All he needs is “an adventurous female” to be a surrogate mother, says a scientist at Harvard Medical School, and he’s off to the races on a plan to resurrect the extinct Neanderthals. He thinks he has enough Neanderthal DNA that he can “reconstruct” the whole DNA strand. Would that mean filling the little gaps with, say, frog DNA? It worked in Jurassic Park. Professor George Church of Harvard Medical School believes he can reconstruct Neanderthal DNA and resurrect the species which became extinct 33,000 years ago. His scheme is reminiscent of Jurassic Park but, while in the film dinosaurs...

If you’re gay, it sometimes can be difficult to tell friends that you’re also a gun owner. Mark Steiger describes it as “coming out of the gun safe.” If you’re for both gay rights and gun rights, Steiger runs an organization you might want to join. He’s head of the Twin Cities chapter of the Pink Pistols, a shooting group open to people of any sexual orientation that encourages gun ownership among the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. It’s part social group, part gun-safety education provider and part advocacy organization devoted to preserving the rights of gays to protect...

(CNN)Wikileaks founder Julian Assange said Tuesday his whistleblowing website might release "a lot more material" relevant to the US electoral campaign. Assange was speaking in a CNN interview following the release of nearly 20,000 emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee by suspected Russian hackers. However, Assange refused to confirm or deny a Russian origin for the mass email leak, saying Wikileaks tries to create ambiguity to protect all its sources. "Perhaps one day the source or sources will step forward and that might be an interesting moment some people may have egg on their faces. But to exclude certain...

I attended a buffet-style party recently where the food reminded me of the classic Italian appetizer/starter ‘antipasto’ - which literally means ‘before the meal’, or before the main course. And given the temperatures we’ve had here during the past week, it seems that a nice antipasto platter, along with a good bread and a round red wine would be a perfect meal in itself, for an unbearably hot evening - the kind where one would just like to ‘graze’ lazily on some cold, refreshing bites, and share a long conversation while the cicadas sing. The offering classically consists of cured...

As it reaches the end of its life Philae, the first robot to land on a comet, has reached the end of its life and is bidding a final farewell to Earth through a series of sad tweets. “It’s time for me to say goodbye,” Philae tweeted on Tuesday. “Tomorrow, the unit on @ESA_Rosetta for communication with me will be switched off forever…” After launching from a Rosetta probe, Philae landed on 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko in November 2014, becoming the first spacecraft to touch down on a comet. However, landing trouble led Philae to bounce across the landscape of the comet, finally...

... Today, it mixes French political weakness with German moral solipsism. This is a formula for rapid civilizational decline, however many economic or military resources the EU may have at its disposal... ...More important, Europeans will have to learn that powerlessness can be as corrupting as power—and much more dangerous. The storm of terror that is descending on Europe will not end in some new politics of inclusion, community outreach, more foreign aid or one of Mrs. Merkel’s diplomatic Rube Goldbergs. It will end in rivers of blood. Theirs or yours?

Shepard Smith who has his head 10 miles up Hillary's a** is so excited about the Democratic Convention as he trashes Trump about his promise to respond to the needs of the Vets (isn't Trump so silly and dumb per Smith?), and he is very excited about Bill Clinton who will likely bring down the house. Boy what a Party atmosphere from this POS. What a magic moment. What do you think of Shep's coverage? Isn't is so... well, like a soft toy!

Having taken the Dutch fashion industry by storm and designed hands bags for global names like Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey, designer Omar Muni is now turning his attention to helping refugees in a country that welcomed him as a refugee when he was 9 years old. Omar hopes that the launch of his new foundation - The Dutch Tulip, will help to dispel the negative image surrounding refugees and vice versa, at a time when anti-immigration sentiments are on the rise across Europe. The Dutch Tulip launched this month with positive coverage across social media and Dutch media, garnering...

An online petition to remove all air conditioning from Department of State property has gotten more than 1,800 signatures since it was posted online Sunday. A Change.org user named Hopalong Ginsberg created the petition in response to remarks made by Secretary of State John Kerry claiming air conditioning and refrigerants are as much of a threat to the world as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The petition garnered 1,869 signatures by Monday afternoon.

When many reporters heard that the Democratic National Convention would be in Philadelphia there was excitement. It’s a bigger city than Cleveland, better suited for large events with plenty of hotels and a great food scene. Instead, the first day in Philadelphia is turning into a sweltering day of sweaty reporters in unhappy circumstances, loudly complaining to one another after a relatively easy (and cooler) experience in Cleveland.
