New York State Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, known for showing her claws against animal cruelty, is pouncing on a new topic: cat declawing. Rosenthal, who represents district 67, mainly covering Manhattan's Upper West Side, has penned a bill that would ban removing cats' claws unless necessary for medical reasons, the New York Daily News reports. The bill has not yet been introduced to the state Senate, but it has been backed by the Humane Society of New York. "Too often, people think that declawing is a simple surgery that removes a cat's nails—the equivalent of having your fingernails trimmed. Sadly, this...

Click Here for video Cats VS Christmas Trees ... the battle continues! Even though I knew we couldn't leave the Christmas tree up this year because it would be dangerous and Marmalade would more than likely eat something he shouldn't… Marmalade is currently going through chemotherapy and fighting cancer so I decided to put it up anyway so he could have some fun! As you can see from the look of joy and mischief on his face it was well worth the effort :)

A new study on house cats has found that our feline companions are actually only semi-domesticated. People began domesticating cats around 9,000 years ago but DNA researchers from Washington University in St. Louis found that house cats still have many of the same traits as their wild cousins. The fact that cats have retained the ability to hunt and survive effortlessly in the wild just underscores how little impact we humans have had on them.

f you've spent hours patiently trying to teach your puss to perform tricks then the latest online pet craze could be one for you. Cat Circles, where cats are drawn to a makeshift circle, sit down in the middle of the it and then refuse to move, are being recreated all over the world by plain old moggies who seemingly can't pass by a circle without being drawn to it. Hundreds of web users, mainly on Reddit and Imgur, are posting pictures of their successful feats, while vets and pet psychologists remain stumped.

There’s no good time to tell a guy you’re a virgin. First date? Too much, too soon. Wait until the third date and you risk being considered a tease. Second date? Perhaps, but at this point you’re both still fretting over whether or not to eat another piece of bread; delving into sexual histories (or lack thereof) seems a bit extreme. So: There’s no good time to tell a guy you’re a virgin. Even worse? Telling him you’re waiting until marriage.

The feline uprising is upon us, and to be fair, it's about damn time. Our cat companions have suffered for too long at the hands of the internet, as we rush to monetize their every move. Have you ever stopped and considered the fact that maybe they don't want to be internet famous? While we continue to ignore their right to privacy, cats across the nation are rising up against their owners to say: We're mad as hell, and we're not gonna take it anymore, and also, meow, please give us more dry food. Earlier this year, a 20-pound cat...

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Cats have been disappearing in one Port St. Lucie neighborhood so when Sergeant John Holman was called to the 600 block of SE Faith Terrace Friday morning for a report of another deceased cat, he made a startling discovery. Hiding in some brush, Sgt. Holman spotted a 12-foot long 120-pound Burmese Python. Neighbors believe the large snake has been feasting on their felines. I LIVED with the same cat for 19 years — by far the longest relationship of my adult life. Under common law, this cat was my wife. I fell asleep at night with the warm, pleasant weight of the cat on my chest. The first thing I saw on most mornings was the foreshortened paw of the cat retreating slowly from my face and her baleful crescent glare informing me that it was Cat Food Time. As I often told her, in a mellow, resonant, Barry White voice: “There is no luuve … like the luuve that exists … between...

Your cat can haz fun in the sun at what is expected to be a massive meeting of felines and their human counterparts at Dolores Park this Saturday. Now we could be wrong, but it appears that this is the first time San Franciscans have organized such a cat convergence, better known as First Caturday. Needless to say, if you have cat allergies, this might be a good day to visit those friends you've been meaning to see in the far East Bay. First Caturday starts at 2 p.m. sharp, and for the following three hours, cats will have free...

Tonawanda Island is overrun with forgotten felines. They might not have a council or a conch, but cats have completely taken over an island in the middle of the Niagara River in New York. Locals estimate that Tonawanda Island now has hundreds of abandoned and feral cats roaming its shores. People don't live on the 85-acre island year-round, but the cats now do. Word about the cat population has apparently spread because people will come to the island specifically to drop off their unwanted feline friends. "They're throughout the whole island," Mike Charnock, the owner of the Shores Waterfront Restaurant &...
