The campaign to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom has collected 1,950,000 signatures, Katy Grimes of the California Globe reports, far more than the 1.4 million signatures needed to qualify the recall for the ballot. A full 1.6 million signatures were collected entirely by volunteers, and according to organizer Orrin Heatlie, 31.5 percent of the signers were “other than Republicans.” As the recall effort surges, Democrats turn up the volume against it. “Right-wing Republicans in CA are trying to recall Gavin Newsom for the crime of telling people to wear masks and for listening to scientists during COVID,” tweeted Sen....

Wynn Resorts Ltd. WYNN 0.45% added three women to its board as the company continues to manage the fallout from sexual-misconduct allegations against former Chief Executive Steve Wynn. Disclosed on Wednesday, the move came a day after the casino operator’s largest shareholder, Mr. Wynn’s ex-wife Elaine Wynn, demanded the board overhaul its membership to comprise mostly new directors. The new independent directors are Betsy Atkins, Dee Dee Myers and Wendy Webb, bringing the board’s current composition to four women and seven men. The company said the board approved the new directors at a meeting in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

White House officials now say that more than 100 staff members -- at least one of them with routine access to classified material -- have failed to obtain government security clearances, mostly because of "procrastination." White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers is among what she said are about 10 percent of the 1,044 White House staff members who have not completed the FBI clearance process that produces the first level of clearance for access to classified material. Myers said she has routine access to secret material.

A federal investigation of how David H. Petraeus’s biographer obtained numerous classified records is focusing on whether the retired general’s staff gave her sensitive documents at his instruction, according to federal officials familiar with the inquiry. Petraeus and Broadwell have told FBI investigators that Petraeus did not provide her with classified information, law enforcement officials said. Attorneys for the two declined to respond to specific questions for this article, as did Broadwell’s spokeswoman, Dee Dee Myers of the Glover Park Group.
