.S. political and economic system, but "in...

Isabelle Redford is a 7 year old little girl who loves to draw, but her art is more than just kid stuff. She is an artist. Her drawings are good enough to earn some real money but she isn’t spending it on toys or candy. Isabelle draws cards and raise money to help the orphans. It all started when Isabelle was 5, her mother Kelly Redford told her a story about twin girls in Haiti whose mother died during childbirth. Isabelle immediately asks her mother, “What can we do, we have to help.” Isabelle brainstormed and thought of a way...

A 32-year-old St. George man drowned Saturday while saving his young sons from sinking in a cold Garfield County lake. Shawn Pederson was in a paddle boat in Upper Barker Lake when he noticed that his sons, ages 5 and 7, were having trouble staying above the water as they swam nearby, according to the Garfield County Sheriff's office. Pederson jumped in and kept the boys' heads above water as he tried to get them into the boat. He yelled to J.H. Frost, his father-in-law, and to his brother-in-law, who were on the shore, and the two swam to the...

PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - A mother is counting her blessings after her ten-year-old son defended himself and his younger sister against three people who broke into their apartment. Late Tuesday, West Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputies received a call to a Port Allen apartment complex after several shots rang out from inside one of the apartments. "You are out here trying to work and for someone to come and do that and invade your home is very hard," the children's mother said. She asked to not be identified. Deputies say Dean Favron and Roderick Porter knocked several times on...

If you're anything like me, you were pulling your hair out as all the major news channels dedicated hours of their air time to the Michael Jackson memorial ceremony. Perhaps most disturbing about the overblown display of public affection was the revisionist history which has already set it. To hear Al Sharpton credit MJ with the presidency of Barack Obama and for "breaking down the color curtain," was not only ridiculous, it was infuriating. There have been countless people - black and white - who fought, actually fought, for racial equality in this country. Michael Jackson sang songs. Sharpton also...

TRIBUTE TO NEDA AND ALL BRAVE IRANIAN WOMEN Please watch this great video that represents the depths of the depravity of the tyranical Islamic rule that the people of Iran, and particularly its women, suffer under. We have a bevvy of great news articles for you today - more than enough to tide you over for the weekend! As morbid as it is to admit, Michael Jackson handed Mark Sanford the biggest PR break in history. The Cap & Tax legislation is supposed to be voted on today by the House and, in fact, looked like it was going to pass according to a "test" vote. We've provided you all with more than enough information here to arm yourselves with the facts. Call your representative and tell them just what you think about "Cap and Trade"...

It’s an old device in politics: Set up a straw man to criticize when you can’t win an argument on your own. Such tactics, unfortunately, are standard fare when it comes to efforts by a handful of special interest groups to bring about amnesty for illegal immigrants. Organizations such as the National Council of La Raza, the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the Migration Policy Institute know that most Americans disagree with their desire for amnesty. Most Americans want to see immigration laws enforced. So these groups create straw...

A RISING musical star was allegedly shot dead by her own brothers in the conservative city of Peshawar in Pakistan last week after she had appeared on television. The murder of Ayman Udas, who was in her early thirties and newly married, has shocked the city’s artistic community because it symbolises a backlash against women and cultural freedom in an area that is increasingly dominated by Islamic funda-mentalists. As a singer and song writer in her native Pashto, the language of the tribal areas and the NorthWest Frontier province, Udas frequently performed on PTV, the state-run channel. She won considerable...

There are moments in life when you truly feel alive. Today, May 1st 2009, I feel alive. After days, thousands of miles, countless phone calls...e-mails, outbursts of anger and excitement....blood, sweat, and tears...the seemingly impossible has happened. The last city to be "RESCUED" was Chicago. The figures we had called out to lend a voice to the senseless war in Northern Uganda were: President Obama or his wife Michelle, Vice President Biden, Bono, and Oprah. The woman has spoken, and Oprah is now filming the founders of Invisible Children to be aired on her show today... My friend Jay said...

News outlets are atwitter over a series of actions and gestures on the part of American and Israeli leaders that may presage an upcoming clash between the two nations. This may herald problems for the nation of Israel as she confronts a range of adversaries on her borders — and a particularly lethal one not on her borders but a mere missile ride away: Iran. What can we tell from the fog of diplomacy? The advent of the government of Benjamin Netanyahu has prompted concerns in some quarters (and celebrations in others) that Israeli and American policy will not be...

The FBI is taking a close look at a video that uses slick production and anti-American messages to get young men interested in terrorism. The Feds are trying to figure out how legitimate and significant this video is. At one point in the video, the narrator praises the men who've left the west to fulfill an obligation in the holy war. The 30 minute tape shows Somali and Ethiopian troops fighting in July 2008. Terrorist groups like Al Shebab, are using gunfights like this to lure young American men to join their cause. "This is really shocking that those guys...

The following takes place in an unseen episode of "24." Tony Almeda, glowering, is watching the President live on a television in a coffee shop across the street from the White House. The President (on screen): "In particular, I would like to speak directly to the people and leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Nowruz is just one part of your great and celebrated culture...." Without taking his eyes off the screen, Tony punches in a number on his cell. Jack Bauer answers. "Yeah," he breathes, also watching the president on a mirror server uploaded to his monitor. The...

Via DrewM at Ace’s site. The last time I posted about this, I thought Specter could play Joe Lieberman to Pat Toomey’s Ned Lamont by losing the GOP primary and then winning the general election as an independent. Not so; turns out Pennsylvania law prohibits independent runs by candidates who compete in and lose a primary. So he’s either got to run as a Republican and beat Toomey or duck the showdown by going indie now. Or maybe there’s a third way. In recent days, Specter has quietly lobbied Republicans who control the state Senate to support a proposal that...

College students, faculty and employees who are licensed to carry concealed handguns should be able to tote them on their campuses, where they are now banned, according to a bill filed Monday by Rep. Ernest Wooton, R-Belle Chasse. The measure is identical to one Wooton abandoned on the House floor last year after getting the House committee he chairs to approve it 11-3. Wooton said last year he counted 46 votes of support, seven shy of what was needed, and withdrew the bill in the last stages of the session. Wooton served notice at that time he would bring the...

My name is William Happer, and I am the Cyrus Fogg Bracket Professor of Physics at Princeton University. I am not a climatologist, but I don’t think any of the other witnesses are either. An Oklahoma City police officer wrongly pulled over a man last week and confiscated an anti-President Barack Obama sign the man had on his vehicle. The officer misinterpreted the sign as threatening, said Capt. Steve McCool, of the Oklahoma City Police Department, and took the sign, which read "Abort Obama, not the unborn." Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police car followed him for several miles and then signaled for him to pull over. ''I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison said in a recent phone interview. When the officer asked Harrison if...

ATTORNEY GENERAL USED AN NRA LAWYER TO ARGUE THE STATE’S POSITION DENVER - An appeals court said Wednesday that Oklahoma’s law allowing employees to have guns at work in their locked vehicles is valid. The Denver-based court’s decision overturns a ruling by U.S. District Judge Terence Kern in Tulsa, who barred enforcement of the law. Gov. Brad Henry and Attorney General Drew Edmondson appealed Kern’s 2007 ruling. "It was our opinion that the law is constitutional and the court agreed with us today,” Edmondson spokesman Charlie Price said. "We are thankful for the assistance of the National Rifle Association and...

A former FBI special agent told law enforcement and Homeland Security personnel that a network of Islamic organizations are working to incrementally implement Islamic law in the United States. During a presentation at the Bedford County Emergency Management Agency, former FBI agent John Guandolo briefed members about groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, which he claims is working with other Islamic groups to slowly implement Shariah, also known as Islamic law, which encompasses all areas of life. Guandolo worked in the FBI since 1996, including nine years as a member of its SWAT team. After 9/11, he worked in the...

President Barack Obama has turned fearmongering into an art form. He has repeatedly raised the specter of another Great Depression. First, he did so to win votes in the November election. He has done so again recently to sway congressional votes for his stimulus package. In his remarks, every gloomy statistic on the economy becomes a harbinger of doom. As he tells it, today's economy is the worst since the Great Depression. Without his Recovery and Reinvestment Act, he says, the economy will fall back into that abyss and may never recover.

Most Americans no longer read Alexis de Tocqueville’s masterpiece, Democracy in America, about which I wrote a book (Tocqueville on American Character; from which most of the following is taken) a few years ago. What a pity! No one understood us so well, no one described our current crisis with such brutal accuracy, as Tocqueville. The economics of the current expansion of state power in America are, as I said, “fascist,” but the politics are not. We are not witnessing “American Fascism on the march.” Fascism was a war ideology and grew out of the terrible slaughter of the First...

President Obama is moving quickly to implement his liberal, “post-American” agenda. Right now, Obama and the Pelosi-Reid Congress are using the economic crisis to push massive and unprecedented new government spending that will rapidly move America to the socialist Left. Who can stop the Obama agenda? Only an unprecedented idea-based Resistance from freedom-loving citizens can prevent the full implementation of Obama’s march to the Left. That’s why Grassfire.org is seeking to identify and mobilize grassroots citizens who will Join The Resistance— an alliance of patriotic, resilient and determined conservatives who will not forsake their principles.

We didn’t expect what you see in this picture. This is the square of the Italian Parliament in Rome, Piazza Montecitorio: You can see the Palace on top of the square, and in front a lot of Israeli flags. That was last night from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. What you cannot see here, is the extraordinary number of members of Parliament, about 100 from all political sides, that took the stage during this time: for about three hours we were speaking about the role of Israel, its right to self defense, its moral height, its fight on behalf of us...

Letters from parents often complain of a sense of futility in trying to argue with their own children, who have been fed a steady diet of the politically correct vision of the world, from elementary school to the university. Some ask for suggestions of particular books that might make a dent in the know-it-all attitude of some young people who have heard only one side of the story in classrooms all their lives. That is one way of going about trying to de-program young people. There are, for example, some good books showing what is wrong with the "global warming"...

Some of us have been warning that it was not healthy for the U.S. media to have deified rather than questioned Obama, especially given that they tore apart Bush, ridiculed Palin, and caricatured Hillary. And now we can see the results of their two years of advocacy rather than scrutiny. We are quite literally after two weeks teetering on an Obama implosion—and with no Dick Morris to bail him out—brought on by messianic delusions of grandeur, hubris, and a strange naivete that soaring rhetoric and a multiracial profile can add requisite cover to good old-fashioned Chicago politicking.

It is amazing to me that there is so much confusion over who the terrorists are, who wants war, and who wants peace. I heard Benjamin Netanyahu, the person who could soon become Israel’s new prime minister, speak this week at the Jerusalem Conference. The most pressing point that he talked about was that under no circumstances should Jerusalem be divided. Many believe that if Jerusalem were to divide, the terrorist group Hamas would set up a headquarters here, which would result in Iranian agents — who also wish to see genocide against the Israelis — setting up shop within...

I am now convinced President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, other key leaders in the Democratic Party and the new administration realize they have no viable solutions to the economic crisis, know their own plans are going to exacerbate the problems and have concluded the only hope of maintaining absolute power beyond 2010 will depend on their ability to demonize their opponents and the Bush administration. // snip // The only ideas being put forward by the Democrats are the very ideas that created the crisis in the first place –...
