United States, the so-called "Kids Climate Case." The brief order was short and direct. Republicans in the Kentucky House are proposing a resolution that would create “a sanctuary state” for fossil fuel-powered generators. The resolution, which was assigned to a committee Wednesday, appears to be modeled after the concept of “sanctuary cities,” which are local jurisdictions that have agreed not to comply with federal immigration regulations. The resolution aims to exempt Kentucky from EPA regulations regarding coal- and natural gas-fired power plants. Permitting for such facilities would be done by the state, and Kentucky agencies would be prohibited from collecting fines or penalties for violations of federal regulations related to fossil fuel-fired power plants.

The California Trucking Association is suing the state’s air-quality agency over a new climate action rule that requires truckers to switch to zero-emissions vehicles by 2042, claiming it “threatens the security and predictability” of the trucking industry. Oil prices reached a nine-month high amid concerns about tight oil supplies after Russia and Saudi Arabia extended supply cuts. Brent futures, a global benchmark to measure oil prices, rose to $91.01 a barrel on Friday, according to MarketWatch, and sits at $90.44 a barrel as of Sunday morning. Prices had already surged last week after Riyadh and Moscow agreed to extend supply cuts beyond October.
