Investigators have recovered a stolen Ford Taurus that they say was used by two men suspected in a failed carjacking that led to a woman's stabbing death last week as she tried to protect her baby. Sheriff's deputies are "examining the car with a fine-toothed comb" as they seek evidence in last week's slaying of Tina Davila, Harris County sheriff's spokesman Lt. John Legg said today. The car was found Monday in the parking lot of a Pasadena apartment complex, said Capt. John Martin. He said it probably was dumped soon after the stabbing of Davila, who was attacked on...

The major media has ignored this. Why did the Duke case get major coverage and this not? Channon Christian and her boyfriend Christopher Newsom were out for a date in January 2007 when the couple were carjacked, brutally tortured, and raped before being murdered and dumped. Christopher was bound, stripped, and raped. While he was still alive his penis was cut off, then he was shot, and finally set on fire all while his girlfriend was made to watch. His body was dumped by a set of railroad tracks. Channon was kept alive and gang-raped repeatedly over the next four...

They never came back. When the couple had failed to return by the following morning, their parents notified police. The sudden force that the liberal press brought to bear on the falsely accused Duke lacrosse team has been curiously absent on a much more grisly crime committed against a white couple by a group of black youths.Personally, I don't think that local crime issues should ever be covered in the national press but if the media are going to cover them, they need to be consistent. My friend La Shawn Barber has a must-read post on the matter: Early this year, a white couple was carjacked, tortured, raped, and murdered by a group of black thugs. Christopher Newsom (23)...

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Bloggers and media critics are complaining that the national media has ignored the rape and murder of a young Knoxville couple because of the racial implications of the story. Channon Christian, a 21-year-old University of Tennessee student, and her boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, 23, were raped, tortured and killed in January. Separate trial dates were set Thursday for four people charged in the slayings. Online critics have angrily insisted that reporters are ignoring the story because the victims are white and the defendants are black. "I am not going to call it reverse racism," said country singer...

"The evidence will be when she went into that trash can, she was alive," Assistant U.S. Attorney David Jennings said this afternoon in U.S. District Court. "Probably, mercifully, Channon Christian died (later that evening)." Jennings revealed details about the killings of Christian and her 23-year-old boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, as a jury was seated in the trial of Eric Dewayne "E" Boyd. Boyd is charged with helping...

A funny thing happened to a pro-illegal immigrant activist this week in Dallas, Texas. The activist, a League of United Latin American Citizens representative named Jesse Diaz, was carjacked. Obviously there’s nothing funny about someone sticking a gun in another person’s face and stealing his car. This isn’t funny as in hardy-har-har. And everyone is relieved that Mr. Diaz wasn’t hurt by the punk who threatened his life and stole his vehicle in broad daylight. Joe Pettimato holds a sign supporting Hazelton Mayor Lou Barletta as he attends a rally in support of immigrant issues in Scranton, Pennsylvania, March 12,...

MERRIMACK – Never try to steal a man’s brand new sports car. Never try to steal a man’s brand new sports car, even if he has a hot coffee in his hand. Kendall walked out of Bon Bon’s Mobil on Wednesday morning, ready to drive to work in the red hot rod – top down and a 287-horsepower V6 eager to pounce pavement. BOSTON -- A man who allegedly shot at a Boston police detective after an attempted carjacking Monday was seriously injured when he was shot in the head by the officer, authorities said. The 6 p.m. shooting in a residential intersection in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood sparked an anti-police protest, but Boston police Commissioner Paul F. Evans said the detective was "certainly justified." "He was faced with deadly force, somebody was shooting at him, he certainly had the right to return fire. That is consistent with our policy," Evans said. Middlesex County District Attorney's office spokesman Seth Horowitz identified the man as...
