China unearths ancient Caucasian tombs AFP October 25, 2004 BEIJING: Chinese archaeologists have started unearthing hundreds of tombs in an arid north-western region once home to a mysterious civilization that most likely was Caucasian, state media said Sunday. A local NAACP leader says Lisa McClelland's proposed club, which would be open to all races and ethnicities, smacks of racial division, a charge the 15-year-old denies. McClelland says she and some of her friends simply feel a bit slighted since other school clubs cater to specific cultures and races, such as the Black Student Union and the Asian Club.

<p>DENVER — Don't be surprised if the hottest ticket in college basketball this season turns out to be a match between the Fighting Whites and the North American Stealers.</p> <p>The pride of the University of Northern Colorado, the Whites won only two games in their intramural basketball league last year, but their idea of turning the tables on schools with American Indian mascot names has spread like wildfire.</p>

<p>Indian students in Colorado have turned the tables in a debate on racism by naming their intramural basketball team "The Fighting Whities."</p> <p>The students, at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, chose a white man as a mascot after failing to persuade nearby Eaton High School to drop a nickname they say offends them.</p>

<p>"Black applicants have a far better chance of admission to the two leading Virginia law schools [University of Virginia, and William & Mary] than Asians and Hispanics. Blacks with LSAT scores of 160 and grade-point average of 3.25 have a 95 percent chance of being admitted to Virginia, versus a 3 percent chance for equally qualified Hispanics and whites, and a 5 percent chance for Asian applicants."</p>
