Republicans took the lead in early voting in Colorado at the end of the day Friday and held the advantage through the weekend despite robust Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts. The latest early voting numbers released Monday morning show registered Republicans cast 652,380 ballots compared to 645,020 registered Democrats — a 7,360 vote advantage. It’s worth noting that not all Republicans are voting for GOP nominee Donald Trump — just like not all Democrats are supporting party nominee Hillary Clinton. But the early voting is a potential...

The winner of the U.S. presidential election will be determined by about 17 swing counties, with a total of about 500,000 swing voters between them. The American public has heard that 12 swing states will determine who will be the next president. But a book, Presidential Swing States: Why Only Ten Matter, by Hamline University Professor David Schultz, who also edits the Journal of Public Affairs Education, predicts a very small number of America’s 3,142 counties and county equivalents will tip the balance. In Ohio, it’s Hamilton County, home to Cincinnati; In Pennsylvania, the key counties are Bucks and Chester...

“Whether it’s the recent polling that shows this race is a nail-biter, or the fact that Senator Bennet has been forced to go up with his first negative ad on Darryl Glenn, all the evidence points towards an unexpected victory for Republicans in Colorado,” said Restoration PAC founder Doug Truax in a Thursday statement. Mr. Trump has made multiple campaign appearances in Colorado in the last two weeks in an effort to wrest the swing state from the Clinton column, while President Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear Friday in Pueblo. In a much-criticized move, the Clinton campaign pulled its...

New surveys show him making major swing-state gains, on cusp of paving electoral college path Two shocking polls dropped on Wednesday show Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump may be finally on a path to an Electoral College victory. Trump has been struggling to put together the final piece of the electoral puzzle in his presidential bid. In short, he needs 270 electoral votes, and taking the lead in some key swing states has remained elusive. But if the new polls are correct, at least two of those states are now firmly within Trump’s reach. In Virginia, Trump has jumped from...
