A deaf man has been shot and killed by Oklahoma City police officers as he approached them holding a metal pipe. The two officers did not hear neighbours shouting "he can't hear you", before opening fire, police captain Bo Mathews said. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – During a time where a large number of Florida residents are without power in the wake of Hurricane Irma, two Florida men were caught attempting to steal a $2,500 utility pole. 42-year-old Blake Lee Waller and 46-year-old Victor Walter Apeler were arrested on grand theft charges Wednesday after someone reported seeing them load the pole onto the top of their car, according to the Jacksonville sheriff’s office.

Two looters were stopped by Jacksonville police while attempting to steal a power pole in the wake of Hurricane Irma. The highly conspicuous thieves were caught red-handed with the pole on top of their SUV. The looters also attached a flag, made of what appears to be t-shirts, to the back of the pole for safety. It is not clear what they intended to use to pole for. Twitter users noted they would have struggled to sell it for recycling considering it is obviously a stolen power pole.

Portland police will no longer maintain a database of suspected gang members, due to concerns that the vast majority of people with the gang label are racial minorities. At least 19 people have been arrested across Florida for trying to loot empty businesses and homes that have been evacuated in preparation for Hurricane Irma. Two people burst into an Orlando sporting store and allegedly stole guns, before facing off with SWAT in a standoff.
