Otober 14, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Bishop Athanasius Schneider has expressed grief over Pope Francis’ latest encyclical Fratelli Tutti, noting that it “lacks a clearly supernatural horizon,” misrepresents St. Francis, and furthers the theological confusion Pope Francis created with his Abu Dhabi statement.   Reflecting on the time of St. Francis where the saint was called by Christ to rebuild the Church, Archbishop Schneider says, “Today the Church of Rome finds herself in a similar situation of spiritual collapse, due to the spiritual torpor of a majority of the Shepherds of the Church, the excessive absorption of the Pope himself in temporal affairs, and...

Teleios evaluated the influence of religious beliefs on the general wellbeing of college students. Of the 227 participants, there were almost equal portions of self-professed evangelicals, social Christians, agnostic/atheist and other religious groups. Students reported high levels of wellbeing with no statistical difference between religious belief systems. Evangelical Christians more often perceived themselves as: spiritual (P<0.001), accepted by God (P<0.001) and having more purpose (P=0.01). Students who identified as both evangelicals and ‘saved by grace’ showed greater wellbeing (P=0.015). IN SUMMARY, university students have high levels of wellbeing across all religious belief systems, but evangelical Christians show higher levels of...

Live Not by Lies: A Manual for Christian Dissidents Rod Dreher Sentinel 256 pages $15.99 Kindle; $20.49 HardcoverReview by Stephen MorrisIf The Benedict Option (2017) outlined a tactical Christian retreat, Rod Dreher’s Live Not by Lies (2020) is more of a battle plan for when there is no longer somewhere to retreat to. From draconian COVID restrictions and rioting in our streets to the macabre advent calendar of events leading up to the presidential election, 2020 has completely flipped the script on the comforting maxim, It can’t happen here. The concept is simple. Dreher mines the battle-won wisdom gleaned from...

  • Catholic Symbols to be Phased Out from Irish State Schools

An unpublished document by the Education and Training Boards Ireland has raised concerns about the prominence of Catholic practices and symbols in Irish State Schools. The document says that mandatory graduation Masses, diocesan inspections and the prevalence of Catholic symbols found in many formerly vocational schools are contrary to the Education and Training Boards’ (ETBs) multidenominational ethos. The “framework for the recognition of religious belief/identities of all students in ETB schools” mandates that such schools must now no longer bias symbols of one particular religion and should, for example, look to balance traditional Christian symbols during Christmas with Islamic symbols...

Court orders university to pay salary for lost positionALLAHASSEE, Fla. (ChurchMilitant.com) - A persecuted Catholic student has been largely vindicated in court. On Friday, a federal district court ordered Florida State University (FSU) to pay Jack Denton the salary he would have received as student senate president. Denton was president of the Student Government Association Senate at FSU. But he was voted out of office in June, as leftist students were outraged over private comments he made in support of Church teaching on abortion and transgenderism. This order comes in the form of a partial preliminary injunction nearly 40 days...

One of the saddest hallmarks of our times is profound historical ignorance. What makes this ignorance particularly grievous is that it is not self-aware. Rather, it arrogantly considers itself wise and possessed of deep, often hidden truths. Whether this ignorance manifests itself in the study of the saints, Christopher Columbus, the Church Fathers, the Great Persecution, Late Antiquity, Catholic morality, or a million other topics, it is found everywhere. It is truly pandemic. We are surrounded by sophomores in the literal sense of that word—and the sophomores in question are not only wise fools but nasty bullies as well. It...

A hate campaign has destroyed yet another business. But this time, it's a Regent University student's successful animation work that had paid for her education. Ever since she's been able to hold a crayon, art has been Emily Arant's passion. "At age 11, I saw people drawing online and animating online," she said. "I was just instantly [drawn] – I want to do that too." That was 11 years ago. Since then, Arant has made a name for herself as Lupis Vulpes, a top animator known for her eye-popping animal characters and more than 200,000 YouTube subscribers. Her business proved...

The Christian parents of a 6-year-old girl in Pakistan who was beaten and raped by a Muslim have been threatend by local imams with the rape of their other daughters and with financial ruin if they proceed with a legal case, according to the advocacy group British Pakistani Christians, It's one of many such cases cited in a report highlighted by Raymond Ibrahim, a senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute, the David Horowitz Freedom Center and the Middle East Forum. The Christian Post fully endorses the conviction that whichever candidate a pro-life voter chooses to support in the electoral process is a matter of individual conscience. However, while people are certainly entitled to their own opinion they are not entitled to their own facts. When a guest opinion article employs arguments that severely lack factual context, The Christian Post believes it has a journalistic responsibility to its readers to provide that context and perspective in order to help our readers to decide for themselves the best way to express their pro-life convictions in the voting booth. Recently a group of...

My dear friends, as believers in Jesus Christ, this world is not our ETERNAL home (Heb. 11:13, 1 John 2:15-17, Rev. 22:1-5). We are to see ALL things from Heaven's ETERNAL RIGHTEOUS perspective, fully knowing that this world is but a vapor and Almighty God's ETERNAL Kingdom is truly at hand (Isa. 40:6, Col. 3:1-3, 1 John 2:15-17, Rev. 20:11-15, Rev. 22:1-5)! However, as Heaven's ambassadors in time to a lost and dying world (Matt. 28:18-20, 2 Cor, 5:17-21), we have a total sincere ETERNAL interest in the world in which we live and our nation in which we reside....

The cross and the dragon – how Pope Francis is lining up with Xi Jinping Chinese President Xi Jinping’s five-year policy of “Sinification” requires that religious believers be more loyal to the Communist Party than to their religion. The Chinese flag flies in front of a Catholic church in the village of Huangtugang, China. The Vatican and the Communist Chinese Government signed a provisional agreement. Full terms have never been released, but it deals with the appointment of bishops, and expires on October 22, 2020. Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin reported the Pope’s intention to maintain the accord. Critics...

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee for Religious Liberty has joined an interfaith coalition calling on Congress to increase funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). This program provides grants to nonprofits and houses of worship in order to enhance security through improvements to infrastructure, funding for emergency planning and training, upgrading security systems, and some renovation projects. While the program has been popular, lack of funding prompted many applicants for grants to be turned away in 2019. The coalition is calling on Congress to quadruple the total funding for the program to $360 million. From the...

Some Catholic women in Britain are backing an online petition that urges the Church’s leadership in England and Wales to reverse their decision to use the “gender-exclusive” English Standard Version of the Bible (Catholic edition), instead of the Jerusalem Bible translation, at mass. “In choosing this translation over the inclusive Catholic version of the New Jerusalem Bible, the Bishops have chosen to exclude at least 50% of the ecclesial community,” reads the petition to Cardinal Vincent Nichols (Archbishop of Westminster and president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales. “Their choice of Bible translation can but speak of...

Liberation theology is in the news again, as Pope Francis days ago tossed his own “October surprise” into the American election in the form of “Fratelli Tutti.” While pundits debate the encyclical’s possible effect on the Nov. 3 election, the circular letter, which rails at capitalism as inadequate to meet basic human needs, provides further evidence of this pope’s leftist leanings and earned immediate praise from one of liberation theology’s founding fathers, Leonardo Boff.Since the George Floyd death in late May, Protestant and Catholic faith leaders have been commenting on race. Anglican pastors have said racism is structural and...

2020 election is Trump/Viganò vs. Biden/Francis for future of global order Was Fratelli Tutti deliberately released to coincide with the U.S. election? October 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — A decade ago, journalists could barely contain themselves when news of misbehaving clergy came across their desk. Almost every time Pope Benedict said something publicly about homosexuality or abortion, the media pounced, immediately reminding their viewers that the Catholic Church was full of pedophiles and molesters and that it was a blatantly hypocritical organization. Fast forward to today. Despite the fact that Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has blown the lid off rampant homosexuality...
