Republican House members released its 'Commitment to America' video and it is filled with stock images of Russia and Ukraine. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, 57, released the video on Friday on behalf of House Republicans, claiming that the 'Democrats have led America off-track' through 'crippling inflation and rampant crime' as well as the 'border chaos.' 'What’s worse, they have ignored your priorities and shown contempt for your values. We will not allow it,' the video narrated. 'We celebrate the rich heritage of the American story and the vibrancy of the American Dream.' But it seems American 'values' lie within...

House Republican leaders on Thursday morning unveiled to GOP members at a conference meeting the party’s new “Commitment to America” agenda, a core group of policies that fit on a pocket card designed to help them and their candidates communicate the GOP’s vision effectively in the midterm elections. House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy and thirty or so of his colleagues will travel to the Pittsburgh area in Pennsylvania on Friday to formally roll out the vision to the American public, but members got a preview of it on Thursday morning in their conference meeting.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) will formally unveil a four-part "Commitment to America" in Pittsburgh on Sept. 19 to tell voters why they should vote for Republicans — not just against Democrats — in November, Axios has learned. Why it matters: Remember the GOP's "Contract with America" in 1994? It made promises on cutting taxes and government and other conservative ideals and was released six weeks before President Clinton's first midterms. Republicans enjoyed massive wins that year and flipped control of the House and Senate. What we're hearing: This document will be much smaller. It aims to give Republicans...

As I’ve documented on a number of occasions, the left ruins everything it touches. There is no exception. From universities to high schools and now including even elementary schools, to late-night TV, to sports, to the arts and, increasingly, science, the left is a destruction machine. And nowhere is this damage more evident or tragic than with regard to women. In fact, nothing demonstrates the power of left-wing ideology as much as what this ideology has done to women. So powerful is leftist ideology, it is more powerful than women’s nature. Here are five examples: 1) Desire to Bond With...

What a terrible betrayal of the Syrian Kurds we saw on Wednesday when the cowards in the U.S. House of Representatives offered up a bipartisan vote of 354 to 60 to condemn President Trump for withdrawing from Syria, including two-thirds of Republicans.

GRAIGNES, France (Reuters) - The lost U.S. paratrooper tapped on the door of the Rigault family’s farmhouse in Normandy in the early hours of June 6, 1944, miles south of his intended drop zone and soaking from his landing in the surrounding marshland. After four years under German occupation, 12-year-old Marthe Rigault, awoken by the roar of aircraft overhead, watched as her parents warmed the foreign soldier with a flask of coffee. By dawn, dozens of men from the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment had hunkered down on the Rigault farm outside the village of Graignes. As they did, the distant...

Updated 07/10/12 – 9:06 p.m. CHICAGO (CBS) — A 5-year-old Orland Park boy at the center of an international custody battle was sent to Ireland on Tuesday to live with his father, even though he was born in the U.S. and has lived most of his life here. Jack Redmond was born in south suburban Blue Island, and has spent all but a few months of his life in the United States. His mother, Mary Redmond, says the Chicago area is all the boy has ever known. His school, his doctor, his dentist, his friends — they’re all here. Custody...

Parly’s comment wasn’t entirely based on the president’s criticism of NATO. She is also keenly aware that the European continent’s defense industry is also not up to par, though individual member countries like Britain and Germany do produce weapon systems for export. And she’s right. But the notion that the Trump administration isn’t committed to NATO or European defense is nonsensical.

Case law concerning involuntary commitment and treatment for mental illness or "dangerousness". All states have laws on the books that allow the authorities to involuntarily commit a person for a short period of time (with a due process mechanism in place to protect the rights of the individual(s) being committed). It has passed constitutional muster. The "Red Flag" gun laws now being discussed would be much LESS restrictive in comparison.

The Baker act, also known as the Florida Mental Health Act of 1971, Florida Statute 394.451-394.47891 or commonly known as the Baker Act. A draconian and unjust law that allows the involuntary institutionalization and examination of an individual for any reason at all. The Baker Act allows for involuntary examination (what some call emergency or involuntary commitment). It can be initiated by judges, law enforcement officials, physicians, or mental health professionals. There must be evidence that the person possibly has a mental illness or is a harm to self, harm to others or self neglectful. Truthfully these standards are...

In spite of the vitriol spewed toward the movie “American Sniper,” Americans flocked to see the Clint Eastwood biopic of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in record numbers. The previous record for a movie opening on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend was set last year by “Ride Along,” which opened with $41 million. “American Sniper” is estimated to have more than doubled that, bringing in an astounding $90.2 million.

Earlier this month, TLC brought back "Sister Wives," a reality show featuring the Utah-based polygamist Brown family of four wives and 17 children, for another season. Since last season, the Browns struck down a major piece of state legislation that may pave the way for the legalization of polygamy under the guise of “religious freedom.” In a nod to anti-gay marriage advocates who warned the legalization of same-sex marriage would lead to other kinds of sexual freedoms, such as polygamy, the ruling is deemed a watershed moment for the rights of polygamist families— of which there is estimated to be...

There was a quiet and peaceful stillness about the cemetery this January day. It was snowing heavily and the pristine white was accumulating between thousands of rows of headstones marking the graves of our true heroes who gave their lives in battle or died in old age, having served our country for decades, fighting enemies to preserve our freedom. A very old general was being buried that day and the Honor Guard and the ceremonial horses were barely visible in the heavy snow. I could hear the cadence of the steps and the horse hooves beating rhythmically against the asphalt....

Reviewing the book years ago and knowing a movie was coming, I didn’t dream that a respected critic would admit the account was factual and call it implausible in the same breath.

We are flying our American flag today in honor of our country’s 237 years of independence from British tyranny. Our flag celebrates my husband’s 27 years of devoted service to our country and the sacrifice of millions of faceless and unknown Americans before him who gave their all to preserve liberty. Our flag honors millions of legal immigrants who had sailed to the New York harbor in unspeakable conditions and waited out the quarantine at Ellis Island to come to the new world.
