Glenn Beck says that Egypt-style chaos in the streets coming to the US soon. By now, many people know that Glenn Beck—along with some conservatives and libertarians—believes that the Egypt uprising is anything but a true people’s movement and a call for democracy. As he and even some Middle East experts see it, the uprising that led to Mubarak’s stepping down yesterday is all a front for the anti-American, non-secular and Islamist Muslim Brotherhood taking over in Egypt. Beck also thinks that the chaos in Egypt’s streets will be the inspiration for revolutions in other countries, with the last stop...

In a press conference held on Monday afternoon in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit responded to criticism by Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Sunday, saying that "They have practically declared war on Egypt via several satellite stations. The Egyptian people reject and opposes this declaration." "They want for there to be chaos in Egypt as there is in their country," Gheit said of Hizbullah. "I tell this man [Nasrallah]: No, no! Our armed forces can defend our homeland from people like you. Your interest in creating chaos is not in the best interest of...

Sorry for back-to-back trade policy vanities. Was reviewing the posts just now, and got to pondering. The left reflexively opposes Sarah Palin. They don't know why, I think it's they're having flashbacks to Anita Bryant. Meanwhile the right, is in a coma, regarding our trade policies. Willfully ignoring the problem, IMHO. Solution to both problems:

A group of on-duty Sanitation supervisors is under investigation for allegedly buying booze and chilling in their cozy department car for hours Monday night after the blizzard stranded a bus and three snowplows blocks away. The city Department of Investigation is probing the incident after witnesses said four snow blowers blew off their duties to get blitzed, buying two six-packs of beer from a Brooklyn bodega. The workers then walked five blocks to their car, which was in 20 inches of snow in the middle of 18th at McDonald avenues near the F train entrance, passing the stuck bus and...

Don Ayotte, with the backing of a vociferous and determined, stacked house, demanded that a Sussex County Resolution be passed, censoring State Chairman Tom Ross for his actions concerning Christine O'Donnell during the Primary campaign and after. According to the resolution, Tom Ross had said "Christine O'Donnell could not be elected to dog catcher". He also "did not support O'Donnell properly after the Primary", according to the resolution in which O'Donnell upset Mike Castle in the wake of Tea Party support. Vitriol, shouting, and a total break down of order transpired. Ron Sams tried to explain that this action would...

The 19th century was the nursery for contemporary politics. Every form of modern political activity -- fascism, communism, socialism, liberalism -- has its roots in that epoch. (Yes, I'm fully aware of such figures as Locke, Burke, Madison, and Jefferson, but their work was hijacked and twisted all out of recognition, in large part by French revolutionaries and assorted German academics. Edmund Burke was so appalled by this that, having invented modern liberalism, he turned around and invented modern conservatism.) Anything coming out of the 19th century is going to be imbued with rationalism, the dominant intellectual credo of the...

Benoît B. Mandelbrot, a maverick mathematician who developed an innovative theory of roughness and applied it to physics, biology, finance and many other fields, died Thursday in Cambridge, Mass. He was 85...Dr. Mandelbrot coined the term “fractal” to refer to a new class of mathematical shapes whose uneven contours could mimic the irregularities found in nature...In a seminal 1982 book, “The Fractal Geometry of Nature,” Dr. Mandelbrot defended mathematical objects that he said others had dismissed as “monstrous” and “pathological.” Using fractal geometry, he argued, the complex outlines of clouds and coastlines, once considered unmeasurable, could now “be approached in...

It is just my opinion but I think there is going to be a "race" war started by Obama in the next few months. I put the word race in quotes because it is not strictly about race. It is not Black vs. White, despite the political divide and submerged hostility and the inability of the Obama Justice Department to enforce the law in a color-blind manner. I submit a few facts in support of my proposition: It has been published that with the impending loss of Democrats in the Congress that Obama intends to impliment his policies more through...

BROWNSVILLE – Brownsville Police Chief Carlos Garcia says the border violence has officially crossed over into the Valley. Two Tamaulipas men were assassinated inside a truck Friday. The chief of police says the investigation has led them to believe this wasn’t a crime committed by someone in the US. “This was a hit ordered by the cartel,” he says. Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos isn’t surprised to see spillover violence in Brownsville. He says, “it was a matter of time before it trickled down to our community.” Residents say they didn't think it would become a reality. One woman who...

The universe was in chaos after the Big Bang kick-started the cosmos, a new study suggests.

While one might expect the explosion that began the universe to wreak some havoc, scientists mean something very specific when they refer to chaos. In a chaotic system, small changes can cause large-scale effects. A commonly cited example is the "butterfly effect" — the idea that a butterfly beating its wing in Brazil can bring about a tornado in Texas.

The ill-fated Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, just 12 days away, has suffered another major setback after a footbridge near the event's main stadium collapsed, injuring at least 23 labourers, five of them seriously. Senior police official H S Dhaliwal said the steel arch supporting the 164-foot long foot-bridge collapsed outside the Nehru Stadium which is to host the opening and closing ceremonies and athletic events of India’s fortnight-long showpiece event beginning on Oct 3. The bridge, linking the car and bus parking lot to the stadium but now a mass of mangled steel, was to have transported thousands of...

Does anyone think this will be built? Americans on both sides of the aisle are opposed to this. Will civil/non-civil disobediance, sit ins, protests, and violence occur? My point is, who will protect the construction of this mosque? Show me an NYPD officer, state officer, Fed officer, or military officer who will protect the construction site? What are the consequences?
